A staggring graph, and all within the government's control. Yet the only thing they want to talk about is small boats and sending 200 people to Rwanda. This country is insane.
-
Might add, I'm not blaming immigrants for anything! They should boost GDP. Just think they might be masking a bigger problem in the economy (falling productivity).
-
No, I'm not talking about small boats/refugees, which is comparatively negigible. This 672,000 figure is legal immigration, which the government now has full control over. A mixture of people coming for work, family of people coming for work, and students.

We're witnesssing our GDP per capita falling by 1% per annum, which is never talked about. Now for the racist bit. When we had FoM in the EU, the large majority of immigrants were young productive people who worked and boosted our GDP. They then either settled here or went back to their respective countrues. Now we have few Europeans coming over (in fact net loss I think), and whoever is coming over is not boosting our GDP. That's clearly not a good thing imo, I'm interested in other viewpoints or whether I am missing something fundamental here.

Well I'll let the bean counters flick their beans at each other. Why is nobody talking about the fct we are increasing our population by 1% per annum but not seeing any growth?
-
Question for any economists on here if there is any (I dabble but not really in macroeconomics). Maybe the bean copunters ewerk or Gemmill can help. Net immigration numbers today - 672,000. Now what I want to know, does GDP take this into account? So, when we get the GDP figures, that's not GDP per capita, is it? Shouldn't, all thing being equal, immigration alone should provide a GDP boost of 1% per annum. But we're not seeing this, so in meaningful terms, the economy is contracting?

First time I've ever heard that phrase.

Ha ha. Jason Donovan? Jason Massive Lads Fan more like. Just looked and he's playing at the Glass House (formerly Sage). That's Gateshead marra. Gateshead is in County Durham marra, which is part of Sunderland marra. He's one of us. FTM.

True, but howay, you don't say it. Reminds me once I was giving a talk about some research I had done based in Stoke on Trent. We were quite an informal bunch and I described the place as "the arse end of the Universe", which was fine, considering the context of the study. In the any questions bit my line manager raised his hand. "Do you know where I'm from Renton?" "Erm, no now you come to mention it Paul" "I'm from Stoke, Renton". Oh how we laughed.

Blimey, I thought Cleverly was one of the better ones.

I am imagining it is a transitional place for this, not long-term storage. That shit is all gathering dust in the attic.

Alternatively, it will all work out swimmingly and solve all my garage related storage problems? And I will further contemplate what has become of my life.

"Mandatory work placements". Tories are literally bringing back the work houses!

Oof. Over on Weirdside....
-
Ooohm, nice. I've asked Santa for some garage shelving. And I'm not even kidding.

Why do I listen to PMQ? It literally makes me feel murderous.

Tories last roll of the dice today. Fucking cunts.

Probably. It might have been one of the first singles I bought tbf and one of the best examples of a narrative song ever. It's brilliant and I love the fact the bands name shows it was always intended as a one off.

Random thought for the day. Why is it that some songs I have loved for years or decades, play on an almost daily basis, and still don't know the words off by heart? But when a reference is made to Anthony Gordon, all of a sudden "Gordon is a moron" by Jilted John gets in my head and despite never listening to this for 30 years I know every lyric of the entire song (verse and chorus) off by heart? I've been going out with a girl Her name is ju u u lie But last night she saifd to me While we were watching telly......... ............ Oh she's a slag and he's a creep She's a tart, he's very cheap She is a slut, he thinks he's tough She is a bitch, he is a puff Yeah yeah, it's not fair Yeah yeah, it's not fair
