  1. Come on, dudes. DISCUSS!
  2. Proper edgy stuff šŸ‘šŸ»
  3. Aye. Go to Cicarelli’s and order an uber would be my advice
  4. Parky used to bang on about him. He was on the (now unsurprisingly nonexistent) UFO desk at the MoD. He never reveals anything of interest from that time because nothing of interest occurred. He also made a lot of bullshit claims about the Rendlesham Forest Incident from well before his time at the MoD which a fella called Ian Ridpath debunked.
  5. Always looked down his nose at NUFC. RIP, cunt
  6. Same day it was reported the economy was performing better than expected and had avoided recession wasn’t it too? Obviously that’s a less important story related to the Chancellor though
  7. That and largely ignoring any artists who weren’t white
  8. And I’ve just updated mine and had to do exactly what you describe
  9. It’s even less of a story than the pre-election Rayner one. Also sone sad cunt ā€˜whistleblowing’ about Reeves not being an economist at HBOS. And him being about 3 grades higher and saying she was basically on the phone handling complaints. She had a managerial role. So you’ve got the BBC basing part of their article on the word of a bloke who said something that wasn’t factually correct (which the same article points out). What a fucking load of absolute shite. Gemmill was 100% spot on about most journalism now being about pouring petrol on the fire and making any story as big as possible. Irrespective of the facts or it’s actual importance
  10. Labour should stop playing by the rules and have a proper fucking cull in the BBC News department. If they don’t pull their fingers out their arses they’ll have lost the next election before they know it
  11. It was fucking brilliant musically and from social pov for me. I just thought a lot of stuff championed by the NME etc was very bland. Which was more my point. Even back then I felt that way. It was like there was a completely separate parallel world which they chose to ignore. Just their own little bubble. Odd when you consider what was happening in hip hop, electronic music and so on but even to the exclusion of better guitar bands a lot of the time
  12. I suppose most of it was shite so most of the acts had that in common
  13. Yeah. I think so. Basically lazy, London-centric journalism. Did Pulp really have anything in common with Oasis? For example.
  14. Nice one, Rents. Welcome back to the public sector. Has anyone told you yet that you’re Ian Cusack’s line manager?
  15. Exactly what he’d say tbh.
  16. It’s been a while but we got us a live one here
  17. Yeah, agree wholeheartedly with SpongeBob on the quality of that piece. It actually encapsulates a lot of how I even felt at the time. And I feel qualified to comment as I was actually young and very into music and various scenes back then. Not exclusively related to MDMA consumption. He nails it with ā€˜Britpop’ in general, with so many of the bands not floating my boat at all. I think I mentioned on here previously about me and a group of mates pudding ourselves laughing at a contemporary news report about the battle for the number one spot between Blur and Oasis. As we were a group of young lads for whom it meant absolutely nothing. The mentioned death of Diana provoked something similar. Not laughter but just a bemusement at how everybody was forced to care so much. Why? I honestly barely gave a fuck and most people my age I knew weren’t arsed beyond a morbid fascination. As to the main topic of Blur - they were alright. I quite liked Damon. But they only did a handful or so of good songs. The albums were generally shite, man. And I gave them a go on the basis of the songs I did like. Them and the rest of Brit pop isn’t my idea of what was good about the 90s. With a few exceptions
  18. Don’t mind Grealish at all but apart from the injury problems of the last two seasons or so, I don’t think the way he’s been utilised at Man City has improved him as a player. He hasn’t represented good value either and it’s a bit of an odd one, as you’d think they could’ve gotten someone from the continent for half that price who could’ve done the same job. Which is the route they normally go down
  19. Because it was the easy option for the ref ( and another example of him being absolutely fucking hopeless). Agreed, though. His booking was ridiculous anyway but even more so in the context of what else went on.
  20. I haven’t been in for ages but it used to be the only beer they sold in there. Rest was wine or cocktails
  21. Reminds me, I went to a lowkey leaving do once. There were only about 5 of us and we ended up spending the night in The Vineyard. The lass who was leaving had had about 5 bottles of Duvel. She stood up to go to the loos and uttered the immortal words ā€œEee! What’s happened to me legs?ā€
  22. I think the pub is ancient but it was originally accommodation for travelling pilgrims or something. Always gets rave reviews about the food iirc
