Urghhh. Ahh, remember the days of serial athleticism where you could jism over your shoulder? Now it's barely a thimblefull making its way past my thumb...

The negligent parent stuff is wearing a but thin. I'm not so bothered about porn, although I do think it could potentially give kids a very warped view on what is normal sex if exposed at a young age. But social media is like crack cocaine to them, it causes almost constant arguments in my house and just is not easy for parents to police. I consider myself moderate IT savvy but my 14 year old can run rings around me. Plenty parents from Gen X will be less clued up than me. It is a real issue. I dunno what the best solution is but blaming parents for the crimes of these social media billionaires and pornographers is a bit much.

What the fuck? Is there any part of your anatomy that hasn't been lopped off or replaced with bionics?

Ahh, I've been wondering what CT was holding that time preBrexit he went on Euro tour and stopped off at TSG Hoffenheim. 👍
-
Wtf is he holding there, a bottle of aftershave won from a tombola?

I don't think we'd will for the record. I hope he scores a hatrick against the fuckers.
-
If he stays I wonder what the reception will be at SJP first game of the season, especially given the opponents? And given the transfer window will still be open? Crikey.
-
Agreed. If he stays we could maybe start thinking about moving him on to one of the European supergiants next season, he should retain his value. I'd want to have someone in (other than DCL) before we let him go anywhere though. Our striker situation is frightening me.

Wrong. There were loads of redundancies which was shit but I was never going to be at risk personally. I just believe in science you need to be truthful rather than engage in the Pharma bullshit. Honestly, it's as simple as that. My old boss told me I had too much integrity. Can you have too much integrity when it comes to medical treatments? Apparently so. As a matter of fact I met a director from there a few weeks back and he offered me a job. It would be 40% on what I earn now but Id still hate it so will keep trying where I am. The pay cut is brutal mind. I might end up with no choice.

With Shearer we were challenging when he came, then he had a major injury and was never really the same player again. Suspect he might have left but for this. We clearly do need to pay to get and retain the best players. Issue is though Isak has 3 years on his contract so should not be a position to dictate terms right now.

Maybe he hates his wife so filling a skip is preferable? Just realised in saying that, is his wife your sister?
-
Yeah, you're an accountant alright. It may surprise you to learn, but many people actually do enjoy their jobs.
-
It's a different sport, if you accept that you may be able to enjoy it. Personally I enjoyed the penalty shootbout, it was quite funny. I'm not convinced that any of the elite women would be good enough to get into a professional men's side at any level though. That's just biology.

Would you leave a job you love for a job you hate for double the money? We've gone way off topic here btw, cos it's not applicable to Isak's situation, but I'm genuinely curious. If you work full time your job is a good chunk of your awake life. Working in a job you hate breeds anxiety and depression, but then so does lack of money. Nevertheless, there are plenty of people who work in jobs they enjoy and value in the full realisation they are not maximising their earning potential. So I just don't accept your cynicism pay is the only important thing. Or maybe it is to accountants.

Fucking hell.

When she takes her penalties she looks like she's going to do the high jump.

This is complete gibberish.

Somebody help me out here. A while ago on the SMB, there was a thread amassing thousands of posts saying NUFC were mags not geordies. Now apparently we're not allowed to be called mags either? So we can't sing geordies, geordies song or when the mags fo marching in? Wibble.

Reeves has been lobbied by the big finance companies to intercede in the car financing scandal. I reckon I'm owed several grand on this so not going to be impressed if she acquiesces. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/jul/25/reeves-retrospective-legislation-potential-supreme-court-ruling-44bn-car-finance-scandal?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other As for the doctors strike, they're not going to have any public sympathy this time around. The whole public sector has been fucked since 2008. They got a huge adjustment last year and have been offered thr biggest rise this year. Why should nurses, social workers, teachers, police, army personnel, civil servants etc not get a matched rise? Their actions are ultimately only going to damage the NHS.

We don't have the pull of a team like Sunderland. Clearly Arsenal don't either.

My comment wasn't specifically aimed at you, and interesting you've done the same as me Zathras. Hail fellow public servant wanker! You're point about Isak being in the same private scope of work is noted. Not going to argue about the rest, this thread and dozens or hundreds, even thousands, like it around the web will argue about player wages and player loyalty. I'm just adding to this,.people don't always need to follow the money, sometimes their are bigger things. And even if that's your path, you can and should respect the people who got you there. I'll always love the moments Isak gave me, the 50,000 in the stadium, the millions watching it on TV/video. But I loved it whoever scored. There will always be another Isak for us. If he moves to Liverpool, he'll get more money, more team success most likely, but ultimately, he'll most likely be a footnote at Anfield compared to a legend at SJP.
-
Well, on the other hand, I personally took a pay cut of at least 30% this year due to reasons of personal integrity and public service. I earn less in a year than Isak does in a week currently, shortly that will be less than he earns in a couple of days. I'm not a particular moral person or anything, but even though every pound I earn means much more to me than people like Isak, cos I need it to live, how I earn it is more important to me than him. Oh, it's a short career people say. Well okay, whatever. They're good at kicking a plastic ball around a pitch, they're good at making money, they're good at having no decent human attributes like basic loyalty. They're just a reflection of the World we live in, a world that is fucking on fire. Ultimately just fortunate idiots who are pawns like the rest of us.

Sourness in his peak? Why not?

Looking forward to the 2026/2027 season at this rate. Well, probably not.
