Then there is literally no point in them.

Surely 2 days, an extra one for Charle's coronation. I'll let him off if we get that.
-
See the SNP are calling this the Truss tax. That's good, Labour should start using it and get it to stick.
-
Dunt has always been tepidly for the monarchy, hasn't he? It's a viewpoint I find hard to undersatand if you believe in breaking down the class system and meritocracy, like Truss did when she was a piglet.
-
I'm not detecting much respect for the reigning monarch, anywhere. Makes you think what it will be like when it's Charles' turn, if we ever get that far. Tbf Truss would be the perfect person at this time to abolish the cunts, given her known antipathy to them. Somehow I don't think that will happen.
-
So Truss put some ricin in the queen's tea then? I'm unusually in the office today and my colleagues (most whom I barely know IRL) have arranged a sweepstake for when she'll croak. Quite surprised at this, good lads and lasses.

The good old days.

Details aren't important man.
-
Did she say anything about help to businesses there? Does this £130 Billion cover them? Because if it doesn't, won't we need even more borrowing, or else half the country will go out of business? What about public buildings, schools, hospitals, swimming pools etc?
-
No. The efffect on inflation of these measure is up for debate, but rates of 20% are still likely.
-
I agree mainly although I didn't expect any bounce. Possibly people relieved that they will not freeze to death this winter will help. even if that does jeopardise the economy and lock them into a lifetime of impoverishment whilst the energy companies rake in tax payers money. Mind, the fact that Truss will do this, which is about as far away as the free market neoliberal idealogue she has been presented as, prove she has no idealogy and is purely in it for herself in the short-term, just like Johnson.
-
Well I never. @Rayvin might have been right. Never underestimate the sheer idiocy of the British electorate. I maintain that it's early days and Truss will undoubtedly fuck things up, but we'll see.
-
We're already taxed more than at any time in living memory. Not sure you can increase taxes during a cost of living crisis. They don't propose unfunded tax cuts though. And yeah, the windfall tax isn't a minor difference.

I know right!?
-
So just looking at Coffey's wiki page and she's single and a Liverpool fan. Fill your boots @Monkeys Fist.
-
It's fairly obvious Truss is just continuing down the Johnson path, albeit less capably and with even more incompetent acolytes. And Rayvin is still crapping hhimself about her winning a landslide GE.
-
Jesus Christ.
-
A couple of weeks ago she was saying there will be no direct state intervention to help with energy bills. She is not a woman of conviction, she is not a lady not for turning.
-
Did she say that or was it Starmer?
-
But freezing bills won't be that popular, because they won't see the counterfactual. Inflation will still be insane and very noticeable though.
-
Is she doing anything for businesses? That's perhaps the real challenge. She has already stated she will wait until 2024 before she has to call a GE (although that means fuck all), but what will the effect of putting the energy bill on the tab be in 2 years? Also, it's been reported that her plans might exacerbate, not help, inflation. Citibank alreay predicting 22% inflation which is a fucking HUGE drop in our standard of living as things stand. The public will feel the effect of that even if they are not freezing to death. The cap is also being set at quite a high rate so I'm not sure the public will even be that grateful.
-
I'm honestly not sure any of us expected a GE prior to 2024? Maybe we did, can't really remember, but if we did I'm confused about the mechanism of it. Truss being gone by February is a pure guess on my behalf, not really a prediction. I think her going would neessitate a GE this time though so it's definitely possible the government will drag on in zombie mode before their ultimate oblivion. I'm not actually happy about this as each day they are in power we are more fucked. I would also not rule out her causing a major diplomatic incident.
-
It really has though, imo at least. This tory party cannot and will not unite. Truss will not be as popular to the general public, especially the red wall. She has none of his "charisma". Given the tories have had a mandate for 5 years in government, and nothing can change that, how could they have collapsed any more, in your opinion?
-
Yep, also don't forget the apalling opposition with Corbyn and Swinson at the helm of their respective parties. Both now also remedied.
