Aye. I think Howe’s really happy with the solidity of the team that’s been starting the vast majority of the matches. Then he does have some attacking options on the bench if needed, especially Isak and ASM. We’ve basically gotten where we are by being so hard to beat, then nicking the odd goal. I can see why sticking with that makes most sense to him.

I wouldn’t be averse to playing Isak and Wilson with the former nominally wide left. Joelinton drops to midfield then. Harsh on Willock but Wilson and Isak might take the pressure off each other. I actually think Isak was bought to play (at least some of the time initially) to play on the right. But he got injured and Almiron had a purple patch. We still don’t have a lot on the bench to change a game though so that probably is part of the thinking re: holding Isak back a bit too

I thought it was class but I preferred The Wire and The Sopranos because of their realism, which was kind of what took them to a different level imo. Obviously it’s fiction but BB has pretensions of realism too. I guess Tony Soprano is always an sociopath but Walter White’s transformation isn’t believable. It’s a bit like criticising Cruyff for not being as good as Pele though

The Fellowship of the Ring starts off quite lighthearted but by the end of The Return of the King the prose is so dense. It’s like reading the Old Testament or something. The films as well. I think I fell asleep on about 3 separate occasions trying to watch the end of the last one.

I was just about to post the same. Anyone with a smidgen of knowledge about the bloke would know he’s spent his life lying about practically everything

I don’t really listen podcasts very often but there was a one about a year back which featured that Emile Franchi (is that his name?) I think. Anyway it discussed how ASM is the sort of player you’d expect to be the perfect super sub. But the analysis showed he only ever made an impact when he started games.
