  1. The PL has had a fucking mare with this tbf. Inconsistent, unprincipled, cowardly. It deserves any criticism it gets.
  2. Sorry but, who is he? Huge respect for him based on that clip but I've no fucking clue who he is.
  3. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2021/oct/08/saudi-takeover-of-newcastle-leaves-human-rights-to-fog-on-the-tyne David Conn though, first journalist who has actually troubled me about it. I mean you read the article and it's full of "the great institution of Newcastle United, a beloved asset to the country" kind of rhetoric which, I mean come on, no one was saying anything of the sort about us under Ashley. You can't just turn it on now. But looking past that a lot of what he's said does still land. Still though, if a slight unease is the worst I'm going to get from this then I suppose that says it all.
  4. That is 100% my take on this too. If this had been Man Utd it would have been "expected" and "part of the order of things". An example of "how the sport is - no point crying over spilt milk, the horse bolted some time ago etc etc". I have to say though, even for us the outrage isn't that big. Plenty of ordinary fans just enjoying the memes and excitement, I don't think all that many people are actually bothered by this.
  5. Aye, got to be honest, I'm a bit stunned by the eloquence of that Shearer piece.
  6. I love all of you. We've stuck together through this shit for years and it's a genuine pleasure to be able to enjoy the reward with everyone here. Haven't even been drinking, just the fucking truth.
  7. The worst that's about to happen to Steve Bruce is that he'll be given a couple of mill to fuck off. He's living the fucking dream compared to most of us.
  8. I cannot believe it's finally over. Fucking hell man, the end of Ashley. What a day for the city, seriously.
  9. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/oct/07/the-fiver-newcastle-united-saudi-arabia Glendenning is fucking livid
  10. Aye. "Ok Luke, since Newcastle have gone up in the world we'll need you to really step up your efforts with fan engagement, get us the details that other papers can't by using all your carefully nurtured relationships with the common man up there. What's that? Their kids are kicking burning effigies of you up and down Northumberland Street? Erm... let us get back to you on the direction we're going to take from here...
  11. Fuck this seriously The journos clearly know about as much as we do and are just trying to keep people's attention.
  12. Lawyers. Have to extract every last additional fee they can.
  13. How is this not done yet man. And at the same time, how have we gotten to a point where it feels endless after only learning about it 24 hours ago
  14. We're not entirely at peace with it ourselves for what its worth mate, but at the end of the day it's not like anyone liked us that much to begin with
  15. And they're all grateful to Short for saving them from actual oblivion? Ashley did what he did for his benefit and no one else's. Short gave them an act of charity.
  16. Well on the last one, it's not been "our club" at any point over the last 10 years anyway.
  17. You've long since convinced me of the merits of your knowledge of Sunderland mate, I'd even go so far as to say the board would miss it if you left
  18. Have to say mind, the things the mackems are saying to each other about this are painful. If the Fish hadn't been over there I actually think a few of them would have ended it
  19. Tbf I suspect your encyclopedic knowledge of their football club probably does the job as well. "He's been going on about the birthday of some player who made one appearance for us off the subs bench 30 years ago marra, he has to be legit like, why the fuck would he know that otherwise??"
  20. I'm not passing comment on it either way since neither you nor I have any fucking clue at this point what their actual ambitions are, although you clearly have more faith in FFP than I do - I just thought it was amusing that you were talking Sunderland fans back from the edge while they were going on as if we were a new superpower. FWIW I also suspect that even if we did spend £1bn tomorrow it still wouldn't be enough to win us the league since things like winning require long term strategy and planning. But don't doubt for a second that they're capable of citying it and if they can find a sustainable way of doing it, quite possibly will city it.
