We're gonna need a bigger brown bag for these inherently moral fuckers.....

Fucking hell! Tbd thread starter please.

What it is is we're getting to the time period where the boomers are dying out. That's a large cohort but also coincides with the age of celebratory and mass media consumption. This thread is going to grow exponentially in coming years. Then it will just be you tubers and love island cunts dying and I won't care because I'll either not have a scooby who they are or more likely I'll be brown bread myself.

Bye Thelma pet.

Well, tbf big Pharma pay my wages. I'd prefer that wasn't the case, but working for the NHS is shite nowadays with pay and t&cs in permanent decline. But my personal experience is the industry is it is very heavily regulated, probably moreso than any other outside aviation, and all my clients play by the rules. I have zero idea about commercialisation in developing counties admittedly, although that may change with some projects I have in the pipeline. Haven't read the book but it might be biased as well. Ben Goldacres book Bad Pharma was a bit hyperbolic I thought. Still, he needed to sell books to make money, like everyone else. Ateod it's all capitalism.

I thought the AZ vaccine was not for profit?

I had an interview for my dream job a couple of years ago as it happens. Interview was going brilliantly, proper rapport for 45 minutes, then I got a final question on the one part of the job I'd neglected to think about and I was fucked. They tried for 15 minutes to coax me into giving the right answer and getting me over the line but I just couldn't work out what they needed to hear. Didn't get the job, then cos of personal reasons I didn't get any feedback. Still bugs me what the answer to that question was. WHY WON'T YOU ANSWER MY SIMPLE QUESTION!!???
-
Aye. Early days. Sometimes vacancies are advertised as external but they've already got someone in mind so it doesn't really matter how you've performed. Getting an interview is a good sign. Also it's really not a great time of year for this, things will probably pick up in the New year. Good luck and try not to let it get you down (easier said than done I know).

The royal family can't officially hold political views so communicate via clothing, not too subtley often.

Yea, that helped. But fuck me, looking back, Cheltenham, Liverpool - Athletico (Madrid being badly affected by then). And then finally, didn't they give advance warning that Friday 20th would be the last day of pubs being opening causing packed out pubs? Unbelievable stupidity.

Indeed, We need to start a movement to advance the teachings of MF. "The moden day church of the Monkey's Fist". Three word motto. Climb, Celebrate, Clunge. I have already got the mark brother.

I've been semi-following this enquiry. I'm fairly sure early March I and others states we needed to lockdown ASAP as it was clear the infection was seeded and its growth is exponential. Hancock yesterday admitted if we had locked down in early March it would have saved 90% of lives in the first wave. However, he said that required hindsight. It didn't though, we knew it at the time on here. Half tempted to senf the enquiry a link to this thread. More wisdom on here than in the entire governmental apparatus.

Fuck me, they've put a cap on the afterlife? Worse than fucking Braverman that lot.

Disclaimer: my preface is that I appreciate the honesty in this post and do not want to appear insensitive to other posters' strongly held beliefs or feelings. If you think you may be offended, please stop reading! With that said, I personally find Pascal's wager as the ultimate cop out. I can't even get my head around how you can be so transactional and how you think an omniscient God wouldn't know this. I guess the harm comes from what you have alluded to and admitted burying - your belief that 99% of this board are going to hell, or at least that is what your religion states. That can't be a good feeling. Fortunately for you I guess you were born into the right faith, you could just as easily been born a christian, jew, or to humanists and you'd have much less chance of avoiding the fiery pit like the rest of us? I guess what this tells me is that religion forces us to decompartmentalise our minds. It's really not possible to be a scientist and be religious without doing this imo. Often, the more people think about religion, the less comfort it gives. My Dad converted to catholicism to marry my deeply catholic mother and I think really struggled to rationalise his religousity with his rationality all his life, worsening the older he got and the closer he got to death. I don't believe it helped him, I don't believe it gave him any comfort. Of course, I couldn't really discuss it with him in the way I am doing here. My Dad is dead. Gone. I won't ever meet him again. It's very sad, I still grieve my loss, but it's the truth and I have to accept this and make the most of relationships at this point in the spacetime continuum. Ultimately, the past is as real as the future, but I can't sense the past in the same way. We have one life only. On the other hand, I am absolutely certain that I am not going to hell, even if an Abrahamic God does exist, 'cos what type of cunt would give me the background and knowledge he has, let me live a relatively short life, and then torture me for eternity? I wager that doesn't make any sense at all.

