  1. My only concerns are the whole ship sinks in Newcastle or some corporate nonce just sees my salary and thinks it is too large for my official job role (which it is, but I do much, much more). Anyway, its pissing down, leaves are falling off the trees, nights are drawing in, now this. Quite an abrupt end to Summer.
  2. Urghhh. First proper day back at work today. E-mail telling me we have had another round of redundancies with three of my work colleagues I get on most with at risk. I've survived again, but its getting like squid games here. 'Kin hell, I need another job quick.
  3. MF takes a relaxing break, he's earned it. Highway agency confused as to why there's a 30 mile traffic jam extending down the A9 today.
  4. They're always going on about how we rewrite history.....
  5. Whey you've obvs neva been doon the Royal Quays like.
  6. No safety wink required. It's kind of what I mean. These are out of the range of even top grade professional jobs. So that leaves inherited wealth, celebrities, and CEO types. How many of those are there really in the world? This is a million quid yacht. You'd probably need to be worth 10 million to consider such an extravagance. And it's pretty puny really.
  7. The only one of those candidates I see as remotely credible is Cleverly, since Tugenhat has also veered to the right. Neither has a chance. Badenoch would be a terrible choice for them. Terrible with the media who she despises. I hope they pick her.
  8. So anyway, there was definitely more mackem tops than nufc tops on the plane back yesterday. Not many of either though tbf. Changing the subject. When I was away, I couldn't help thinking, who the fuck are all these rich cunts with yachts? I mean, if you follow the coast of Spain alone from Gibraltar to the cote d'Azure, then down Italy, include the Ballearics, there must be literally thousands of yachts, and dozens of super yachts. You'd need to be a multimillionaire to afford to own or charter even a modest yacht on the western Med I'd think. Then consider all the other coastlines, lakes etc. Who the fuck are these people and where do they get their money from? I seriously don't understand it.
  9. The first lunchtime pint is necked instantly, to relieve the hangover of the previous day. The second and third pints are drank more leisurely, to be savoured. The fourth is necked at speed along with a chaser, so you can get back to the office on time and shuffle papers for the afternoon. I'm paraphrasing from memory from Irvine Welsh's "The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs" here. The first half of that book describes functional alcoholism brilliantly. Unfortunately the second half is a bit shit. But I always identify with his sections on alcoholism.
  10. Think there was also one at the Warner multiplex which became Northumbria University, near Manors, whose old enough to remember that? Also some Mexican place iirc. When I was at Uni I house shared with a lad who worked at Deep Pan Pizza. He used to take loads of it home after his shift as a "perk". I ate the stuff for breakfast, lunch and tea for a whole year. Oh for the days I could do that and still be 28 inch waist. It was massively popular once mind.
  11. Cheers lads. You're all right of course. It was a bit of a dry bumming but if everybody is dry bummed equally I'd give myself a 50/50 chance. I doubt that's the case though as I am sure they recruit from within. And yes. It's a learning exercise. I'm a slow learner when it comes to this though. This is the third fucking time I have been asked a question about how I have actively promoted equality and diversity now, and I still haven't bothered researching an appropriate answer. It appears "well, I enjoy watching lesbians with strap ons go for it" maybe isn't the correct answer?
  12. Dejected, exhausted. Job interview today, the one I was told that I needed to do a presentation on when on holiday. So I thought about it a lot on holiday, actually used my S pen on my Galaxy to do something useful for once by writing up a plan on my flight home. Converted the plan to Powerpoint on my return, finished it at midnight, sent it off. Couldn't sleep. Tried rehearsing it this morning, it's only supposed to be a 6 minute presentation but I couldn't get it down to less than 10 minutes without missing important parts out (and the bantz I had planned to ease the atmosphere). First thing I get told its 6 minutes with a hard cut off. Fuck. Nowhere near the presentation it could have been. Rushed, incoherent. Following questions were hard. Some answered well, some not, no disasters I don't think. Interviewers are on mute while you talk and completely deadpan. Much younger than me despite being senior positions. I haven't got good vibes from this at all though overall. Just feel the whole exercise has been futile and I'll never get the job I want. If I don't get a call tomorrow I'll know its been a waste of time, added stress when I was supposed to be relaxing, and I keep getting older. Also took an extra day a/l for this shit. Oh well, back to work tomorrow, make the most of it.
