  1. just watched it - class. good from martins and the zog
  2. bloody hell - just noticed I'm 4 mins behind on my stream. Might have to close this thread down and just watch the stream...
  3. What's the sopcast channel number Besty? Mine doesn't go straight there I have to put the number in for some reason. 48610 You're a gentleman sir!
  4. BBC SPort site says it's 1:0 to us, but the live commentary says 0:0 wtf? EDIT: saw the rest of this thread! SOPCAST number would be nice too.
  5. PM for me too. my usual links aren't listing it.
  6. You can't handle the truth!
  7. More chance of us winning the league tbh
  8. I was at Chester Zoo about 2months ago with Mrs Paws and little Paws and Mrs Paws pointed out one of the chimps - I swear it was the spit of 'ol Monkey's Heed. When I tried to take a photo he spotted me, turned round and took at shit (I kid you not) and wiped his arse on a handful of straw. I persevered for another couple of mons trying to get a pic but he wasn't having any of it
  9. In fairness, his ManU ego has come from years of winning stuff. I thought some of it might rub off on the team and they'd do better than they have done. Someone of his status in the game (from a player perspective that is) should attract players who want some of what he's had - like KK did for us first time around. Up until that point, I don't think they could attract those kind of players. It looked good for them when Quinn took over as he could get his Irish mate Keane to help him out and attract those players. Not sure they can be so lucky now. Interesting times for the unwashed now.
  10. Just heard this on a radio station in Manchester. I thought he's stick around 'til they sacked him rather than walking. Poor start from them this season, but last season they did ok imo. Seems a bit shit with cash and not good at dealing with players who don't give a shit.
  11. I've just spent ages writing a long post in the online payments thread only to find that half of what I've said has already been said by 'pud in this thread. Pud - I must be your fanboy and I never even knew it
  12. Where can I send the bill for the new keyboard? I've just spit my tea
  13. Some of those made the hair stand up on my arms/face. We could do with a few of those now.....
  14. I don't think anyone is entirely comfortable with the idea of Ashley sticking around but as some people have already said - it's not like he's going to go anytime soon because of the current climate. I have mixed feelings about all of this - some of which I've voiced in other threads. When Ashley first took over I liked the sound of his business model. We weren't going to go mental and splash £00's of millions but build from the ground up and inject stability - something we have craved for years. Whilst there was never going to be any £37m signings, I thought with Keegan at the helm and a billionaire owner there would be some strong signings and some exciting (if heart/nerves straining) times ahead. Well it's certainly been the latter. The departure of Keegan has blown this whole thing open. It has highlighted Ashley's biggest failing in all of this - his recruitment policy and by that I include Keegan. Keegan's appointment was risky as if it worked - great for everyone. If it didn't the fallout would be massive given Keegan's status in the area - lose situation for MA. He's surrounded himself with the wrong people (Wise et al) and that has led to our current situation. He's made some big mistakes, mistakes which in business cost you and it it has cost him dear. But in business you sometimes make mistakes - especially when you are doing something for the first time. As a manager of a business / investor you need to employ the right people to avoid making those mistakes - that has been one of his problems. Where do we go from here? We've reached a stand off. We support the club but not the management and the man at the top of the tree looks like he's here for a while. In order for him to sell the club it needs to be an attractive proposition. We are sliding down the league and there is the very real possibility of relegation (the unerring optimist in me still says that won't happen). Some of our best players could leave in Jan - further weakening the side and our chances of survival. We need MA to invest in Jan and strengthen the side and that includes keeping some of those players who could be leaving (too late imo). We need him to do what he has said he will not - put more money into a club that wants him out. The bit that will stick in his crop is that I'm sure he realises he will have to do this too if he wants to ever sell us for a profit (no one ion their right mind ever wants to sell something at a loss). I'm going to stick my neck out a little bit and admit something else (something I'm sure I will regret doing). Before anyone else says it - I'm not racist or Xenophobic (although I'm sure some will say it anyway). Part of the reason I liked the fact MA bought us was that he was English. Our club was still being run by an Englishman and not a foreigner and therefore, the income generated would still be in the UK economy and not making it's way over the Atlantic/Baltic Sea/whatever into the hands of a foreign investor. This is the bit I'm really going to regret - part of me (albeit a lot smaller now) still likes that idea. All of that aside, the stand off isn't working. As fans we are all torn as we love the club not what's going on and who is running it. However, if what we are doing isn't working then we need to find something that does. If the NUSC (or whoever) approaching MA and his cronies with an olive branch in an attempt to open dialogue and establish some common ground to move on from; gets on the the path to recovery then fine. It's going to take someone with a bit of balls to swallow some pride and suggest it otherwise where do we go from here? I'm as disillusioned as the next man but the pragmatist in me knows things need to change and we need to at least go halfway. MA is not likely to walk the whole way on his own. Call it an uneasy truce for now? For the record: I don't trust MA and I hate what he has done. I want my club back, I want to feel good about it; I want us to be moving forward in a positive manner oh and..... I'm 5'5 1/2 (the half makes a difference you know!) I'm 31 I'm an exile now living in Manchester I have messy spikey mousey blond hair I drink in the Trent when I go to the match I'm not looking for a fight
