  1. I think the only teams they outperformed over that period were the 3 that went down. Also, when you consider Everton basically hoyed the towel in against them I don't think he did the job the media have suggested. He did a decent job though.
  2. He's gorgeous. Like a young Steve Ogrizovic.
  3. The only reason the mackems think he's amazing is because we were relegated. It hinges pretty much on that.
  4. Quite like the idea of Hales at 3. Which wouldn't help the problem of the opening partner for Cook. Of those I mentioned ahead of Root (to play at 3) I think 3 have opened although Sam Northeast bats at 4 for Kent. Think it's hard for anyone, even a specialst opener to begin their international career there. Even Gavaskar started off down the order. Cook being a notable exception. It's even harder in England with the swinging / seaming ball.
  5. I actually said similar to my lass this morning after seeing it on the news.
  6. It's not a bad thing so long as it's no longer the only recruitment strategy (which it obviously isn't atm). Take your point but it seems like a very negative way of looking at it
  7. Would tend to agree re: Trump generally but feel it may have been a massive ego trip that's gotten out of hand. I doubt he thought he'd be selected as the Republican candidate when it all kicked off. Not a fan of Hilary either, mind.
  8. Anderson and Stokes in with Rashid left out. I think what may have saved Mooen is those two changes, i.e. them not wanting to make a third, shake the side up too much.
  9. Would be amusing just to see the reaction from people if Turkey joined the EU because we couldn't veto it and the free trade agreement meant we couldn't stop any Turkish immigrants coming to the UK.
  10. Didn't realise Stevie had emigrated
  11. @@Happy Face Can you remember when you posted that poll analysis that called Obama's victory last time round about a year in advance (very accurately in terms of what states he would win iirc? I don't think they wavered at all in the run up even though others were predicting it would be close. I wondered what they were predicting this time round.
  12. I know Trump's, in many ways, the anti-establishment candidate but he's also everything many people say thay hate about politicians, i.e. all meaningless sloganism without any real substance. I still get the feeling he thinks he can say what he wants because he doesn't really believe he'll win.
  13. Had a look on wiki and I know Aaron Hughes was a canny player but he signed four Northern Ireland players What I hadn't remembered was that Newcastle defeat got him the sack.
  14. That was the original tagline but they went with 'The Ultimate Trip' in the end
  15. Close Encounters... was on recently, being noteworthy-ish as it doesn't seem to get repeated as much as a lot of films of that ilk / era. It still looked good although I, admittedly, didn't watch it properly. Thought it was amazing as a kid like.
  16. Was probably the worst game I've ever seen. I've witnessed worse results obviously but what an insipid match with both teams not interested in attacking. Think Laurie Sanchez was Fulham manager at the time. It was fucking freezing as well. Nice coke and weed though* *Added for the benefit of J69
  17. Could never understand how they hadn't sussed out that the Angela Lansbury character was a prodigious serial killer.
  18. Barton penalty with pretty much the last kick of the game. Think Alan Smith was pulled down in the box. Pretty much the only thing I can remember and probably the only memorable thing. And the wallpaper sticks to the wall...
