Without wanting to turn this into another Rancid Turd thread, I feel your pain brother. I must have done something wrong to the little bugger recently (perhaps it's making him wear the toon shirt) because I swear he's getting me back for something. Today he torn one off on my hand and when I moved it away it was damp. A quick look at his arse showed the shite stain making it's way through the babygro. Not good. In fact it must have come out of his arse at just the right trajectory to make it through a gap in the seal between leg and nappy and in no small way either. This is on top of the fact he's pissed on me twice in two days. Balls to working from home - I'm going into the office tomorrow

Got home and played it properly tonight. Superb whammy madness gonna get some Dimarzios to stick on it next Yeah, they'll fatten up the sound a fair bit. I found Ibanez to be a bit like a Gretsch in that they were both very tinny sounding (more so the Gretsch). The Ibanez' seem to have a bit more attack to them and the Dimarzio's will add a bit more grunt. Are you replacing them all or just the bridge pickup? Dual Coil bridge pickup and keep the neck as it is? Edit: All this talk of Whammy madness and I've had to put Surfing with the Alien on - a live version at that. Satch sure knows how to bend a harmonic

Yeah, I know what you mean. That's why I went for the pyjamas for a 3-6mth old. The little mite's only 3wks 2days old so it gave him a bit of time in it. Pyjamas are a bit cheaper than the real thing too He'll be wearing it this Saturday too when I nip to the pub to watch it with my Scouse mate. He'll be out with his Mum like, not at the pub with me; before some smart arse points that out All in all though, (Mastercard stylee) £15 for the pj's, £5 postage (robbing gets) £2 for the number. Watching the derby with your son in your colours = priceless How your little 'un JawD sleeping yet?

New guitar - always good Not one I would have pitched you for Thom. Do you have specific things in mind for this one or are you just trying something new?

As a Newcastle fan born and bred in Newcastle I have few options for my son. Other than raising him an NUFC fan, my only other real options are Stockport County (part of Mrs Paws family are County fans), the Blue half of Manchester (the rest of Mrs Paws side are blues) or heaven forbid I should bring him into the world of football a Red Manc so he might taste success. Nope, he'll suffer like his father and his father before him Incidentally, the shirt he's wearing is the baby pyjama top (it even has the sponsors logo and club crest on the front) and the number is from the England shorts (the only one small enough). I was sad enough to buy the number and iron it onto his top

Well ok, maybe not really (and I'm sure this should be in the General thread) but with the doom and gloom of recent games I thought you should all see something which will make you smile. This was taken during half time on Saturdays draw. He may have been born in Manchester, he'll be raised in Manchester (for the foreseeable future at least) but Matthews first match was the derby away and he wore his colours to make it three generations of living Toon fans in my family. He was a lot calmer than we were for the second half - that's for sure. He watched the whole of the second half (and some of the first after spending most of it at Mummy's milk bar) with a calm air of bewilderment 7 = My brother (Uncle) 8 = Matthew (obviously) 9 = Me (Proud Daddy) 10 = Dad (Grandpa)

I think the TF article is a pretty good assessment, although I also agree Roeder deserves some slack for his efforts in seeing out the rest of the season Souness began. I find the (what feels like a National) media focus on NUFC both embarrassing and frightening. It's like they want us to f**k up and we keep providing them with ammo (and when we don't, they just make up their own). Some of our recent results have been shocking and we are not playing the way I would have liked. I think people sometimes forget, Fergie was nearly was nearly out on his arse at Man Utd before winning his first trophy. Stability brings success and SA has inherited a club in dissarray. It will take time to establish that stability. I think Man City have had a terrific start to the season and they are the closest club to us in terms of a team undergoing big change. Sven has definitely started better than Sam but that is not a reason to get rid of Sam. FFS we are not even half way through the season yet. I think people are right to be disappointed with recent results and we should not sit back and accept dross just because we are in transition but by the same token, we do need to keep sight of the bigger picture and concentrate on giving the team, manager and board time to get it right. I remember when we were all talking about who out new manager should be, Sven was not universally supported as an option for us. I wonder how many people who felt he was not a good option given his England display are now comparing our run to City's and praising Sven?

