You can also get local plumbers to do an annual service once a year to put your mind at rest for a fraction of the cost. And thanks for you kind thoughts in my battle against my spare tire Fish, God bless you. I'll PM my paypal detals.

So not sure its much consolation but if you had signs that early I'm not sure that would have been due solely to smoking? Lots of drugs to help you quit smoking - bupropion, varenicline, nicotine replacement, all available from your GP if not the respiratory clinic. Use all the help you can get. You've got a family which I'm sure is all the motivation you need. Not saying it will be easy but it is/was enough to motivate me to get off the booze. Ironically my liver scans have shown no physical damage at all which in a way doesn't help in the temptation stakes (!) but I know it will fuck my brain nonetheless so no thanks. Good luck.

Similar situation. Boiler (only 2 years old ffs) kept losing pressure and cutting out overnight. Works when you refill it but still, didn't need the stress over Xmas, so called BG who I've got a care plan with. Three weeks wait, which they charge you a call out fee. Had a scheduled service a weeks later (now this Friday), so have held on til this and then will just cancel it. My plan currently costs more than my internet or house insurance ffs (they put it up after my introductory year expired and I forgot to cancel/renegotiate). As far as I can tell, there is no point in a BG service contract, just going to stick to local contractors.

How have you only found out now if you don't mind me asking? How has it been diagnosed so far? But definitely quit immediately mate, regardless of the results of any more diagnostic work up. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the offer, think I'll decline.

Well that's depressing. Just measured on Google maps, an so-called "Long" sands is only 1.3 Km, so I'd have to do it both ways twice! Christ I need some chocolate.

Cheers, love hill walking, or just walking in general, but it's just a time thing. So I tend to "binge" 2 or 3 times a year on holiday. Fine going up hill but downhill absolutely fucks my knees and hips. Anyway, @Gemmill has motivated me to try couch to 5k, just aiming for 5k 3 times a week. I reckon that's the length of Long sands there and back, so could quite easily slip this into my routine after the school drop on days I wfh. Feels good to have an actual target, cheers lads.

Yeah, you are. The lads (and lasses) I work with are in their 20s, I ould be slaughtered. Even in my late 30s I woke up the next morning with the pains you were describing, now I doubt I could get out of bed.

Yeah, I tried that last year, first time in 30 years. Turns out you can forget how to ride a bike. There's swimming as well but, you know what, I think I'm just too fucking lazy.

Quite literally the last item by the sounds of it. I was asked at work if I wanted to join the 5 aside. I just laughed. I'm more likely to be playing walking football with CT at my age. But as my mental health hopefully gradually improves this year, I really want to improve my physical fitness and appearance too, get some synergy going there. I've been too scared to go on the scales for the past 3 years. They did weigh me at hospital in August and I think I was about 96 Kg, which considering I was dehydrated and half starved is pretty shocking. I need to shift at least 10 Kg off that to be within the bounds of comfort I think, would love to lose 15 Kg. Reckon this will be more achieved through diet than exercise mind. Not interested in the gym. I'm just dubious about the benefits of running because of the long-term impact on your joints, as I already have arthropathy (cause not diagnosed). But then again I practically live on a beach so I guess this could help soften the joint impact. But a question to the runners on here - do you have to enjoy it top keep doing it, and at what point does enjoyment kick in? Because I know its not sustainable for me without some pleasure, but I just can't imagine where that is derived from.

It was more a joke really but yeah, done that. Fortunately I have the memory of a broken sieve so will have forgotten anything by the time I get around to watching this!

FFS!

i've never been there but do know just because you have allocated seating does not remove or mitigate all the issues to do with crowd control. As you say makes little difference to access areas. Apparently its us being entitled. God I hate these cunts.

You probably give Germany the credit for Hitler too, don't you?

Not really, only so much Musk, Bezos, Gates et al. can do, and I don't want their charity anyway. The problem is a structural isssue with capitalism itself and upcoming market failure in pharmaceuticals. Actually, the problem is much worse in antibiotics which has the making of a genuine catastrophe in waiting, the end of modern medicine as we know it. Human beings have taken the wrong political choices and we will all literally pay for it.

I'm using a Google nest hub to do all those things (except the front door, although I will get a nest door bell soon when my front door is replaced). Also got integrated Nest thermostats. Love the slideshow showing my favourite photos too, and video conference on it is good. All useful stuff. Just the fucking lightbulb and having to "split" my router to pair it is fucking me off out of principle. There's an obvious solution to it as well. Just allow me to force my phone into 2.4 GHz mode, problem sorted. But I've searched the internet and you can't do this on Android or IoS. So the light has gone back, its a step too far.

Two countries. What a two countries.

So my external lights have switches next to the ir respective doors, with the front one having an automatic sensor (I could get this fitted for the back doors as well). If for some odd reason I want to go ut in the garden after dark, I flick them on. No effort, works. It strikes me like with your useless Roomba you are looking for solutions for problems that don't exist. And probably cauing unintended problems. For instance, What If you want to go out to observe the night sky? You'd have to go to the effort of disabling your Alexa routines, rather than just not flicking a switch. Oh.

I think so but with two huge caveats unfortunately. Firstly, there is a tendency for people to group all cancers together whereas in fact I think they represent about 100 distinct types of disease with some common modalities (immune system evasion, invasive). So there will never be a magic bullet for all and all will have to be tackled seperately. But I do expect immunological cures to work on most kinds on some level. Secondly, and of more concern to me, is the health economics question (which I now work on rather than primary research). These treatments are eye wateringly expensive and I can't see that chnaging for a very long time for the rarer cancers. This poses huge questions of how we pay for this. Given the way the World is going, I strongly suspect only the rich will benefit, at least initially.

There's a section of metro line between Meadowell and Percy Main where you can witness sights like this pretty much guranteed any time after 1 pm when the locals wake up. I've just wasted a shit load of time trying to get one of these smart bulbs to work on my network. Thought it'd be easy, but nooo. Won't recognise my phone because it's on the 5 GHz network apparently, even though my router says its on 2.4 GHz when Im upstairs. So apparently I have to split my router into both bandwidths and risk having to reenter the password for all my devices? Fuck that, I'll just keep on using the fucking light switch thanks.

Thought they had scrapped the two legged semifinal format permanently after covid, but I see they haven't, which I think I prefer. Anyway, 2 teams sides away then.
-
Mind, we would have had Fleetwood at home, presuming the Butterfly effect wouldn't have fucked that up. Which is annoying.
-
Also see the mackems have drawn Fulham away. Probably one if the worst draws they could have got. I would imagine now Fulham are virtually safe but nit really in Euro contention, they'll be well up for the cup. On the other hand, iirc they were saying Fulham were the shittest side in the Premier league when we beat them 4-1 at Craven Cottage, so this should be a piece of piss for them.
-
Beat Leicester on Tuesday, which we should, and we are two games from a trophy. And the mackems will be bricking it. But if it doesn't happen this year, which would be about 5 years ahead of schedule in my mind, I'm absolutely confident it will happen quite soon. Because yes, in some metrics, we are the richest club in the World and that's how it works. Fucking morons.