This. Dreamless sleep. If you've ever had a general anesthetic, they inject you with propofol or whatever, and get you to count backwards from 10. You get to 7, and you're out. You wake up somewhere else, in a recovery room. You have literally no concept of the time that has passed, a whole section of your life has been erased. To me it is obvious death is the same, only this time you don't wake up. You can bang on about pseudo-scientific bullshit like energies etc. if it makes you feel better. Doesn't change the reality the neurones in your brain have stopped firing impulses and your conciousness is no more. There is zero mechanism or evidence for the existrence of a soul that outlives death. Historically it's been used as a comfort blanket to take away from the real miseries of existence and then used as a tool by churches of all denominations to control us. They have no place in the 21st century. I don't get why people think there must be some greater meaning to life either. Why does there have to be? Life is amazing as it is, just enjoy it as much as you can with the confines of your own situation - physically, menatally, and financially. There are theories in cosmolgy about the existence of a multiverse where the conditions will be exactly the same for you to exist elsewhere. I have thought a lot about this in the past but still don't know what it means. Nothing probably, I don't need that comfort blanket now either though. Do I fear death? Yes, a bit, I think we all do. No more existence. Pretty massive. But then, without getting too deep in cosmology again, if spacetime is a continuum in the way we think it is, it's like asking if I fear the time before I was born. Of course, the difference is, I fear the opportunities lost, the cessation of my relationships with friends and family, and just being sentient. That makes me sad but I have to accept it. What I really, really fear, after witnessing the passing of my sister and father, is the dying process itself. I also fear castastrophic disability more than death. Funnily enough, the line from the Pogues "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" comes to mind. "Never knew there were worse things than dying". There are many, many things worse than dying. There. Renton's views on the cheery subject of death. Let us enjoy life and let death be as good as it can be. We all die. Death makes us equal. Being dead itself is nothing to fear.

Absolutely. I know I keep banging on about it but the lies ultimately catch up on you and destroy you. This is true in people's personal lives as well as in politics. Issues like climate change, for instance. Empires have fallen because leaders would not tell the truth. You can't deny reality. Reality is there whether you like it or not. The 2019 GE was based on a lie, fronted by the biggest liar of the lot. Now we are all paying, and people can't lie about it anymore, because they can't afford to eat properly or heat the house anymore. Pretty hard to ignore being cold and hungry. The other thing Johnson in particularly did was remove all competence from the party, purging the party of what little talent they had. Now they're not even good liars. I can't help reflecting on the passing of Darling. Him and Brown actually handled the global crash incredibly well and professionally, reduced the damage it inflicted on the UK and actually had us back in growth before the tories snuffed that out with a decade of austerity. They were taken down by the liars in the conservative party and their client press. Not helped by what Brown said to the old lady. We always wonder what the true sliding door moment was in our decline. In truth, there are probably many, but Brown forgetting to switch the mic off was a huge one. And, where I agree with @Rayvin, the mistake was for Labour to not challenge the lie until it was so entrenched it was not possible. I hope once in power Starmer has the strengh to genuinely challenge the lies of the conservative and unionist party. We'll soon see. Oops, gone off on one again. tl/dr: truth is important, tories are lying cunts.

Ask Esther if her office is next to the office for the ministry for silly walks?
-
I watched her for a bit on QT last night. It was from prime red wall territory in Donacaster. A couple of observations: She was openly mocked with the entire audience in stitches at her position of "minister for common sense". Even Bruce was royally taking the piss. One of the other panellists asked if her office was next top the ministry for silly walks . She was completely humiliated. No doubt she will claim she was bulled. A gammony looking older man in the audience asked, regarding levelling up and immigration, if we should be honest and admit Brexit was a mistake. If someone had done this a couple of years ago, he would have been ripped apart. He was applauded. The tide is turning on this, it is no longer a weapon for the tory cunts.
-
How very dare you. Maybe when you are hard enough to get your own action man in the centre aisle of Lidl, then you can mock.

Good news, I am going and will save the day. My record is fucking tremendous this year, and last year too* (nothing to do with our home form generally being great I am sure). This, combined with the divine righteousness of tbd on our side, will be enough to banish the malignant vibes emanating from the tofu eating, hover board riding, southern ponce. * Liverpool gamesd don't count.

The last battle is blatantly islamophobic too. Also, a lot of his stuff was nicked from Tolkein, just "kidified". So yeah, I's agree C.S. Lewis < Jimmy Corkhill, but JFK massively bumps up the '63 deaths and they win on aggegate.

I read a scientific paper on conicidences once. You have to factor in all the "incidences" together which makes a pretty enormous number. Coinicidences are inevitable, but as usual our pathetic human brains aren't wired to understand this.
