1. Toon in £15m bid for Tor MORE TOP FOOTIE NEWS http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390...6120367,00.html By ERIC BEAUCHAMP NEWCASTLE have tabled a £15million bid for Fernando Torres to replace Alan Shearer. But Toon chiefs face a battle with Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea to land the Atletico Madrid and Spain striker. Torres, 21, is set to be sold this summer and last night admitted Atletico chiefs have informed him of Newcastle’s offer. He said: “There’s always been talk about lots of clubs but I only know about one firm offer and that’s from Newcastle because the club confirmed it to me. “I’ve never thought about listening to offers from anyone. I consider Atletico my home and I’m happy but you can’t always be certain about what may happen.” Toon scouts have identified Torres as an ideal replacement for goal-king Shearer, who has become the club’s record scorer on 202 goals after beating Jackie Milburn’s tally of 200 last month. Torres has captained Atletico for three seasons, scoring 59 goals in 128 La Liga games and is set to lead Spain’s attack at the World Cup.
2. If the situtation were the otherway round there would be calls for English teams to be chucked out of European competitions again, yet it seems again and again Italian fans can run amok and little seems to happen.

7. Heard a Spurs fan on Talksport say that despite scoring he had a shocker today, he was a passenger in the first half and should have buried his chance to make it 2-1 to Spurs but fluffed it. Not missed in my opinion.
8. Inexplicably lead Leicester City to two league cups, and showed enormous loyalty to the midland club when constantly linked to bigger clubs, then performed an extraordinary salvage job transformed Celtic from isolated runners-up to instant treble winners. Continued success, including a Uefa Cup final, made him Celtic's most influential figure since Jock Stein. Intense, intelligent and arguably the most sort after manager in British football. Honours: Scottish Championship (2) 2000-01, 2001-02 Scottish Cup 2001,2004,2005 League Cup 2000-01, Runners up 2003 English League Cup (2) 1997, 2000. UEFA Cup finalists 2003. Thread over ? 105611 Not impressed tbh, a monkey could do the business up in scotland and if my memory serves me correctly he also spent a few quid up there so the stadium refurbishment argument is out the window and as for loyalty i don't believe there's any left in todays game, money does the talking these days. Don't know about you lot but i don't want to watch Boltonesque style football for the next few years. 105636 You obviously didn't bother to read it properly. The stadium refurbishment is in relation to Souness at Rangers, Rangers didn't need to spend money on Ibrox whilst Celtic had to, this ment Rangers pissed over the oposition who were forced to spend money on their grounds instead of team improvement.

Thread over ? 105611 To be fair, I do remember Souness winning a Cup with Blackburn and promotion... And a equally successful record in Scotland. 105613 Souness's tenure at Rangers was a round the time of the Taylor report which made it madatory that clubs upgrade their grounds to all seaters, Ibrox was already an all seater stadium and didn't have to invest in upgrading their ground and could instead invest in players whilst the likes of Celtic etc had to spend millions upgrading theirs, and could also take advantage of buying quality English players during the time of UEFA's ban on English teams in Europe. So not exactly a fair comparison. also, has Martin O'Neill ever been sacked as a manager after turning his team into relegation fodder ? 105616 Comparing CVs' between O'Neill and Souness is pointless, as they are virtually identical. The point that O'Neill is invariably a better manager than Souness is unarguable, that is not too difficult in itself but more than anyone else he has a brain, and is intelligent enough to be flexible when playing in a bigger stage and will realise players have to be managed according to their personalities. Appointing any manager purely on their CV is also dodgy indeed, as Kenny Dalglish had an outstanding one with few equals. 105621 Agreed, but the point of this thread was to answer "What has O'Neill done to make him a candidate for the Newcastle job".

14. Wow what a mentalist ! That just underlines my reasoning for distancing myself from any form of organised religion. I just love how that woman was going off on one because of unchristian activity whilst she herself was performing one of the most unchrist-like rants I have ever witnessed !! And then she decided to take their money !!!!!! How Christian of her !

Advice?

I'd pacify the mother by assuring her that you will give your's a stern ticking off, but instead, just confront them with what you've heard and get their side of the story and take it from there. There is always two sides to any situation and its always wise to get both sides of the story before reacting. And you know your kids better than anyone else.
16. Wow what an enormous ego you have Rob ! Looking for the "who gives a flying fuck smiley".....
