The media are happily talking about Isak being world class, and he probably is, but Tonali for me is absolutely world class - the best midfielder in the PL by a mile.

 

He has the technique of Pirlo and the engine of Vieira - plus he absolutely loves it here.

 

Would walk into any team on the planet IMO.

I've never seen another Nufc player make everyone else no matter who we play look so ordinary. He makes Bruno who's been our best midfielder in ages look average ffs. And I honestly don't feel like there's any exaggeration or knee jerk conclusions here, you just watch him play, it's imperious stuff. I know he was highly rated and all but had no idea he was capable of being THIS good. 

 

Prepare for Sky and the like to start peddling him off somewhere very soon.

Yep. All this talk by Sky yesterday about who our player of the season should be - should it be Isak, Murphy, Hall or Burn.

 

Not for me, it’s Sandro but an absolute mile. He’s been the difference this season … the others, as brilliant as they are have benefitted from being on the same pitch as him.

He has been brilliant since his move to the 6 but before that he was average. Burn has played well all season thus far so would get my vote. Isak is quality but for me it’s someone who has played out of their skin.

He was another I considered but again wasn’t overly brilliant earlier in the season. Hall would be in with a shout as well but his injury has blocked that.

Enrique was class, super acceleration too so pretty much never got out-paced. He was high level sprinter in his youth. He absolutely took the piss out of attackers in the championship and then carried that belief into the Premier League when we were promoted. He very seldom turned the ball over, even under high presses and had a quality long pass.

 

You're right that he did have a great partnership and understanding with Jonas.

 

He was voted the player of the season in the championship. As a left back that's an incredible achievement. The timing of us selling him seemed ordinary at the time but we absolutely got his best years here as his hamstring/knee issues plagued him through his time at Liverpool. He was class for us.

Aye. Pretty much spot on.

 

Taking the sentiment away from Guti he was largely pretty average footballer. He worked his arse off and will go down as a cult player but he wasn’t any great shakes. 
 

The partnership between Enrique and Colo was class though. They made it look easy.

I loved watching Enrique and Coloccini play with such confidence on the ball at the back, they were exceptional at playing it out.

I'd give player of the season to Burn. It's not just his story, work ethic etc either I think he's performed to a very high CB standard. His reading of the game and decision making has been top class and allowed him to overcome his lack of pace. Obviously the form of the players around him has helped, Tonali covering every blade of grass, Hall and Tino having great seasons means you'rea assured of the support around you but he still deserves massive credit for the way he's performed. And don't forget how important scoring that first goal at Wembley was.

With the combination of physicality and technique he's been showing he's the leagues next De Bruyne for me.

Guti was average in some aspects (shooting/finishing/crossing) but he worked hard and covered an impressive amount of space. He was well above average running with the ball and in particular he was exceptional at winning free kicks in dangerous positions.
