A shite article written on half-truths and assumptions. Clearly written from the perspective that KK was the rag-girl plucked from the slums by the handsome Prince Mike, only to find out that the ugly sisters Dennis and Tony wanted the Prince and his castle for themselves. Fairytale-tastic. Much like the article

Odious little shit. Given more time at smaller/non premiership clubs he might have turned into an ok manager for someone. IF KK goes/is shown the door/knocked off/get's 'run over' in the street by a suspicious dwarf-like man in a humvee, then his appointment could only be a stopgap until a permanent appointment was made. Christ we are a joke

The commentators last night were saying £12mil for the next round

John Mayer - Where the Light Is (Live album Dec 2007). Class. A 2hr gig split into 3 sets. Acoustic, trio and then the full band. His cover of Free Fallin (Tom Petty) is lovely as well, as is Axis Bold As Love (Hendrix). Canny to work to as well.

Excellent post and I agree with pretty much all of that however dont think any of the albums after BHN are a patch on their first 3. Interestingly the clip for the new song sounds promising and hopefully the rest of album will be much better. On the subject of Weller, I was a massive of fan of his first 3 albums to the point where I could sit and listen to an album all day on repeat without getting bored however, since Heliocentric, things seem to have changed a lot and he's only shown glimpses of the stuff which got me into his music. He is oustanding Live though. Yeah, the new single sounds like it might be canny. According to Noel, the album have more of a groove to it. Not sure what he means by that - time will tell. I know what you mean about Weller. I thought 'Wild Wood' was class. He's not come close to that since IMO. Saw him live at Glasto last year I think. Absolutely top notch live. EDIT: A Quick look at his discography on wikipedia has reminded me that 'Stanley Road' was a canny album too.

A White DS Lite for Mrs Paws. Oh yes, I'm in the good books now

I like them and I'm looking forward to their next album. After their poor period they seem to be pulling it back together. The change in personnel has helped to freshen things up a bit I think. In a way they are the victims of their own success. The first 2 albums were excellent. They dodged the difficult 2nd album bullet with an album many argue was better thsn DM. Problem was, they were expected to go one better again with BHN and because it was so highly anticipated, when the result didn't quite match up the reaction was overblown. Those who remember the Stone Roses will see the likeness with 'Second Coming'. BHN wasn't bad and had some good stuff on it, but a good chunk of it was stuff the Noel had written much earlier and didn't get into the 1st 2 albums. I think Noel was sort of running out of ideas at that point (burnout perhaps?). SOTSOG was awful. Hindu Times showed some signs there was life in the old dog yet, but was no means a recovery. DBTT carried on the recovery process but if you look at the sleeve notes, it's no longer just Noel writing the songs. Most of Liam's stuff has been a bit crap to date, but Gem has contributed some canny stuff (A Bell will Ring anyone?). They aren't at the peak they once were and I don't realistically expect them to be like that again. It was 15ish yrs ago and things have changed - the key is that they are changing too. It's worked for Led Zep (I struggle with some of their later stuff to be honest ) and Paul Weller really is 'The Changing Man' to name two examples. Liam is a dick, but by the same token, on form he's a great frontman and Noel is clearly talented. Liams antics have really contributed to the apathy Oasis now receive from many people IMO. Overall though, I think they are probably one of the best bands this country has produced. *puts tin hat on, retreats to a safe distance *

Cheer up you miserable bastid! We're halfway through the transfer window and we've signed an Argentinian and a player who has potential (he looks as though he has based on his days at Bolton). I totally agree that we need more. Specifically more quality, but it's a bit early to write the season off just yet.

Wasn't he not playing the tail end of last season because he was sulking? Or have I just imagined that?

