  1. What a performance Amazing stuff, I really never thought I'd see times like this for NUFC ever again tbh. 5-1 away.
  2. I did think about Moyes while writing this tbh but figured that even he must feel some sort of pressure to try and look like he's setting up to win home games If he's going super negative then this is going to be a painful affair.
  3. West Ham are the kind of team that I think we can beat away from home on the basis that they should at least be -trying- to win the game. That means they're on the front foot more, more susceptible to the press and therefore more likely to be forced into errors/provide room for us to create things. I'd be disappointed if we didn't win this after Saturday's performance.
  4. Aye that was my feeling on it - don't think it needs to be a 100m player (don't think Maddison is one) but someone like him would really drive us forward. We seem to create so many good chances for his type of player that it's a shame to not bolster that role.
  5. I do think we need the technical quality - how far would this team get without players like Bruno and Trippier? That said, it's also true that we can't really afford passengers or the system doesn't work as well. We operate a team based press, if someone slacks off in that then they're leaving spaces and wasting everyone else's effort. There's my contribution to this thread (and it is a good thread). Both important, get both.
  6. I mean tbh I was just thinking someone like Maddison would work for it. Would be interested @The Fish to see the relative xG and conversions of Longstaff and Willock versus other players in their position. I could be wrong like but our attacking players seem to create really good chances that our onrushing midfield players seem to struggle to put away. I reckon that's the whole issue in terms of our profligacy tbh.
  7. Longstaff is still a problem in my eyes - he seems to get more chances to score than our forwards but just doesn't have the composure or finishing ability. Can only imagine that he's in that advanced role because he's not trusted further back? I still think we need a midfielder who can make those late arrival runs into the box but actually convert the chances. Our profligate finishing really feels like it's coming from that position - we make enough chances for these players (Willock included here tbh) but they just don't put them away. Am I being harsh? It's really how it looks to me but I guess I only saw the highlights from yesterday (still pissed about that).
  8. Gutted I missed this, I fucking love it when we beat these twats. It sounds like we completely dominated them and once again I'd like to suggest that some of these big clubs just don't fucking get that they can't rock up at SJP anymore and claim 3 points. The club is now a manifestation of what the city has always been - fucking formidable. I don't know if we can get top 4 this season, but I do know that Spurs and Man Utd will both be fucking worried now. Love this team - from the way we play, to how the manager carries himself, to the club's twitter account and Jacob Murphy ripping the piss out of our "betters". Everything about it is fully what this club should have always been about.
  9. I swear to god, I am not living under any further iteration of the Tories after this one. I'm either leaving the country or ending it all if Labour lose power at any point over the rest of my life.
  10. When is the next GE ffs, it feels like we've had this iteration of the Tories for a fucking lifetime.
  11. Fair, I'm just vaguely recalling reading a BBC report from last year saying they were £5m in deficit for one reason or another. Still though that could be a year out of date now.
  12. I was under the impression the entryists had all left mind... Membership was down by 100k from 2021 to 2022. And the loss of £3m that went with them seems to have gone straight into the party deficit. Might ramp up in the run up to the election I guess.
  13. What is the point in our democratic system when politicians can just deliberately avoid answering the question until the asker gives up. It's not skillful or clever wordsmanship, it's just complete horseshit. I know this isn't new but it feels like the post Brexit Tories have really stepped up with this. How can we possibly have gotten to a point where Sunak can totally avoid the question like this and proceedings just continue on? It's disgraceful. You wouldn't see this lack of accountability in nursery school amongst the toddlers ffs.
  14. Do they really have a load of wonderkids? BTW thanks for replies on Kane - read all of them, good points made. Just going to chalk it up to the boring perception since the word "beige" is what I think of whenever I see his name.
  15. I mean, I might underrate those abilities but clearly most of you lot don't. I don't think I've ever watched the guy and thought "damn, what a player". Granted, I don't watch spurs and only vaguely follow England, but whenever I see him he looks devoid of ideas and in need of someone else to do most of the heavy lifting for him. I think Wilson is a more technically gifted player even if he's not as prolific. I'm very aware that this is a minority view and that I am very likely wrong, but I just haven't seen what everyone else sees I guess.
  16. What is it that he does well in his actual game that allows him to score so much? "Well" in this case meaning better than average for most PL players. His technique, whenever I see him, is ok. Aerial play is ok. Maybe positioning is what he's so good at? Obviously I do accept that he must be very good at something, but like fuck can I describe what it is I don't think I'll ever rate him but again suspect that I'm just wrong.
  17. Suspect there are many good reasons why we're wrong mate, but this is also my view and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
  18. We were ok, all the usual issues of not being able to score coming into it though. Not yet the finished article, and I guess to win things, you need to be closer to it than we are. At least they made a good game of it.
  19. Nervous as fuck. A chance to finally kick this stupid fucking trophy drought once and for all, and to properly achieve something as a football club. If we win this, I will never hear from anyone that the League Cup is a meaningless competition. I'll defend it to the fucking death for what it would mean to our club in this moment, even if we piled League Titles and CLs on top of it. Howay the lads!
  20. I think with days like yesterday, whatever our feelings on it, it's worth remembering that we're going to get the last laugh on this and every other score that needs settling over the coming years.
  21. Rest in peace Christian. Sounds like he was a very good man.
  22. I think he'll be good for us. He'll fit the pressing style well, he's high intensity too. The guy has been a detestable twat every time we've played them but I imagine a few of our current players are viewed in a similar way. This deal doesn't shake my faith tbh, I think once Howe is done with him he'll be a better version of an already decent player.
