Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Renton replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Klopp banned for one match, one suspended, scheduled for next season apparently. -
Really sorry to hear that mate. My mum's having scans for suspected cancer too as it happens, found out this morning. Hopefully she'll be okay but there just seems some inevitabibility in her decline if you get me, after losing her daughter and husband. You've been through some horrible health problems recently both personally and with your family. Not a lot I can say, focus on your own mental health the best you can. Don't over estimate your reslience like I did and reach out if you can. I have my fingers crossed for you.

The Daily Mail is literally the only one asking that question, the fucking spanners.

A bit cheeky and possibly hypocritical. Spongebob takes offence and squares up to MF.

As has been said, I think with Highbury it was the fact it was proper old skool set in a residential area, which seems to be the case with the "Kenny" except taken to even bigger extremes (never been there). Goodison is similar, with that church incorporating one of the corners. In general I prefer it when clubs develop thier historic grounds but the Emirates was done right, and Everton's their new ground on the docks looks like it will be good. Not been to the London stadium but heard from multiple sources how shite it is. If I was a West Ham fan I'd be pissed at swapping Upton Park for it, whatever the financial gains were.

So apparrently it's the 40th anniversary of the film "Local Hero". I have't seen it for years so must get round to watching it again if I can find it. Anyway, one mackem starts an innocent thread on it. Can you guess how long it takes to descend into pure fewm about us using the eponymous Knopfler song at SJP, he was Scottish not a Geordie, anyway Blyth's not in Newcastle, neither was Gosforth before 1974, more added fewm about Sam Fender, and then veering off to tirades about "Washy Mags"? First reply. I now I shouldn't but they're just so damn funny.

This is the reason Starmer won't be more open about Brexit and moving us towards the EEA (which would take two parliaments I reckon). Thing is, I was listening to Campbell on the Newsagents this week, and he made the point that Labour doesn't need to worry on what the Mail says any more. Anyone who still buys it is a lost cause. I think he's right. I was absolutely struck yesterday that the BBC had Brexit destroying the car industry as the headline in News at Ten. Not only that, but it was relatively forensic in its analysis by their standards, for more than 5 minutes. This would have been unthinkable a year ago. Now we are in the process of colliding head on with the shit reality of the TCA, with hundreds of thousands of jobs on the line, things are finally changing.

This is classic expectation management. It's as blatant as a mackem saying they weren't ready for promotion. Now, I tell you what I do shall I? I tell myself it's only football, it's only a game where overpaid athletes are paid to kick a bit of plastic around the pitch, a bit of fun in my spare time. There are much more important things in life, my job, my family, the future of the planet. And deep down, I know that's not true either.

Well I never. Just looked it up and he was from Morcambe! The mad bastard.

Line and sinker.

I'm going to get a stern tut from HMHM but I really wanted Boro to go up. Always got on okay with smoggies and a bit of regional rivalry, with us with the whip hand, would be canny. Luton, naah, they can get fucked. Ditto Coventry. Only good thing to come out of those towns besides mass produced cars is Eric Morcambe in the former and Terry Hall in the latter. From memory we used to batter Coventry in the PL like.

Apparently it's all part of The Project. The only place on the internet that discusses this project is the SMB. From what I can gather, it means investing in the academy or players from the lower leagues, letting the players develop a bit, and selling them if they are any good, then getting all your best players on loan from PL clubs and not buying them, and then rinse and repeat. And a mandatory manager change of once a season, although two or three changes is preferred. Then somehow you are challenging in the upper midtable premier league like Brighton, without actually being there. Or something?

I get no satisfaction knowing the traitors have no accountability and have bailed on the UK after fucking it. Just hatred I'm afraid. I don't know a single person who supported Brexit in real life btw, excepting some neighbours (possibly). Not one. But we're all suffering the consequences regardless.

Yeah, it's fairly close imo. Mowbray has the look of an old ugly Odo from Deep Space Nine about him I reckon (nerd, I know) Tony Mowbray Odo from Deep Space Nine

It's pyrrhic thoughisn't it? UK car industry employs 800,000 people. Once that goes its gone, it'll never come back. How can the country survive loss of industry on that scale. It happened in Australia in an incredibly short space of time. But Australia is a countryof vast resoucres and low population. I genuinely believe people are waking upnow. But its already too late.
-
This is pretty serious. Our car industry is under existential threat from Brexit, starting in January.

I heard that this Kevin Louise Dreyfus kid is going to be their next manager because his mam will stop his pocket money if he doesn't get a job or tidy his room. 🤷♂️ But yeah, this is fucking mental. He may be the ugliest man in football, but he did a great job getting this lot to the play offs and is well liked and respected. I did think he would struggle next year for a variety of reasons, but it's highly unlikely a replacement will do better imo.

It's 7 now isn't it?

I was trying to work out where they are on the mackem boom bust cycle but it doesn't work without derbies. But yeah, if they lose Diallo and that Leeds player and Stewart isn't really as good as Drogba then they might get off to a bad start, in which case as you say Mowbray won't make Xmas. Normal service resumes.
