Full time. 1:0. Job done. Nice one lads. A strong start to the season.
-
Indeed he was
-
4 would be fantastic, but I'll take a safe 2:0. There's plenty of time for us to go top

Missed most of the 1st half getting Master Paws to bed but happened to come downstairs at just the moment Shola scored before going back up. Have I missed much else ?
-
Just bumping this radio stream for non locals. I just get Jazz
-
Just a shame the players understood neither of them. What did I miss here?

Because Ashley's a fat, greedy bastard? At the risk of getting shot here - I can sort of understand it from MA's perspective. MA is trying to sell the club and get his money out too. Why pay off the debt when you can leave it to someone else, and make sure you get as much of your money back as you can. At the end of the day, circa £20mil is not a small chunk of change. I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but lets be a little bit realistic here. With a business head on, it makes more sense for MA (for MA's best interests) to do this. Hell, if Moat's offer is £20mil short of what he wants, but still stands after the sale of Baye, Oba and Bassong; then there's the shortfall sorted. MA doesnt want to be here, but he wants to leave with as much of his money as he can, which is understandable really. That said - I'm not defending him, just pointing out the other perspective. *don's kevlar*

I'd take Campbell in a heartbeat. Regardless of whether or not we sell Colo/Saylor etc. He'd cost us nowt and we dont have to pay him loads. He'd provide cover, could/should play alongside Saylor and might even help to sort Colo out should we keep him. Only need to give him a 1yr contract with the option of a 2nd.

It's not televised it will be on the radio though but I'm not sure if you'll get it in Manchester as the stream cuts off when the game starts. Yeah, it gets cut off. I used to subscribe to NUFC World just so I could get the radio commentary. But sacked it off when they want to charge me double. Might have to re-invest this season though. I had it in my head we were on 5 games out of our 1st 7 or something? Dunno where I got that idea from now. Leicester at home and Cardiff away are both on Sky, then it's the Ipswich game on the Beeb a fortnight or so after that. Forest and Sheff Utd away are on Sky too. The rest won't have been announced yet (all those are before December). Ah, ok. So I didn't imagine it. I'd thought we were on BBC more than we are. I was quite looking forward it watching the game in HD again. Watching the WBA game was nice Getting greedy now

I shouls also add, due to our positive start to the season, a bit of my usual optimism is creeping back in. I'm looking forward to this one.

Is this one on BBC? I can't find the list of our televised fixtures.

Harper R. Taylor S. Taylor Coloccini Enrique Geremi Smith Barton Jonas Nolan Carroll If the Duff sale is sorted.

Yeah, they changed it in Firefox3. If you're running FF2, you can 'Clear Private Data' or whatever it;'s called under the Tools menu. There is a shortcut for it too. I'm running FF3 so I can't remember what it's like under FF2. Also, Ctrl+Shift+P enables 'Private Browsing'. Perfect for sites you dont want cached like banking sites or 'babesbonkbadgers.com' or whatever it is you're trying to getr rid of

I have a used (but in mint condition) 20" Apple HD Cinema Display for sale. I used to use it when I had a Powerbook but it's spent most of the last 12 months unused. I'm having a HomeOffice clearout as I tend to work at work mostly. The room is reverting back to being a bedroom soon. They seem to go for around £300 on ebay plus postage. I'm planning on sticking it up there soon but thought I'd give you first shout as I know we have a few designers etc on here. Films look good on it too and although I've never tried it, it apparently runs an Xbox/PS3 well too. Lovely monitor, I just dont use it anymore. Works perfect with a PC, even the USB hub is recognised under XP Pro. I no longer have the original box, but naturally it would be packaged up well. Decent offers around £300 plus the cost of your preferred shipping method.

