    Was canny depressing to recently hear Gareth Thomas talking about how football is still in the Dark Ages when it comes to tackling homophobia. Anything which attempts to address that in some way can only be a good thing I reckon.

    If it was last year in the championship and we'd been playing them away without Shelvey, you'd have expected defeat. Speaks volumes about the lack of investment that that hasn't changed.

    Aye, it has the sort of feel of when I was about his age (early 80s) where loads of the kids at school would sort of have Newcastle as their team then also have a preference for Liverpool, Ipswich or Villa or whatever because we were fucking miles away from the likes of them. Especially before KK came as a player. I used to have a soft spot for Southampton purely because of him.

    I don't know, I sort of feel that way but I couldn't be doing with him supporting Man Utd/City or Chelsea or whatever. He likes Barca which I'm fine with. Not that you can do much about it really.

    Me dad used to regularly get free players' tickets back in the Keegan / Robson era so would often give away the ST he had (next to mine) and I'd usually take a mate along. One particularly week he was sat next to the lady in question when the crowd were serenading Sir Les with "He's got skill, he's got flair and he's shaggin' Dani Behr, Ferdinand, Ferdinand".
