Tbf, haven't we been after Ekikike for years now?

If I wanted reasoned conversation I'd ask for it.

I'm finding this transfer saga quite tedious, I don't want to be duking it out with Liverpool in a dutch auction, to sign some moody french beanpole who probably has no intention of playing for us ever. Im getting flashbacks to the Guehi debacle last summer and I really havent got the stamina for this shit. I much preferred the days when the first we knew about a new signing was the press conference.

Can we get the subtitle updated to "Some moody french beanpole" please @Monkeys Fist

Honestly I did wonder how he and Isak would work together. I'd still like to get him because he's obviously quality, but far from the end of the world.

My bigger concern would have been who would have been to miss out. The consensus was we'd drop a midfielder - most likely Joelinton but that is cause for concern. We seriously missed him the last few matches.

Liverpool and (of course) Mackem fans have clearly been hijacking the Sky Sports poll.

So nice of sky to define our problems and which club are going to help us out with our 'dilemma'. Also nice of them to set the fee deemed acceptable to the club that'll help us out despite it being banded about we wouldn't take less than £150m. It's almost as if they have a desire to promote more Liverpool stuff in the guise of Isak being Liverpool's marquee signing. They've probably already got him mocked up in a Liverpool shirt holding his shirt just under the Liverpool badge. I detest sky.

Hope is reporting the same thing about it being off.

Disappointed with this like. Unless the player has said he's now only interested in Liverpool.

As others have said, looking at it objectively we were always going to be on the back foot.

Liverpool, whose 3 strikers consist of one who has sadly passed away, another who wants to leave and another who isn't rated, or Newcastle, to compete with arguably the best striker in Europe.

Wondering if Ekitike was only likely to have been interested IF he was under the impression Isak was leaving.

I don't think you can count him as still in the squad.

At least the fruit loops that think that we were playing 4D chess by manouevring Liverpool into buying Ekitike instead of Isak will feel that this has been a hugely successful operation.

The point I'm getting at, without trying to be callous, is that he has more opportunity to be the main man at Anfield than at SJP.

Agree, dropping Joelinton for another forward would have huge implications on our physicality. There's not many teams in the premier league that will just roll over against a more fancied opposition so it's very important to have that physicality to bully the opposition into submission.

That sounds like we gave up as soon as our bid was rejected tbh.

It does us no good to get involved in a bidding war if we're going to be left looking "embarassed" when the player picks the other club.

We should have gone nuclear, triggered his release clause and forced Liverpool to either match it or fuck off.

On the plus side, if Liverpool end up with him that hopefully rules them out of trying to get Isak next summer.

Liverpool have offered over €80m. Our max was €75m. Seems like the sensible thing to walk away at that price.

I suspect we were told he's interested in Liverpool and only Liverpool and at point what is the point in expending any further energy on it?

If they’re taking the piss, we’re right to walk away after getting stung with Guehi last summer. At least we seem to be moving quickly to Wissa though I’m not so certain that gets done easily considering Man United are sniffing round Mbuemo and they’re only going to sell one of them
