Ahh right. Just old news then. I think it's largely been known Ukraine will join NATO once the war is decided. NATO can't take on new members during an active conflict. So doesn't change anything really.
-
I can't see that news anywhere. It's a well known aspiration, but can't happen whilst the conflict continues.
-
On the other hand maybe Burgon didn't get the memo.....
-
I bet you the thought of close contact with a young Bush gives you a twinge, amirite, you dirty old man.

The most sovereign nation on the planet is North Korea. That's some fucked up aspiration to have. Just been on a call with European colleagues. They are literally laughing at us (not in a malevolent way, just in a "dude, what the fuck did you just do" way). The situation is beginning to impact directly on my job, and not for the good. You can repaeat this times milliions for those of us who have the types of jobs that bring in money to the country (services sold to Europe in my case). Doesn't directly affect th Whetherspoons pensioner, although of course it massively affects them indirectly.

I can't wait until the UK becomes the next Silicon valley though. Oh.

Not that anyone here needs telling, but anyway:

I've watched it twice already, it has tremendous replay value. I mean obviously I felt a tremendous pull to become a MLF, but somehow I resisted. Highlights have to be Darren Bent scoring for Burton, Darron Gibson causing damage reminiscent of an F3 tornado on a residential street in Sunderland, Charlie Methhead changing the ground's music to some utter shit Ibiza trance, and of course the absolutely hilarious bidding war the shrewd operator Donald Stewart (or is it Stewart Donald, I can never remember) had with himself over buying Will Grigg. It's up there with my top 10 Netflix programs of all time like. Breaking Bad > Better Call Saul > Sunderland 'til I die.

"Mr Fist, we've warned you before about storing deceased prostitutes with the poultry. Never mind, we'll let it slide. WHAT?! You didn't check the screenwash levels according to the SOP!!!??? YOU'RE ON A DISCIPLINARY SON".

So this is the pedestrian crossing the sider road, not the main road, got you. Whether you're driving, walking, or cycling, try not to be an entitled wanker is my motto. There are entitiled wankers in all of those categories. A few weeks ago I was half way on a zebra crossing with my family and a driver saw us late so slammed on his brakes. He was then rear ended by the following car. That car then shot off with a screech of tyres and the car that did the emergency brake (which had scared the shit out of us) raced after him. They probably ended up doing nearly 60 in a 20 as a result. Presumably the one that fled was on drink or drugs so didn't want it reported. Both of them, absolute wankers. Didn't bother reporting it though as in the confusion I didn't get the plate numbers and what's the point?
-
Wagon drivers are the worst man. Especially those ones with freezer compartments.
-
I mean I will stop where it's reasonable but does this apply to trunk roads? Also I'm happy to let someone cross before I get onto a roundabout but I don't want to stop on the roundabout when I'm coming off it, cos I'll likely get rear ended.

More Brexit bonuses. Not only will Brexit fuck your holiday, now you won't be able to claim compensation for it. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/apr/19/britons-delayed-at-dover-to-miss-out-on-compensation-if-eu-law-scrapped

Well I'm a luvvie at heart and love the teatre and the Panto. Thinking about joining Dame training school actually. But I missed PMQ today. Was Starmer poor? Reading the Guardian he came up with: I think this is spot on, it resonates, and is the simple line he needs to take over the coming year. Economists also say people will feel at their most squeezed over the next 12 months. I think also with the collapse of the SNP Labpour will win a landslide. My criticism of Starmer is not using this opportunty to effect real change. Instead he's let his party go as low as the scum they're opposing (okay, maybe not that low), a race to the bottom.

100% can sympathise here. Everything has turned to shit since the pandemic. I don't know if it's just people "staycationing" more or what, but the congestion around mine with cars parked everyfuckingwhere drives me nuts. Cut backs to the plod probably don't help. We also get boyracers up the coast. A few years ago a lad from my kid's schools was ran over by one of them and killed on a zebra crossing. They still do it, although its not as bad as it was. I can't tell you how much I hate these cunts. Edit: just checked and he was actually run over on the pavement. Just turned 18 years old, life gone. The drivers involved got 11 years. Hates probably the wrong emotion, just sad that it was allowed to happen and could happen again.

All the other teams above them bar Millwall have a game in hand, with Blackburn having two. Plus three teams just below them who can overtake them if they win their game in hand. Its already over imo. Boo hoo how sad.

Tory cunts being tory cunts. Labour can't be trusted on the economy.

Back on topic, It's a typical ITV drama production. Relatively low budget, mediocre acting, average script, mixture of library footage and filmed scenes which to me are incongruous. A lot of it was filmed in Bradford apparently as the good people of Birtley didn't support it. In a word, no, not really.

They're canny like. Now everything is a stained glass window,

As chance would have it, I've just had a glazer round to give me an estimate on......... a stained glass window.

Yeah, we've all mellowed but he's straight on here douibling down on it tbh. It's topical because if you watch the drama in question a lot of it is how Moat was glorified on social media, and this place was no exception then unfortunately. For the record, I can't be arsed with antagonism any more. SInce this that thread I've moved job twice, moved house 3 times, had 2 kids, and lost many loved ones. I think this place is much better not having the radges now tbh, I come on here for a laugh, not an argument.
-
You fucking didn't like. And yeah, I left a link to the thread for anyone who wants to check for themselves. A few days after the lass is shot and wounded, her partner murdered in cold blood, you write this "His lass is a horrible slag from Scotswood.... and the only evil he ever did to her came from her hideous makes me ashamed to be geordie ugly cunt who magma wouldn't even shag of a sister". Victim blaming at its finest you misogynystic bellend. You even defended him over child abuse you absolute whopper.
-
On a more depressing note, but also related to the TV program which highlights the social media problem at the time, later in that thread you have Stevie expressing sympathy for Moat and calling his gf "an ugly slag" and Parky actually supporting his behaviour, his shooting and maiming woman, who "deserved it", seriously. Oh, as well as him physically abusing his 9 year old daughter. I'm glad this place filtered out people like that, absolutely sickening comments.

So one of the things I find utterly fascinating about this board is how perpetual it is and it's all kept for posterity. So watching this Raoul Moat drama now on telly I'm reminded we had a dedicated thread on him. Feels strange to read older versions of current posters, ex posters (such as Manc mag, aka the grey man, aka manc fop-lite), ex versions of Alex, and most of all yourself from more than a decade ago. First page I found this, and a toontastic meme was born. Fop was a prolific poster and was never heard from again after this timeline. Makes you think.
