Fair point, it was a stone wall pen but it's not like we were playing for that. Truth is, we've been powder puff up front all season.

I blame the rat. We went into the season without having a striker with clubs trying to get the best out of our desperation.

Gordon having had his last decent game about a year ago doesn’t help either.

Have winnable games that need to be converted over the next few weeks.

Yeah, it's been a really hard start. Hope we start playing and winning from now.

Aye. He is lost.  Decision making and shooting awful.

We didn't shut up shop though. We were still going for it despite not really having the playing staff to grab a winner. After they scored, we weren't winning that game, we should have slowed it down and held on.

Felt to me like we did. Our threat in the last 30 minutes was just lumping it up and hoping Elanga or Osula chase it down. We barely created anything first half either.

Fine margins and all. Could have easily gotten a point off both Liverpool and Arsenal. As it is we just look like a disjointed side right now. Creative spark is seriously lacking

I absolutely cannot fathom how that isn’t a penalty.

It’s cheating. Sky TV need their title race.

Fucking disgusting tbh

Agreed but game management has definitely let us down.

We'll get sorted. It's been a tough start, made all the tougher by losing our main goalscorer.

Lots to like about Woltemade and Wissa and Ramsey to come back in.

We'll get there.

Thought Eddies substitutions were pretty dismal.  That and Gabriel getting away with assault on Woltemade cost Newcastle the game. The c*nt should even have been on the pitch. Their left back should have had 2 yellows as well

I agree, it's a shit start to the season that probably does cost us a CL place unless we're very fortunate later in the year, but realistically we're not yet at the level where we can go year on year. into the CL. We need to reinvent ourselves a bit this season and that's just the reality of it. I would say the bigger priority at the moment is tying the exceptional players down so we don't have another summer like this one just gone and can build again properly.

Woltemade has really impressed me. He's got the right attitude

At what point is VAR just fixing games blatantly for the red cartel? Salah's extended arm yesterday which has been neatly swept under the rug, the one here...these are not marginal decisions, they're flagrant cheating.

I'm honestly so used to the referring shite now it feels almost normal as infuriating as it is.

If anything watch the pundits talk about Arsenal's overturned penalty.

Exactly. There is a lot to improve but also the realistic prospect of us actually dealing with the problems.

I think we really need to work out how to find a cutting edge without the rat.  We look pretty blunt up front.

We need 8-10 goals from each winger and I just don’t seeing that happening at the minute.

i trust Eddie will sort it out though.

Aye, I think Howe would have been hoping for Gordon to rediscover some kind of finishing touch, along with Barnes and Murphy chipping in but it just hasn’t happened

Just got back from the game. One man to blame for the loss.

Nick Pope launched the ball straight to Arsenal time and time again today. He gifted them possession in the 96th minute and then flapped at thin air from the corner. Yes he made some good saves, but his distribution must be amongst the worst in the league. Time to give Ramsdale a chance.

ps. Fingers crossed Tino hasn't done his ACL

pps. I fucking hate Arsenal. Moaned about absolute everything today.

We've got a £55m striker to come in. Fingers crossed he makes a difference

I'd agree with this like. He makes saves, but so would Ramsdale. Pope's distribution is genuinely awful.

Transition season incoming, just got to hope we do well in the cups, the trouble is a transition season for us is far more costly than it is for the likes of Chelsea. I'm not disputing we should do better when Wissa comes back but feel like we're definitely not getting CL football this year, (let's not forget Wissa is also away to the mental mid season African tournament which always amazes me that it's played in the club football season). We got in the CL last year by the skin of our teeth, I already think we've dropped and will continue to drop, more points than we can afford to if we want to qualify this year.