I agree with the earlier poihnt about him dropping back too much. I found that frustrating against WBA. Smith was playing the holding m/f role and even he was ahead of Carroll at times during the match. He has a canny first touch imo and is one to keep a hold of. Also agree with the sentiments of not playing him with Shola. Just dont play Shola
-
Funniest moment had to be when the BBC played a slow-mo of Smith bollocking Guttierez after wasting another opportunity. "Give it some fucking thought!" whilst pointing at the side of his head. Mrs Paws was quite tickled by that
-
Aye, that boiled my piss too. He reckoned that 500 of the away support would never of heard of him - cock. He rushed in a bit and made some mistakes, but hell, he's only 12 man. I think he got caught up a little which is understandable really. I'd play him against Reading. Use the game to 'rest' Harper and see how he fairs in a full game with time to prepare beforehand.
-
I've not been looking forward to this until just now. I bought a new TV & HC setup a couple of weeks ago and the TV has Freesat built in. On Freesat you get BBCHD for free. I've just found out that the match will be broadcast on BBCHD! I can now watch us get beat 3:0 in HD with Surround Sound. Oh wait ..........

Pud, you provide the drugs and I'll provide the optimism. It's going to take a shitload of the fomer to get any of the latter

To go back to a post I made elsewhere, I have it from the lad himself that he didnt want to leave, was happy to stay and would accept £25k a week, the club would only offer £17k and in his words (sounds better in a French accent) "there are lazy bastards there earning £40k+ thats why I want £25k". To put it into perspective, we allegedly pay Colos agent £28k per week! So an agent is worth £11k more than our player of last season. Really? WTF? WTF are we payng an agent for anyway? and can I just say WTF!!!!!

Keith Harris: Club may be sold this month, but not by our first game

I cant be arsed looking, but hasnt the wage bill increased by ~20 million a year under Ashley. It seems to be accepted wisdom that FFS was a useless businessman, and clueless with money. It seems to me that he understood that you had to grow turnover and generate income, and to my untrained eye actually seemed to this pretty succesfully. Plainly he got stuff badly wrong(Souness) and gambled unsucessfully(Owen, Luque) which had left us in a position that was far from ideal, but I have yet to be convinced we were seconds from administration. I would rather have his brand of failure than Ashleys brand of success for sure. And to be honest I think we would have fared better with administration, 10 point deduction and FS in charge than Ashleys moronic performance Firstly, I wasn't say saying one was better than the other; although FS looks better when viewed through MA tainted glasses. I don't know about the wage bill either. There's no doubting he's signed some players on big money, and we have probably gotten rid of a few but it's a resonable assumption that it's higher now than when he took over. All I was comparing are the facts we know about. I dont think we were seconds away from administration either; but if the reported figures are true (weren't they back up by the published accounts) we were on a slippery slope. When you compare our state immediately before MA took over to now, it seems we are more in debt than ever and we've been relegated. This means our current financial commitments are such that we cannot sustain ourselves and yet we still have some of the same problems we had when he took over 2 yrs ago, which were the same problems we'd had for the 3yrs prior to that. I was trying to work out just how we are financially better off under MA as has been proffered by others. Going off the hard facts, was are not. I was agreeing - the only possible improvement in the financial position under Ashley is he claims to have paid off the debt Whether that turns out to be true, and if true has actually been beneficial is yet to be seen. I know you were My point was aimed primarily at those who feel we on a better financial footing under MA, as I don't think we are. MA claims to have paid off the debt - maybe he has in terms of the numerous debtors perhaps (although dont we still owe for some players?); however, he's merely transferred the debt to himself and he can dictate the repayment terms. The club is in debt, it owes the bank £40m or whatever in o/d etc but it's primary debtor is the owner. NUFC owe MA £100m. So by definition, the club is £140m in debt - which is more than we were under FS if I understand correctly. On top of that, we're in a worse position for the future as our wage bill cannot be subsidised/managed by PL status and monies because we were relegated. -

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm useless at remembering football facts, so I probably am) but in the end under FS; we were about £70-100m in debt (depending upon the sources you choose to read/believe) and a premiership club with some good players who needed a decent manager. Our wage bill was high and was barely sustainable as long as we finished mid table. Under MA we are £140m in debt, in the Championship, our best players are looking to (and need to) leave, we still need a decent manager and our wage bill is now totally unsustainable. We're financially better under MA how?
