  1. And don't forget the risks of us being mistaken for that kids cartoon site.....
  2. I was surprised at my then work, mainly young ins, about how casually disrespectful they were of the monarchy. When the queen was on her death beds, some young whipper snapper promptly organised a sweep stake on her time of death, and we all took part. I didnt win mind you.
  3. A very strong regional identity is probably part of it. Tbh again, I see similarities with us. I don't feel remotely English although appreciate many novocastrians do. Some of the tropes about Liverpool are based in some truth. Think they're funny (usually aren't), thievery, victimhood. But I personally always get on well with scousers and really like the city. LFC and EFC can get fucked though.
  4. Pretty much my take on life at the minute.
  5. Tbf, I didn't see the match or it's run in. Why do they boo the national anthem? I mean on the one hand I'm as much FTK as the best republican, but it is our national anthem so I'm not booing it. Is it just the Irish connections with the scouse? Cos in my experience again there's more Irish that support that other red cunt team, Man United.
  6. There's no faulting your logic and I agree 100%. But it's not the world we live in. A world fucked by money and celebrity fools.
  7. Look, personally I can't stand all these sentimental one minute silences that pop up about virtually anything, football related or not. I'd get rid of 90% of them. Tun hat here, but we're actually no different to Liverpool imo. Examples being the MH17 murders which seriously went on for many, many months. And literally a whole stand was filled with flowers after Robson's passing, money which could and should have been much better spent on his charities. That said, it costs nowt just to respect it whether or not you agree with it. Booing a silence for Jota, if that is planned, will rightfully put is in a bad light. Hopefully it won't happen.
  8. Can't remember if I've told this story before, but 3 years ago I was in cala dor in mallorca when we played Liverpool. Isak's first game iirc. Anyway, by shear coincidence, the family who sit in front of us at the match, were sat in front of us at the bar. Small world etc.
  9. Agreed. But if it is requested, I think things are raw and closeenough to just respect it. Good point on when it should end mind. The MH17 thing lasted for months, made me feel quite uncomfortable. Anyway, fortunately I'll be watching this one in Ibiza. 🍸
  10. I think the Jota silence needs to be respected. It's a tragic thing to happen and has fuck all to do with these Isak shenanigans. Plenty of time afterwards to abuse the Liverpool team and fans.
  11. What's happening is absolutely disgusting but I'm not comfortable with the idea I am complicit because I'm not actively demonstrating. Nothing I can do will have any impact, save from maybe some charity donations, which I do. German civilians is another thing as I reckon you'd have had to have been very brave to risk your life against the SS. The blame lies squarely with Netanyahu and his supporters in Israel imo.
  12. What a prick. We need to fight fire with fire. @ewerk, it's time to enter your nufc batcave and get filming!
  13. Have they ever thought it might just be more profitable just to do the actual weddings during wedding season?
  14. Different but not mutually incompatible so easy enough to bullshit it.
  15. First, it's just a shrug. I honestly don't care either way. Now, maybe it's different at Sunderland for two reasons, firstly they have spare capacity so an older person could use this to get a free ticket they couldn't otherwise afford, and the club couldn't sell, and secondly, maybe pensioners are poorer in Sunderland. But thinking of NUFC, there is no space to sell any STs let alone give them away for free. But secondly, I can almost guarantee the average 85 years old at SJP will be well minted with state AND private pensions as they eat their short cake in the expensive East stand. Most will have far, far more disposable income than a mortgage and family slave like me. Its like WFA. It honestly doesn't make sense. When I was in the Lakes, I was paying £12 each time I took a bus with the family, £24 return. Pensioners rock up on the bus for free. They clearly were monied. Round here, the cafes and restaurants are rammed with pensioners, something they do daily which is a treat for families. And it's these type of pensioners that will go to the match imo. So frankly I don't give a shit what the mackems think. I still think it's an odd priority.
  16. I don't get that as a gesture at all. Why 85? Why this threshold? Is there something that happens at 85 that makes tou poorer? NO? Cynically because that is an exceptionally small cohort and it gives them good PR? Maybe.
  17. Look at ut this way. Any player can have a season long injury at any time. Look at Shearer in 1998. In those circumstances you just adapt. Its just happened to us preseason. Let's use the remaining 3 weeks to mitigate the situation the best we can. Its the same as if Isak had snapped his leg. We're all agreed that no player is bigger than the club and we can't be fucked around like this. I think Eddie Howe has acted brilliantly, as expected. He's been backed by PIF. Fuck Isak and his parasitic agents. Let this unite us. We'll ultimately come back stronger.
  18. English and double Dutch is three.
