  1. Howe's tactical acumen cannot be overstated. The potentially ruinous suspension of Gordon meant he changed plans for the final. We won it in midfield rather than out wide, which none of us saw coming. Nor did Slot either. Reflecting on that, we won last night by killing them both in midfield and down the flanks. Reminded me, in a very different way, of the 6-0 scudding we handed out to Barnsley In April 93.
  2. I thought the much-vaunted Wharton was shit when he came on last night. All he wanted to do was kick people. Very disappointing & even worse than the rancid Hughes. As for us, well what can you say? I've run out of superlatives for Tonali. Surely Player of the Season? Hosting, talk about getting the monkey off your back. The Cup win has changed the whole nature of our club & support. Sure Villa might do us at the weekend, but we've transformed forever into a happy club with happy fans. Imagine that 4 years ago? We were that good moaning twat from Ashganistan kept his mouth shut after early slagging of Isak for missing the first chance.
  3. Scored a ticket in Leazes East Corner for this one. Hope we win. Hope the Pit Yakka arsehole who twisted his face all the way through the Brentford game hasn't.
  4. Thoroughly enjoyed the game tonight, especially having a great view of Tonali's winner, despite being sat in front of Thomas Frank's Wansbeck Army who appeared to think NUFC were worse than Jim Smith's 90/91 vintage. He didn't even celebrate the winner.
  5. Still nipping across the border for kebabs as in the France / Switzerland scenario? Really, really great to hear from you again
  6. Goodness mate... I presume you're no longer in Cheltenham then....
  7. Excellent. Must be enjoying the fact we're outperforming his lady's team at last eh? You know, I never expected to live beyond my mid 40s so it is such a bonus to wake up each morning and realise I've still got a chance to fall out with even more people... or to make amends with others. Been for a meal with a pal from University (he graduated 84 and me in 86) for a bite to eat in Panni's and a couple of pints in Wobbly Duck. Now just relaxing with a late large malt while listening to a Soft Machine live set from 69. All is good.
  8. I'm grand mate. Turned 60 last August and enjoying the autumn of my days. Hope you and the brother are well. Please accept belated condolences for your mam xx
  9. i've got tickets for this; first league game since fulham in dec 2023(
  10. let's be honest, if you die of COVID-19 people will cheer
  11. You know what’s worrying me about the further extension of this lockdown, apart from the obvious? Northumbria Police and how they will respond to any perceived insubordination or disobedience by members of the public as the warmer weather comes. Historically, the force were zealous enforcers of moustachioed lothario, former Chief Constable and institutional swinger Michael Craik’s vicious and authoritarian The Party’s Over strategy, ready to take up cudgels with minimal reason to eradicate any shows of hedonism. When one sees that constabularies across the country have already received public censure for disproportionate responses to innocent activities and menacing threats to dissuade any thought of freedom or enjoyment, such as the officer in Cambridge claiming that shoppers’ trolleys will be inspected to ensure no “non-essential” items have been purchased, Derbyshire Police’s incessant and intrusive surveillance of the general public and South Yorkshire’s finest, responsible for the Orgreave riot and Hillsborough disaster it must be remembered, threatening people with arrest for the crime of sitting in their front garden, then the shadow of authoritarianism is cast across us all. We truly are in danger of seeing darkness at noon.
  12. Tommy the taxi driver seems a good bloke; as a remainer taxi driver he may well be unique Patrick the chef is from Biarritz; i used to play against him in the Over 40s league - had a canny dig on him
  13. we could end up looking like complete Burkas if we try to Ramadam a Muslim pun into every post
  14. I would have voted Green, because I fully endorse their pro EU strategy, but all this save the planet environmental shit gets on my tits.
