IPCRESS File is the best film in the series of ‘Palmer’ films (he’s only named in the films, his name isn’t revealed in the books). I think all the films are done by different directors. Billion Dollar Brain is ridiculously outdated / worth a swerve in terms of the novel and film.

Basically I just like wise-cracking dickhead protagonists (so long as it’s well-written)

The Spy Who Came in From the Cold is another good one. IPCRESS File is too from the sane series as Funeral in Berlin

Crystal Phallus v Graeme Jones’ still shite but rich doylems

That’s the funny thing about all these fans taking a fake moral stance (when the real reason is obvious). Sooner or later it bites them on the arse -
If you like a bit of noir (I know you said South American) but I think Dashiell Hammett is the original and the best. Start off with Maltese Falcon. Also if you fancy a bit of espionage from the Cold War era then give Len Deighton’s Funeral in Berlin a go. It’s not yet best film but it’s the best book of the quartet. Nice holiday reads imo

There’s a poster who used to come on here called Sima. They still post in Newcastle Online and I think they were banned on ReadyToGo? We’re wondering if it’s the same person.

He’s spot on but getting into arguments with supporters on social media isn’t worth the bother

Listen, a middle-aged bloke was sat watching a Newcastle match in the pub with his wife. The pub was full of Newcastle fans, one of whom asked this bloke if he was a Sunderland fan. He said ‘Yes, what are you going to do about it?’ The person who asked and all his mates moved to another table. That was the end of it and it was exactly what went down. It’s a bit like on Eastenders or whatever when an altercation ends the exact moment someone is bundled out of the pub and the door is closed. No comeback, no putting the windows out, no returning with a group of mates. That’s real life, marra. FTM

You have to love (yet another) series of shite unimaginative anecdotes about nonexistent interactions with Newcastle fans.

Is that the actual Sima (tbh)?

I did notice (I’ve only seen episode one) that loads (nearly all) of the fans shown seemed to be wearing old adidas NUFC clobber. It did occur to me it might be a sign that adidas were going to take over as kit manufacturer. As there was so much of the stuff it looked like it had been supplied

Best team won. The ref lost control a bit and basically let Spain spoil from the missed penalty until the final whistle. It was a penalty too but the VAR check took a ridiculous amount of time imo. But England created very little.

Whilst it was a bit of chastening experience I thought we actually did well to stay in the game for so long. Man City are probably the best team in the world, on top of which they played close to their best. Foden was absolutely sensational. Despite all that Man City didn’t didn’t create loads of chances.

Em there seems to be from the same part of Manchester as Rachel Riley -
Corporate brochure is exactly what spring to mind after episode 1. But I’ll still watch the rest and think it gives a bit of insight. Also agree with HMHM how it was good not to have the usual rent a gob (shites) ‘representing’ the fanbase

He can operate as a box to box 8 or as a more offensive 8 with a 6 and another 8 or as a 6 or alongside another 6 in a double pivot 👍🏻

Gloom’s post made me think of The Forum. Which in turn made me think of that stat about the north east being worse off than Eastern Europe
