Went to Nashville for a country music festival. More than a decade ago now, fucking hell. Belgrade and Riga for Eurovision if that counts, but it probably doesn't. Either as a gig or as music generally. In terms of land travel though, London to Brighton for an Eels gig at the Dome (also a legendary Eurovision venue ) is about the furthest.

Oh aye, there's a match on, isn't there? I'd forgotten in light of today's news that we'll soon be one spot nearer the title without even doing anything. That said, this feels a bit banana skin-ish to me. I'll go 1-1 too but I wouldn't be surprised if we stumble.

Changing the year on the "Holidays" and "Gigs" threads is about the only thing I actually do around here, so I thought I could apply some transferable skills for once

I can see both sides here. There's clearly some value in having a set of metrics that can be used to make a point to those who inexplicably don't think Steve Bruce was an inferior manager. On the other hand, anyone daft enough to think that isn't likely to be someone who's swayed by statistics in the first place.

Had a good laugh at an unplugged gig they did at the Union Chapel in Islington a few years back. Cue 900 ageing rockers being incited to chant "James Joyce is fucking my sister!" under the watchful eye of God and with exquisite acoustics.

Ouch @ both. I somehow had no idea despite relative proximity in Gosforth whenever I'm home & using exactly those streets on my running routes. Mind, I tend to run there at lunchtime or earlier so I suppose they won't have surfaced for the day yet...

It's long been a studenty area so I do wonder if it's really significantly worse nowadays or if the middle-aged/-class types just have an outlet for their frustrations now. Will give it a watch later anyway, cheers