It's criminal just to refer to him as a bass player too. Accomplished guitarist and pianist too. To get back on topic

Fucking redneck I think we can muster a more constructive response than Xenophobia, even if our Stateside friend might be being a bit of a muppet  Seriously though, this kind of response is standard fare from those who will hound him till he leaves then proudly say 'I told you so'.

My mistake then. I thought Mort had come out and said that they'd addressed the clause issue in Owens contract- same with Martins.
-
In the video he says he's not asked for a new contract, not does he expect one. He sign for 4 years and he still has to years to go. He's not in a position for one yet He makes comment on how the press twist things he says to be something else - he used the contract as an example. However, nor he or his agent have asked for one and the club has not offered him one. He also mentioned this was why he chose not to come out and say things to the press and they twist it anyway. As far as he is concerned he wants to let his football do the talking. The guy is a pro. I think he's already come out and said he's not leaving anytime soon when he signed the revised contract removing the clause did he not? Actions speak louder than words. By signing that he was saying he's not leaving or looking to leave, otherwise why would he sign something which makes it more diffucult for him to leave. I don't know what else he has to do to win some people over. We have more important things to worry about than Owen's contract. Like why can't we create anything in midfield and why can't we win away from home! Give him the ball and he'll invariably score. We need to concentrate on getting him the ball.

I read the same article here: http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,1952...2841770,00.html There is also a video which goes into more detail. Listen to the bit about the fans and why he choses not to comment on paper speculation. Very level headed IMO. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/b...bctid1284277109 I suppose some will argue this should have been said sooner but I guess he can't win in that respect.

Thanks for the best wishes. I managed a whole glass of wine last night before switching back into Dad mode to help with feed/nappy etc then collapsing into bed. I think I can feel a few beers coming on this weekend. Everyone is doing fine. Settling nicely. It's amazing how calming this is in one respect. Chaos as well like, but its amazing how much of a calming influence it seems to be at the minute. I'm sure it'll pass

Some of you know that Mrs Paws and I were expecting our first baby. Matthew Steven was born on Sunday at 13:21 weighing in at 8lb 4oz. After some complications, both are doing great and should be home tomorrow. I'm off to get my last nights sleep for the immediate future Steve Edit: Corrected the day to Sunday. I must be tired. Thanks for the best wishes so far. I really am off to bed now

I made this same analogy last summer, it's really quite obvious we're going to drive Owen out if we carry on like this. It would be a sad day for the club if the moronic braindead element of our fans combined with some shit stirring cockney journalists got him out the club, which is what said journo's have always wanted. You'd hope Shearer's words could have some effect since the kind of mong who hate Owen are the same ones who would class Big Al's words as like the word of god and so hopefully will take it in! Yes i'd like Owen to sign a new contract sometime down the line to show his commitement, but other than that he does the business on the pitch and that's all i need. He doesn't have to spend his every waking minute proclaiming his love for the geordie nation and countering every single piece of bullshit in the press. He's always said he never comes out and does that as it doesn' stop them one bit and he doesn't feel he should have to. I've known for ages he was living up here more than anywhere else and that he and his kids were happy, i knew he'd said it, but you won't be finding much coverage of stuff like that in the rags Quoted (all) for truth. It's the thing that really worries me about the whole Owen situation. I know he's not played many games for us when you see how long he's been here but I dont think he deserves all the crap. I don't think he has to come out and profess undying love every 5 mins either. I'd rather he did his talking on the pitch as that's what really matters. I find the constant media speculation and baiting tedious at best. It's liek the rags are trying to whip up a frenzy for the thick geordies to blindly swallow. Oh look, half of them have!

I have heard a few of his tracks in the past and thought - ok. Downloaded his new album based on the vitriolic responses in this thread. Played the whole album form start to finish - no skipping. I have to say it's pretty poor like. It's not sure what it's trying to be. Jamesyou described it as southern rock - it's really not. If you want Southern Rock try the Black Crowes. Now there's a southern band with plenty of talent. Some of the songs are blatant rip-offs. On one song he basically steals Sweet Home Alabama and rips its guts out. I don't just mean the chorus, I mean the guitar solo, the piano solo, the chorus and part of the premise for the song. It's like he's trying to be something he's not. It's like Pop but trying to be 'more Rock' but throwing in a mess of other styles. The mix of styles when done properly sounds quite refreshing but done poorly sounds like an album with multiple split personalities. He has popularity I'll give you that. Popularity does not equal talent though. There are loads of bands who where technically very good but fail to make much of an impact (I can give an example if you like) whereas some people strike a chord with your average (perhaps 'mass market') joe and make it big. James Blunt is a classic example of this. The amount of people in the music industry who have gone on record wondering why JB is so popular). As for the vitriolic responses, it's something I've noticed on this board. Maybe it's just because I don't visit that often and probably contribute even less, but it seems that sometimes when someone has a strong opinion of something and decides to share it; if it deviates from the 'perceived' line of acceptance it seems to get lambasted. I'm not saying I agree with James coDuham - because I don't, I just thought I'd share the observation. Incidentally, I've since deleted the offending album

