  5. I haven’t watched a single minute. I hope it dies. It’s resembles everything wrong with modern sport. (Saying that, no hate @LondonBlue. I’m almost certain that I’d be interested in it and enjoying it if NUFC were playing & benefitting. )
  6. Can't argue with most of that tbf

  10. Aye we need to operate as a standalone business, so managing cash flow is important. If we're getting cash injections from the Saudis, I guess they would have to be treated as loans, which now attract interest for PSR following the latest rule changes. They could inject cash as equity but I assume that would dilute the other shareholders. Also, we struggle to move quickly on transfers anyway, the last thing we want is to layer this on top.
  11. isn’t that connected to PSR/APT though? The Saudis aren’t allowed to just pump their billions into the club either through the ownership or related parties so delaying the payments means we have more cash to spend this window? Forgive my rudimentary understanding of all this. I fucking hate this craic tbh
  12. Most likely because of cash flow rather than PSR. Though given the Saudis aren’t short of a pound or two I don’t know why we aren’t offering clubs money up front in order to gain an advantage.
  13. If we buy him for £50m on a 5 year contract, the PSR effect is £10m per year. We could structure the payments as £1 today and the rest 5 years today, but it wouldn't matter because amortisation is done on a straight line basis.
  14. Genuine question. This isn’t the week I’m finally getting the hang of this accountancy lark
  15. why structure it that way then? Is it not about bumping payments into the following financial year or something so there’s more headroom this window?
  16. The Thomas Partey case really makes me wonder what's fair. Should we keep the player out of jail while he's being investigated or rely on the presumption of innocence while a trial is underway? The reality is that Thomas Partey was arrested by the police and spent several days in jail in 2023, which meant he couldn't travel with the team for preseason training in Germany. Back then, the press had already leaked a case of rape involving a player from a London team. It was never mentioned publicly, but the Telegraph did say he was an Arsenal player, so everyone knew it was him. While he was in jail to testify, another case involving another woman was added to the mix. Later, I remember that videos of him admitting to one of the women what he had done and threatening her were leaked. (For me, at that point, even if the court says otherwise or one of the women drops the charges because they reach a settlement, it's already clear that Thomas is a bad person, and from that moment on, he has my animosity.) The Telegraph has been reporting more or less regularly on the progress of the case, that in the summer of 2024, Thomas was taken back to the police station because a third woman had reported him, and in January, it was stated that a warrant was already being issued against him and that he would have to testify and face trial in the coming months. So, Arsenal's position strikes me as unacceptable, cowardly, and groveling. "Thomas is no longer a player for this club, and we cannot comment on that." No. Thomas was a player for your club while he committed those acts. Thomas was arrested twice for those acts while he was a player for your club. And you tried to renew Thomas's contract knowing what was going to happen. That he was going to face trial for raping three women. Surely, moreover, the one who has not wanted to renew the contract has been Thomas himself, because if he ends up being found guilty, he will run away from England looking for a country where they cannot touch him (Saudi Arabia) and where he can continue playing football for several years, earning a lot of money and improving his image until what he has done is forgotten and expires.
  17. Like Captain Kirk he came in peace.
  18. Sounds like whoever Dr Gloom has read is making it up as he goes along, like Martin Hardy.
  19. It makes zero difference to PSR how the payments are structured.
  20. I was reading somewhere that the fee is agreed but they’re negotiating over the structure. We want to spread the payments out over a few years to help with the PSR and they want more up front, for the same reason.
  21. I honestly don't think it's been accepted. Hope, Caulkin, Waugh and Edwards would have articles out if it had. The Guardian one is probably just repeating Hardy.
  22. Looking forward to the scouting report from Fish’s Forest supporting mate