  15. Actually, in fairness I probably should have kept my mouth shut. Once my brain caught up I realised that it's not just a case of making a couple of amendments and use a new domain name. All the stuff done around the NUSC to date (links in online articles, newspapers etc) will all use the current domain name. I think I'll take my own advice and STFU Actually, Maggiespaws, you can still register those particular domain names and have them set as "Park and Points" on your hosting companies Domain Name Servers. That way, you can phase out the current domain name for one that may be a bit easier and more "marketable". Apologies if you already knew this but if not, it may help. Yeah I did know that - it was what I was thinking when I first made the suggestion. Fact is though, I'm not involved in the running of the NUSC - I'm not on the committee or anything. I just helped out getting the Paypal stuff sorted for 'pud. That being said, once my brain caught up I realised it wasn't really my place to suggest 'we' could change the domain name when I'm not really part of the 'we' In fact I almost sent a PM apology to 'pud for suggesting it in the first place but I figured my reply to asprilla sort of explained that. Anyway, you are right in the phasing out, but given the very new status of the NUSC, it could be damaging to change the domain so soon / add another domain - especially as it might cause confusion as to who they are (or if there are two of them). That and the fact that I'm sure someone's £10 membership fee would be better spent on some other aspect of the club than a new domain name. EDIT: Just caught up with the rest of the thread. It's been a little volatile on here hasn't it. Keep your lighters in your pockets boys - the slightest spark could set it off again

  17. Something that occurred to me this morning. Everton desperately need a striker and isn't Owen a boyhood toffee fan? He'll be available for a credit-crunch beating deal in Jan..... I'm sure the cost of his wages could be offset by the reduced price they'd pay to get him.
  18. Indeed. I wonder how many companies are coming round to this way of thinking. Are we going to see the demise of the 'blockbuster' games on the PC now? At least developing for consoles is easier (faster and therefore cheaper) because of the standard hardware configuration. You know the limitations of the machine and you design accordingly. PC's can be so diverse in their build that it must be like a moving target. That and the fact that its much easier to run counterfeit games on a PC.
  19. For those complaining of the long url - all the good ones were taken. nusc.com, co.uk, org.uk etc were all gone in fairness. I'm sure if anyone can suggest a better one then we can look into it; but for now, just bookmark it and STFU As for getting away with paying a fiver instead of a tenner, yeah it's possible. Thing is though, people involved in this have full time jobs so it's not like 'pud et al can spend the time verifying NUS numbers or anything - not unless some of the membership monies were used to pay for this and I'm sure that's not the agenda. People have offered their time and involvement in this for nowt so the reliance is on people being honest. If you want to join, pay what you should as if you don't, you're only ripping off a club which is trying to act as your voice as a member. I should point out that I'm not involved in the the running or organisation of the NUSC and so they may not agree with what I've written. I just helped out with getting the online payments sorted. As for how it has run so far; having been involved in clubs and organisations run by volunteers in the past I can say from experience that it is a learning curve. Getting people together from all over (with their own busy schedules etc getting in the way) and managing them as a group is difficult. Mistakes can be made and it is not easy to get it right at first - particularly when you are setting something up from scratch. Look at it this way, if it is funded then it has more chance of getting properly off the ground and doing what it's intended to do.
  20. Indeed. You remembered to setup that standing order from the membership back account to my offshore one didn't you? Only I've already made the final arrangements for that party of thai masseurs and those cases of Cristal are arriving on Tuesday.
  21. i'd forgotten all about geremi... bugger That's why I mentioned him in my earlier post - he's part of the reason for my not sharing your enthusiasm
  22. As many have said, it shows the sale isn't as close as we were led to believe. That being that case, this is the right thing to do imo. Whether he can keep a hold of Owen et al is a moot point. The wheels will already be in motion for those players looking to leave and short of the sale being completed anytime soon, those players will be on their way. I don't think the appointment of JFK for the rest of the season will make much difference tbh. If we go on a good cup run lets say, Owen is not likely to turn round and think to himself "Well, the club I play for is a shambles, with no direction and nothing but uncertainty on the horizon. But we've just had a good run so fuck it, I'll sign a new contract" is he? Same goes for the other players whose contracts are up. What it will do is remove one of the unstabling elements of the clubs current position, which can only be a good thing. He's not going to start doing worse now he has a 6 month contract now is he? In the grand scheme of things, JFK is not our biggest problem, in fact I'd go as far as to say that his is only one of the minor ones.
  23. Not that I know of. Marnie Stern - This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That Damn good guitaring.....for a girl. I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together?
  24. Not sure I share your enthusiasm. I'm no Shola lover, but at least he was match fit and was getting better with a run of games. The fat man hasn't kicked a ball in anger for us this season and the chances of us seeing one of his rare 'good days' are even more unlikely given how long he has been out. Getting the Zog on the left will be nice though. He needs to seize the chance, thats for sure. Isn't his preferred position Centre Mid though (I'm not convinced it's his best position however)? If he played there (rather than the god-awful Cacapa) then Spidey could play left wing. Still leaves us with a problem for RW though. The prospect of Geremi doesn't fill me with feelings of joy...
