Does anyone think the Greens / Lib Dems or any coalition involving them would get a chance to govern? Yeah, maybe. I think keeping him would have been detrimental for a load of reasons though. There’s no scenario in which there is a perfect solution after the player basically refuses to play for us again but I think selling him now is probably the best one from an NUFC point of view. Which is the most important thing really. It doesn’t feel remotely satisfying though

He’s made himself publicly available all summer but only one club has bid for him. I’m not sure where this glut of clubs would have come from. Even Chelsea didn’t have a sniff around despite supposedly wanting a striker, being in the CL, winning £100m at the club World Cup and being seemingly immune to PSR constraints.

The vacuum in the boardroom has meant we didn’t get Wissa in right at the start of the window. For reasons I’ve previously mentioned I think this was entirely possible. Likewise it has allowed the Isak saga to drag on and massively hamper our start to the season. If we’d been able to have a frank discussion with the player and his agent by people who could actually make the decisions then I think he could have been allowed to go for circa £130m and by waiving any loyalty bonus. That’s what has happened anyway but it’s overshadowed the whole pre-season and the first 3 competitive games. That’s where we’ve been unprofessional in all this imo. I’m not excusing Isak in any way and wish him, his agent and LFC nothing but ill. But I also think the aforementioned vacuum allowed for those parties to exploit things to their own benefit. That is where the club needs to learn. The boardroom situation has been untenable for at least a year and needs to be sorted ASAP.

Actually there’s too much PSR consideration at stake. The figures are relatively insignificant for those involved. I think that’s what you meant and I’m not being pedantic for the sake of it. But the distinction is worth pointing out I think. &
