  1. Yep, Jobe Bellingham, who scored what I would call a functional goal against a poor second tier defence, is England's brightest talent again.
  2. So STID3 is out. Might watch it but obviously for NUFC fans it will not be as funny as the previous 2. I suspect that will be true for the neutral too. The SMB have several threads on it of course. THis one is funny. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/netflix-exposure.1627292/ It's quite insane. To summarise, it criticises the club for not capitalising on merchandise from the first two series, which made Sunderland a massive club on all SIX continents apparently. Apparently, accorsing to half a dozen on the thread, we're jealous as fuck of them because they're on Netflix. And my favourite, Stanger Things sold loads of merchandise and that was on Netflix, so why isn't the club selling millionsof replica shirts from their shed in Bishop? Sample posts below. Like the difference in league quality thing, I'm not sure they actually get the fact that what made STID unmissable viewing, for neutrals and NUFC alike, was it was comedy gold and showed the club being utterly humiliated. The first series was a black comedy and the second was like a world class mockumentary. I fucking loved the Office, but not because Daivd Brent was a good example of an office manager. I watched it to laugh at Brent. And that was made up. Fucking hell, this brain donor Nelford apparently can't tell the difference between a sit com and a documentary.
  3. Renton

    Eurovision

You should see their sister band, WindowsMElass Sheesh.
  4. Steve Wright. Another chunk of adolescence gone.
  5. EVERYTHING'S A JOKE TO YOU EH, EH?! Our descendents, our children, are going to suffer catastrophe but that's okay as long as you can shoehorn your cheap jokes in, EH? On the other hand, they were magnificent tits, so fair's fair.
  6. This is from Sabine Hoffender, she's a German physicist, Isegrim might know about her but I think she's like a German Brian Cox, but funnier. This isn't that funny though - she not only explains how much temperature will go up but what the consequences will be to western society. A few billion deaths and a century or more of regression. Anyway, there is some research that suggest the upper estimates for climate change are going to happen, in fact higher than anything so far extrapolated. We've got 20 years before armageddon.
  7. Yeah. Given the importance of sea temperature on the climate, that is terrifying. Several reasons. First, this is just unprecedented and extremely suddedn and unexpected. Second, the oceans contain the world's energy, they warm the air and make it humid, potentially causing catastrophic rain and storms. Third, the latent heat of water makes it slower to cool down and very hard to reverse. Finally, and what most people don't realise, is the effect isn't linear. For instance, if you imagine a normal curve (bell shaped) of storm by strength, let's say the 1% tail on the right side is extreme storms. But what happens with global warming is that the whole curve shifts to the right. Doesn't take much movement for 5% of storms to become extreme etc.
  8. Quoted this for truth, absolutely spot on. They are repeatedly incapable of understanding the leagues are structured to segregate teams based on quality, and the quality of teams relates to the quality of tgeir players. Hardly rocket science. What is even more odd considering there experiences of yo yoing around the middle tiers. Getting promoted, going down on 15 points etc. How many times have they said they would beat from the top tier based on us getting a result? ManU, AC Milan, PSG, to name just a few. Even when we schooled them without breaking sweat they just don't get it. Edit: how did MancMag's trials at Barca go btw?
  9. C;assic trainspotting type quote that (slight artistic license taken). So some of these mates are -erm - more on the mature side and still want to do this nonsense? I reckon you should organise transport to do a pub crawl of Wooler. Angel, Black Bull, No 1, the one on the static caravan park next to the ice cream shop with the plastic cow, back up for duck pizza at Milan, and a fight at last orders at the Anchor. 👍
  10. PL, are these mates or are you getting paid to do this? If the former, get new mates. If the latter, we should geta cut and be charging you. Well, the toontastic posse on here advising you that is, not me or Alex. 👍
  11. Think the empirical evidence is at the upper end of the worst case scenario now. Problem is climate change appears to be a postive feedback system. Once the arctic tundra defrosts and releases several teratons of CO2 and methane the gig's well and truly up. Thirty years tops. Cup of tea anyone?