  13. I did have a mate out with 3 friends in a restaurant. Long, 3 course meal. Asked for a second bottle of wine and the server gave them a card with a link to AA. Think it was California.
  14. They're another. 2 fucking glass of wine allowance on a flight to Durham Raleigh NC. When I asked for a third I got that knowing look that they were going to have to look for the AA cards (and not the American Airlines ones). I mean in my case they have a point but still. Stupid yanks.
  15. Who's the carrier? Just I flew to Cuba with Virgin once and less than 2 hours out of Gatwick, and only a "free" drink in, they shut the bar cos apparently a bunch of Scots weedgie cunts had drank the bar dry. On a fucking 747. They then all switched to duty frees getting more obnoxious every hour. Cunts. I'd have rather paid than faced a dry flight with pissed up Glasgie neds. Good luck.
  16. She sounds like the polar opposite of my MIL in literally every way there is. Condolences Gloom, sounds like she led a fulfilled life even if it was cut short.
  17. If they won the championship and we won the carabao Cup they'd be fucking devastated like. There would be more threads on us than them, with them frantically deleting or parsnipping them.
  18. Aye, I mean they also think they're going to win that league. But two things spoil it for them. One, they won't. And tow, that nagging doubt we may do well. We probably won't either like.
  19. Mackems. They're top of their league but the fewm on SMB is off the scale. Does anyone even know what ti's means from the frothing toss pot? All the usual shit about the teams we have played all being shite etc. And Brown bags passing hands. And lastly, the fact we have kept our blue-chip players is actually evidence of corruption. And Spurs are shite, of course (someone slip in genocide related joke).
  20. I see Haaland has given up on football to get the benefits of a simpler life labouring using a pneumatic drill?
  21. Not sure that's true. They're traditionally a yo yo club until recently , but we played them near our peak just post Keegan I think and under Robson. But we just never really put them to the sword and were unaware 5 in a row was a thing. Anyway, Portsmouth are shit. They're not getting promoted and regression to mean will put them back in their place midtable second tier. I'm fairly sure of this. I'm a lot less certain about our own fate now admittedly.
  22. Horrible, sorry mate. I had Hobsons choice with my Dad of having his leg amputated to give him some more time, or let nature take its course. It was all thrust on me despite me not having LPA. I chose the latter but the death took months. And you get no psychological support. It's really damaged my MH as testified on here but there you are. Take care. Don't blame the clinicians. There is inherent uncertainty in all of this. Hope he recovers.
  23. Another thread on the SMB about how morally superior they are. This is funny though. Apparently they are more humble than us too. And more intelligent. Not intelligent enough to see the irony of that comment though....
  24. The only thing I don't like about it is it is inherently ageist. But 8t could be a gateway for full FoM. A lot of people don't realise, but the 5% loss to our GDP is not mainly due to tariffs or no tariff barriers on goods. It's down to the economic impact of not being able to fill job roles. This is a complete no brainier, the lowest of the hanging fruit to pluck. Would the racists even care now? They must know the alternative is for visa for Asians or Africans to come over, often permanently. Why wouldn't you want a Lithuanian to do your seasonal work and give our kids the same chance the other way?
  25. Aye. In the article he also stresses the need for closer ties with the EU which Badenoch wouldn't do. But being in the CPTTP is a fucking nonsense which will make this harder if not impossible. Why don't these idiots understand geographic economic gravity? Either Reynolds is an idiot or a liar, take your pick.still early days though.
