Urghh man, wash your mouth out, the UK office was genre defining and I can still watch it cos it just got the zeitgest right. Seinfeld has definitely aged quite badly mind.
-
It's funny but thinking about it, in the UK often after a seminal comedy the actors go on to do great things, like the Office, Royle family, Auf Wiedershen for instance. I can't think of anything decent any of the cast Cheers did except some films by Woody Harrelson maybe. Danson in Curb perhaps, but that's a cameo. Seinfeld the same, some people like Veep with Julia Louis-Dreyfus I suppose (and yes, I'm aware most on here don't rate the original). Alan Alder maybe in Mash. Oh, and Will Smith after Prince of Belair, very much an exception though. I guess you can just retire after a hit US comedy. Okay, probably just talking shit outloud the more I think about it. Kelsey Grammer is an unfunny arsehole, we'll leave it at that.

Think the film is a bit style over substance as well tbh. I mean, the fact it was taken in one-shoot is genuinely incredible. But its about a chef in a posh restaurant ateod. More just a vehicle to show off Graham's talents I think. The series is quite different but imo too short, they don't give the characters enough time to explain their background or develop them. The four episodes feel like a trailer for the inevitable second series.

I hated it first time round. Absolute shit.

I mean, what did you expect? A light meoldrama with an uplifting ending?

His defenceis it's a kangaroo court and the elite are trying to censor him because he believes in a soverign Britain. Wibble.

Meanwhile the party of law and order:

You've done the right thing in closing the other thread which trivialised the issue and had fucknuts like Parky and opening this one. We shouldn't censor this issue, everybody has been respectful imo. There are clear sensitivities to navigate with Gloom and aimaad, just like real life. In my office, I have colleagues who have relatives in Israel being called up, and a colleague with immediate family in Gaza. This isn't an esoteric issue, it is affecting a lot of people in the UK and must be faced. Maybe that will become a positive, that the issue will have to be resolved now rather than left to fester for dacades with people just thinking "not this shit again in Gaza/west bank" and switching off the news.

See, I don't agree with this at all. It's a message board, General Chat is all about sharing opiniions and feelings about World events as well as funny stuff. I agree this topic needs extra sensitivity, but I don't see anyone trying to win an argument here. In fact, we're all pretty much in agreement the whole thing is a shit show. But exposing the hypocrisy of the politics here with particular reference to the UK is what we do. Participation on this thread is optional and those that are contributing aren't weird. Okay. maybe some are, but not cos they're on this thread.

Watched boiling point, good as expected but found it quite depressing. I wonder if Stephen Graham has ever done anything uplifting in his career? Also obviously set up for a sequel. It's interesting how this and the Bear have both come about, apparently indepndently. In E3, a new sous chef is employed. It was really bugging where I'd heard him before then it suddenly struck me!

It seems impossible to transfer CL tickets between age categories for some reason. Another hour wasted in a queue at the box office beckons tomorrow. Fucking useless.

Divn't forget the sky hooks and nail holes marra!

They're obsessed over there with expanding their stadium so it has more seats than SJP, a la Bob Murray. Has it ever even sold out once since their last derby against us? Anyway, it can't happen according to this ITK.

Think I've seen some hung in some kids bedroom windows. This is a middle class enclave in NE England like, not sure what your point is. Just listening to the rest is politics podcast there. The point was made we've touched on previously. Hamas are now jihadists. They don't care about humanity and suffering in this life, they don't want peace. Israel can't appease them even if they wanted to. We keep ignoring the religious dimension here but it's both the cause and the reason there can be no peace with this group.

I haven't seen any Israeli or Palestinian flags here. Given the nature of this crisis, I would feel uneasy with both or either. No US flags after 9/11 either. Ukraine, yes, plenty. Why? I think because it was in Europe, it was was a relatively new conflict involving a old common foe, Russia is a country committing these atrocities, not a terror group, and it was an attack against our own freedoms. Not only that, we directly received thousands of Ukrainian refugees and wanted to show solidarity at a physical level It was personal. Ujraine was and is the exception to the rule.

Well, war crimes aren't determined by the number of casualties necessarily. Both sides commit war crimes. A question for you though, given the stated aim of Hamas is not only the extermination of Israel but also the Jewish people, and given they were actually elected in Gaza, what do you think Israel should do? It's a massively fucked up situation with no solutions I can see.
-
I don't think that's either true or fair. Gloom has condemned the leadership of both sides. and if I'm not mistaken, is in support of a fair and functional two state solution. Part of the problem here is the asymmetric nature of the power, which means there will always be far more Palestinians killed and displaced compared with Israel. My own feeling is Israel must show restraint and patience now, not fall into the trap Hamas has set to ignite the entire region. Public buildings and hospitals must be protected, power and water must be restored, the evacuation order should be rescinded. Because otherwise it is clear Israel is commuting a war crime and no way should we support that. They will and we will though.

What? Stop being a silly Billy. Are the Tories fascists or bordering on it? There are 14 recognised signs of fascism. I personally count about 10 to 12 in the current government. Numbers 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14. So we're three quarters there. How many can you count?

Didn't even know Vickers still made armanents tbh. He'll be back outside M&S next week.

I hope you're pleased with yourself wasting all those police resources then.

Yes, we've been through this before, it was used down your neck of the wood in Swans, but not much outside of that I don't think personally. Then John Hall (who strangely was an MLF according to them) said something about a Geordie nation, and they collectively pissed themselves and clung on to the only term that existed that differentiated them from us, an insult invented by us. So yes, even their real nickname comes from us.

I'm assuming its the population who know Brexit is failing but blame it on the tories not giving us a "proper" Brexit. The no deal cunts. I never even knew that cunt Habib was their co-leader, sure he isn't normally introduced on QT as such.
