Don't think that Grealish is fully fit, he's been unwell. I didn't expect him to make the bench but we're short on numbers atm. Thats not a windup, as we had young Susoho on the bench to fill the last spot.

I can’t really comment as I didn’t watch most of the second half but people moaning about us sitting too deep in the second half might also have a look how Man City reacted to getting hit on the counter numerous times in the first half. From the few minutes I did watch it was more difficult as City were more aware. I guess it became even more difficult when we were getting more and more tired.

Is there something in this?…. might at least partly explain why this has been happening. Thing is if you’ve got a 6 in there to stop the likes of this you lose something in the press :cuppa:

i don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’ve started leaking loads of goals since pope got injured. We can’t play the same high line because the back four haven’t got the confidence to do so knowing Pope will sweep up behind them

You’d think bringing in a keeper of equivalent attributes and quality to Pope is virtually impossible this window. Dubs has improved hugely mind in the last few weeks…it’s not his natural game to push up to the edge of his box though

I am sure Gemmill and others have said that's one of the reasons.

If it's right, I probably said it at some point.

Naah it’s bollocks. Some foetus who wouldn’t know the Gallowgate End from his own bell end on Twitter told me it’s because Eddie Howe is a child murderer who hasn’t got a plan B 🤷🏻‍♂️😒

thought i'd post these comments from bluemoon not mine but its interesting how different fan bases see things differently

  • "Kev looks totally refreshed & invigorated, albeit lacking full match sharpness" which i agree with, players don't get much rest with the world cup and CL games. could be good for us.

  • "Guimarães standing on Rodri's foot. In every other match I've seen in recent years, that is simply a yellow card, and there's no discussion about it. He didn't brush it, he didn't land on it briefly. There's no discussion, nobody gets angry. It's a yellow. Guimarães should have been off." i did think it should have been a yellow but no idea if he had already been booked.

  • "... not many people bringing up Doku being a fanny, He pulled out of the challenge from Schar just before Bruno received the ball to play in behind. Doku needs to be committed and put his foot in to make a tackle and not shy away from it" although others were screaming for a foul as Doku jumped over a 2 footed challenge, had he not jumped it would have been a foul and a possible serious injury

  • "Nothing wrong with the defending there. You don't have to let someone past because they're quicker than you. Dias plays him perfectly and the guy throws himself to the ground." probably the politest description of that contact. personally i wouldn't have cried if you'd have got a free kick there but did feel like Gordon thought oh goody an arm, i'll go down instead of continuing running. of course if it was the other way around....

  • "Pure filth. Football porn, that goal." referring to Bernado's back heel. Just like the way that poster posts.

  • "The game should have been won long before God had to come to the rescue.. They had 2 or 3 chances and scored 2 whereas we had a pile of easier chances and scored none. We need to be far more clinical" to be fair there was some top defending and saves!

  • "Battered them for most of the game. Had a wobble that almost cost us. Shit ref. Won in the end. Typical city."

King Kev had no right to even attempt that pass. It was ludicrous.

my verdict is that it was a proper game of football and a brilliant advertisement for the premier league. physical, some great movement and 5 great goals to the extent that MotD did a goal of the game piece. And despite possession stats it could have gone either way. Newcastle v Man City in the Premier LEague is starting to become a goal fest.

I think first half we were really good, we absorbed their threat well and sprung the counter really well. Got caught narrowly by their trap a couple of times before timing it well and scoring two brilliant goals.

The point London Blue is highlighting about Bruno I disagree with, if they want to highlight that then from our side Dias got away with murder in the first half imo. There were three occasions he made zero attempt to play the ball and simply ran into our player - none of them resulted in a foul and the most blatant one ended with their first goal. Rodri similarly could have saw red if the argument is Bruno should have walked - fwiw I’d rather keep 11 v 11 and play on but I’m not really having the argument from a City perspective tbh. Walker similarly should have been booked for an absurd foul on Gordon.

Second half we ran out of steam, they have such high quality players and could turn the screw. Not sure why Howe is coming under so much flak on twitter etc, we have no options really. If we were able to bring Joelinton, Willock, Tonali, Barnes, Murphy etc off the bench to keep our lot going we’d have been closer but in the end our legs tired and their quality shone through. The third goal was just absurdly good imo, the pass from KDB and the control from Bobb.

Bruno was lucky to stay on the pitch when he stomped on Rodri’s foot tbf. But not giving the blatant foul on Gordon was equally shocking and directly led to their first goal as they got possession.

Aye I think my point was more the ref made as many errors that favored them really.

I have absolutely no recollection of this Bruno stamp and I was stone cold sober? I’m convinced that didn’t happen either

They replayed it in slow mo live on tv, and the commentators all said it deliberate. As far as i'm aware that was what triggered Rodri. I'll try and find a pic.

ps i'm not saying that Rodri's an angel. In fact he's a monster, but he's our monster so i like to turn a blind eye to his transgressions 😏

Still not a clue. But I’m assuming what triggered Bruno was Gordon getting rugby tackled to the ground with nothing said?

Aye. Rodri clattered Bruno because he wasn’t happy with the challenge.