Good album that one. Stone Gods - Silver Spoons and Broken Bones

Who me? Not entirely, I have read other peoples reports on the net - all based on the same youtube videos Besides, at what point did I state he was any good? I think you'll find I said 'looks' not 'is'. I also said 'time will tell' or did you miss that as well? It's not all about you Paws. What do you mean, of course it is. It always is. Who else is there! EDIT: Why are there two PMT icons? I wanted the stroppy girl not the depiction of Centre Court

Time will tell of course, but I really hope he settles. By all accounts he looks a canny player. The Armstrong article carries weight in my eyes - after all, the bloke lives there. We've missed having a genuinely exciting winger and for us to get the best out of Owen and Martins, we need someone who can create. Emre couldn't, Duff couldn't, Milner had his moments and the Zog was too busy sulking. I'm definitely feeling positive. Mind you, I've just got off the phone to an existing client who have just agreed to spend more money with us...... so that might have something to do with it

My Dad was listening to Rock Radio this morning and there was an interview with Marc Playle. Seems this guy is from Gateshead and plays lead guitar for a band called Minnikin. Quick look round youtube at their stuff and he's pretty handy like...... well, particularly handy for a bloke with only one hand! He's missing his left forearm and he plays with a prosthetic attachment to the stump which has a pick superglued to it! Apparently he's through to the finals of Guitar Idol 2008? Fair play to the lad, he certainly knows he way round the fretboard. I'm sure there used to be a 'devils horns' moshing icon on here......

The black keys could play in your toilet and still sounds good. edit: the kills - last day of magic Agreed. I'm new to their brilliance, absolutely love them though. Also, cheers for the info Alex. If you're new to the black keys, try the kills as well. The Best Black Keys Albums in order (In my opinion) Rubber Factory > The Big Come Up > Magic Potion = Chuhlahoma = Attack and Release = ThickFreakness But they haven't really made a record below 8/10 IMHO T-Keith told me to listen to these guys a little while ago and I never got round to it. Just downloaded 'Attack and Release' to try 'em out as this thread reminded me. Only listened to it once, but it's now on my ipod for the train later. Currently listening to John Mayer's Glasto set. Can't believe he was in Manchester this week and I didn't know. Would have loved to catch him live. Currently listening to

I missed the first two sets but saw him dig deep and turn the tide in the 3rd. Fantastic game though. You could see the change in Gasquet as the match went on. Tense stuff at the end. My little boy was in bed and it was quite hard not to cheer! He's played Nadal before and taken sets from him. He's definitly the underdog in the Nadal match, but anything could happen. On a separate note, fair play to Gasquet. He played some brilliant stuff, especially later on when he was losing and the crowd had become whipped up in Murrey's favour. That shot over the back of his head to take the point from Murrey was lovely. 9 times out of 10 that would have gone spectacularly wrong - especially when you're losing!

Use thetrainline.com. If you can select the exact trains and times you want you can get separate outward and return tickets for much cheaper than you'd pay for a return on the day or closer the time. Use thetrainline.com to find out the train times and provider. Then go to the provider's site and buy them cheaper. thetrainline add a % on top. Saved about £15 on my last trip down south by getting my tickets direct from Virgin. Edit: BTW, buy them early. Not only do you get a better chance of a decent seat (with plug if you are using a laptop) but the tickets are cheaper.

Tennis is for gay people and women. Not being prejudiced just stating a fact. Given that I'm neither; I'd say your logic is flawed.
-
I hope he won. Yeah, he did. Was on top for most of the whole match. He allowed Haas back in to sneak the 2nd set (after fighting back to force a tiebreaker) after just losing out on the tiebreaker. Got back on top during the 3rd set and after that didn't really look like losing. Kept very composed throughout - even when things weren't going his way. Next week should be interesting.
-
I've watched a bit today. Good match from Murrey just now.

I have a newish BMW 3 Series and a private plate. Reading through this thread I've probably gone down in many peoples view. I'm not a chav and nor do I want/expect people to 'look at me'. I don't like Kid Rock though, surely that allows me to claw back some credibility?
-
No. They are making the Wigan strip. My apologies! I am usually careful about that sort of thing. Please keep in mind that it is a bit early over here and the coffee hasn't kicked in as of yet. For the record, should I use "kit" or "strip"? And thanks for the defence T-Keith. No need to apologise (or should that be apologize ) . We knew what you meant. At least you can spell unlike some on here