Why are we having this conversations? FFS are we actively trying to drive him out because he loves playing for England? I dont think we'd be having this conversation if he hadn't had the injury problems he's had since he signed for us. He's never going to have the passion of Shearer and I don't expect him too. What I expect him and our other players to do is what they are paid to do. He is paid to score goals and when we play him he does. Without him we don't have anywhere near as strong an option. Martins has his own qualities (speed and aggressiveness are two) but lacks others (such as intelligence, ability to read the game and position himself). What doesn't help is the media. It's like they want him to leave too as they feel he never should have come to us - he's too good for NUFC type thing. They can fuck off too. I dont give a shit if Owen sleeps under an NUFC duvet or not. Owen is cold and a bit ruthless and I quite like that. He wants to do well at what he does and if he's doing that for us I'm happy. We've enjoyed several local players 'bleeding' for the club - but where has that got us? It's easy to get sentimental about these things but that doesn't necessarily win you trophy's. Get behind the lad, we've more important things to worry about in the team than him.

I'm So Glad - Cream at the Royal Albert Hall '05 Clapton sounds so laid back it makes you sick and you'd never guess Ginger Baker is about 70. Jack Bruce 'aint half bad either. Whilst writing this, track moved to Spoonful - Clapton and Bruce are both class on this.

Excellent. I think Celtic have taken the appropriate action and that should be the end of it. It'll be interesting to see what action UEFA take against Milan/Dida. Might deter a few others
-
I agree about the difference in the incidents. Awarding the game to Milan and removing Celtic would be overkill and unjust. Time will tell I guess. Celtic have acted swiftly, which is good. Let hope UEFA take this on board and leave it in the hands of the club.
-
And all those times that Jimmy Jump popped on, same amount of "contact" with the player made also... Don't get me wrong, I agree with this, and the two posts above it. The contact was minimal and it's the fan who should be punished (and he has) not the club. Part of my point was that how do UEFA react? This incident is no more Celtic's fault than the flare incident was Inters. Inter got thrown out, fined and forced to play the next 4 games behind closed doors. UEFA must show parity or risk the fall out. This incident was not a serious as the Inter one (although the hysterics would argue 'what if he's been carrying knife') but Uefa need to respond. IMO, if anyone should be banned it should be Dida for his theatrics. If we should make an example, it should be him. The cynic in me says he did it because he realised that his reaction may result in Celtic getting kicked out and therefore Milan would get through - it worked for them once before. In reality though - who knows?
-
CL quarter final a few years ago against Inter. Milan were awarded a 3-0 win and Inter had to play a few games behind closed doors I think. They were also fined IIRC. Listening to the radio I thought the fan had seriously tw@ted him and my first reaction is that Celtic would be gone. Inter got kicked out for the flare incident and it would only be fair if Celtic got the same. However, having seen the incident it hardly seems fair to kick them out. Then again, was it fair to the Inter players after the fan threw the flare? I hope Celtic are allowed to carry on as it would be an especially bitter pill for them to swallow given the significance of the victory, however, could they really complain if the reason was for a fan invading the pitch and assaulting (I use that term loosely, but valid none the less) a player. The fan is a tit like. Some people need to learn some self control and awareness of others. His actions could ruin the campaign of his club. Bet he didn't think of that when he thought it'd be 'funny' to slap the oppositions keeper.

Im curious, did they not try to charge you £35? Or did you cancel then resubscribe at £18.

I live in France though. It's actually easier to get video streams than audio ones I find. All radio coverage is blocked off to people overseas. Well that's fooked that argument then hasn't it
