  1. Finally got round to visiting the local legend that is Maggie a few weeks ago. Irishwoman of a certain age who delivers an artery-clogging breakfast of champions - 20 items (!), if you want them all - with charming brusqueness (and tops up your mug of tea every time she passes, whether you want it or not). Toast comes in white or white, already buttered; tea comes very milky. These things are indisputable. Marvellous place, marvellous if very slightly scary lady.
  2. My parents have just hit 65 and they've been to Georgia (the Caucasian one), Malaysia, Cuba, Jordan and god knows where else in the last few years. Bastids.

    Cooking

It doesn't really fit either bill, but I've got some really good stuff out of http://www.amazon.co...61291034&sr=8-1 (it's cheaper at Play.com and probably elsewhere too, but the Amazon link is more informative ).
  4. I don't really care much for either genre, with a small handful of exceptions in each case. Not sure if this makes me a bloke or a lass or both.
  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21502937 Any idea as to why Dear Leader is wasting his time on things like this that don't concern him in the slightest?
  6. Nar. Plenty of good stuff that's happened to me wouldn't have happened otherwise.
  7. Poppins is over-long imo - too much banks and Banks - but obviously the main setups are classics and rightly so. The one time I watched Mamma Mia I felt genuine embarrassment for everyone involved. Can you imagine being at one of those cinema screenings where people supposedly danced and sang in the aisles? There's a fine case for mass human culling right there.
  8. If I were a crueller man, I'd point out that you could have said "like they used to give the players at half-time" rather than "like they give you with the hot towels after you've gorged on the Emperor's Banquet at the Ming Dynasty". But I'm not.
  9. Stephen Fry knows what's what: https://twitter.com/stephenfry/status/303815551413784576/photo/1
  10. I've not been to get my hair cut since 1994. I am now clearly winning this thread.
  11. Aye. A lot of that kind of thing comes down to what you're brought up with, I suppose. My fella's grandad always used to ask for his veg well cooked if we were out for a Sunday roast or whatever, until he had someone else's by mistake one time and realised that a bit of bite and some actual flavour are better than a mouthful of watery mush with the memory of a vegetable floating in it. Mind he happily orders spicy dishes nowadays too, so it could just be that his tastebuds are fucked.
  12. Aye, the city centre might be a bit optimistic! From the map, the airport's not too far from the sea and somewhere like Pendik looks like it might have a nice enough marina/seafront that you could get a taxi to, but whether there'd be any bars open in a fairly residential area at that time of day...
  13. Only if there was a towel nearby for afterwards. I'm not a monster.
  14. That would require a German who understands puns.
  15. I'd call that pretty manly insofar as it's exactly the kind of thing I'd expect you blokes to do. Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, am I right sistahs?
  16. McDonalds in Germany now do a McCurrywurst.
  17. Well if you will elect a bunch of boarding school buggers.....
  18. Bastid. Anyway, I'd say there's nowt I'd allow up there, but the last time I did that I got told I wasn't a proper gay. Going back to the original post, if being overweight and never spending money on clothes unless unavoidable make a person "manly" based on the criteria of this thread, then hear me fucking roar.
