  1. Not really. I've only ever really heard it used in regard to spirit measures or camera lenses. I'm sure that Argos bloke on youtube uses it a lot though
  2. Not if you have to explain it anyone who isn't a nerd
  3. Erm.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warriors_(Yurick_novel)
  4. Aye, it's a good film. I quite liked the 'new' director's cut or whatever with the added comic strip style bits too. It's a bit dated but still worth a watch I reckon.
  5. Once we leave the EU we can go back to 1/5 or 1/6 of a Gill?
  6. Probably not the right place or time for the debate but it's not much in terms of basic salary relative to the importance and responsibilty of the role. The expenses issue still hasn't properly been addressed and by paying them more that could probably be stopped altogether. I appreciate your post is sarcastic but, to me, they should receive more in terms of salary but not get the expenses which would lead to more transparency. The conflict of interests could be partially addressed be not allowing other business interests as previously mentioned. Your attitude is actually beneficial to the status quo though and representative of the way it would be portrayed in the media. Of course MPs themselves are largely to blame for attitudes towards them thanks to things like the expenses scandal. I think we need to ask ourselves if the current system is provided the best people possible to do what are extremely important jobs. One look at Cabinet and politicians in general answers that. Where I work we've got several contractors on our books working for a government agency who earn more than MPs. Now they're good software developers but they're also '10 a penny' in terms of what is available in London (for example) where a lot of them work. It's not really difficult to see why there's a dearth of talented politicians.
  7. If only there was some resource you had access to at the moment which could furnish you with that data
  8. The conflict of interest issue she raises is a one that applies to pretty much everything and highlights again the need for MPs to be properly renumerated but also unable to have other business interests, directorships etc. It won't prevent corruption altogether but it would be a bloody good start.
  9. Maybe he asked Moyes (for example) if he should take the job and was told to steer well clear.
  10. You got any more of these bold predictions you want to share?
  11. It would mean they'd done a coalition deal with the Tories and replaced the likely partners, i.e. the DUP. But, as others have pointed out, it seems highly unlikely they'd do it again after the last time. Even more so as they haven't even got a leader atm.
  12. I think whichever way you scored the people talking shite are the ones who reckoned it wasn't a close fight.
  13. Just realised it's the Ward v Kovalev rematch this weekend. Two of the best fighters in the sport and it doesn't even get a mention on the BBC's boxing page. Think it's meant to be on at about 2am Saturday night / Sunday morning.
  14. He'll be banging her later on tonight
  15. Does anyone else who sees someone reading Private Eye on the Metro immediately assume they're a wanker?
  16. A man after my own heart tbf
  17. I think that's just some baseless rumour that started and, due to his being so shit, people have abandoned logic because they're so desperate for it to be true.
  18. Can't blame him after all the shit he's gotten since he took over