  12. NO it's not, Ted Criuz is Ted Cruz, a cowardly cretin.
  13. But in the UK at least it's a balance, a set of scales. The tories here pushing the culture war agenda won't be successful, because that's their choir, anf their choir isn't big enough. How will Trump pushing the QAnon shit possibly endear him to the mainstream. Unless you are telling me QAnon is the mainstream, which I find hard to believe? Currently 53% of people disapprove of him, but I think this will grow with his continued legal difficulties and general insanity (about 30% of current Trump voters have saifd they will not vote for him if he gets a criminal conviction). The more he exposes himself, the lower his ratings. Granted Biden is a huge concern here. I would hope though, that the majority of Americans will appreciate the Biden situation is temporary but loss of their democracy under Trump won't be. As such, they will do what many people here do come election day, hold their nose and vote for him. We'll see I guess.
  14. Dunno much about the session guitarist, but fuck me, Toyah looks amazing for her age. She was one of my first crushes when I was in short trousers.
  15. AYe. Whhooooah, that gif is quite stirring. She has the look of young Claire Grogan.
  16. Don't diss the Jimmy. I was looking at the programme ans some interesting things. The drummer was the drummer from Lindisfarne, think I've seen him around Tynemouth, one of the cast was Oz's son in AW3, and the lady on Jimmy's left there is a former Eurovision star @Meenzer. Paved the way for Bucks Fizz no less. At 60 you still would I bet, amirite?
  17. Mmmm, soft focus up the arse pegging photo, like it.
  18. Went ot see a live reading of Ian La Frenai's new play at the Live theatre yesterday, "Seconds Out". It's like a Geordie musical version of Raging Bull. A live reading is basically the stage before a dress rehearsal. All the actors perform on high stools with the script should they need it. I thought it was excellent, I was sat no more than 8 foot from Jimmy Nail who was hugely impressive. Engaging, funny, and an incredibly impressive voice for a 69 year old. The rest of the cast and the band were great too. I don't know what the plans for this play are - Northern Stage seems the logical choice - but I'd strongly recommend it especially if JN is still starring.
  19. Had some rare spare time and went for quite a long walk on Saturday afternoon, from Tynemouth to St Mary's light house and back again. It was noticeable how wet the land was, most the grass at the moment resembles marsh land and there are vast areas of waterlogged fields. These temporary lakes have been there for months now its been so wet. Anyway, I had timed it so it was high tide on the way back. Not a record breaking high tide by any means (actually 20 cm higher the next day), but higher than usual. I've lived on this coast line all my life, but have never seen it like Saturday. When I was a kid Long Sands was always walkable at high tide. About 5 years ago, I noticed at one high tide that the beach was bisected, but still passable. On Saturday the beach had completely disappeared. Additionally, the north pier of Cullercoats had all but disappeared, and at Whitley waves were crashing over the promenade and actually hitting the main road, at least 20m above sea level. Clearly there was quite a large swell favouring this, and also I'm thanking all the storms this year has actually removed a fair bit of sand, so the beach might be lower than usual, particularly the North end. But is it possible sea levels have also risen as well? A quick Google says it has risen about 10cm since 1993, which, in the right conditions, appears to make a huge difference, and this will only accelerate from now on. Waves on Whitley Bay Promenade. From the road. Cullercoats Bay. Tynemouth "Non-sands"
  20. Well, this was on the member forum. Difference between us is, I rarely if ever see any posts on here hating them or their city. As per the name of the thread, 90% of it is just laughing at their daft threads about us. No anger, bitterness. No mention of hate, scum, smashing tellys. Just a mixture of bemusement and amusemsent. Hardly even a mention of their tragic matches unless it's their other yearly play off games. Think most wouldn't even mind if they are promoted, as we know it is a guranteed source of more amusement. Of course, they know this and it makes them even more livid.
  21. Average day on the SMB, perfectly normal behaviour.
  22. Will they vote Trump though? Honestly, I just don't enough about it. YouTube keeps throwing me videos explaining how there is no realistic route to a Trump presidency. YouTube is probably just telling me what I want to hear, granted.
