  1. Wyki’s comment earlier in the tournament about less play acting in the women’s game clearly not applicable to Ze Germans
  2. I remember watching final score and thinking Ray Stubbs was a rhinoceros.
  3. There was always a few SAFC fans from Durham mining families moving to Northumberland then their sons/grandsons still being Sunderland fans I think. But it’s more small pockets in places like Ashington. Whereas places you have places like Chester-Le-Street, South Shields and so on that are at least 50% Newcastle and have been historically. Not trying to say that makes our support amazing. I just mean the mackems seem unable to get their heads round large towns in what is (or was historically) Co Durham having a very large NUFC fan base that goes back generations. That notion they have that they own Durham because Sunderland used to be in Durham is fucking weird and factually doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny. They’ll claim in years to come they’re all bandwagon jumpers though
  4. There’s always been loads of Newcastle fans all over Co. Durham. Also what Newcastle fans have, almost irrespective of where they’re from, is an affinity with the city and not just the club. It’s a big difference between us and them which they don’t seem to get at all.
  5. I don’t know but, if he has, that would explain his not starting
  6. Aye. He’s not our best player though
  7. Both versions are grammatically correct (which I don’t think was being disputed), but only one spelling applies to the place Newcastle play football, which is only being disputed by Dougle, I think
  8. Not going to European away ties is mackem behaviour
  9. That living in and around Bilbao. You either live there or you don’t someone needs to tell them your granny’s mate having a villa in Torrevieja doesn’t count
  10. Also, it’s getting on for 30 years ago.
  11. Jealous - check Stupid - check Obsessed - check Illogical - check
  12. Objectively, you’re
  13. Which makes sense given the bond between the us and Bilbao goes back to the Uefa cup tie in the mid-90s. Whereas the bond between the mackems and Bilbao was completely fictitious
  14. Tbf we require less mental gymnastics than the average gammon when it comes to the Saudis. And Leazes is probably in a straight jacket at this point
  15. Missed off South Shields being north of Newcastle city centre There’s a few weird anomalies like that around the US / Canada borders iirc. Also, part of Norway is further east than Istanbul
  16. That’s what I though about the good folk of ulster Tbf. It’s also why I felt at home

George Clinton is one of those people I’d just assumed was brown bread
  18. Pretty much where I am. The whole carry on with the HMRC building in Newcastle shows how closely connected to the Tories and the corrupt siphoning off of public money into offshore accounts the Reubens are. It fucking stinks. But is theirs and the Saudi’s money unwelcome to the area? Not so much imo, simply because the area needs it so we’ll have instead of it going elsewhere. thanks. And I’m still enjoying the football. Also the hypocrisy around our owners is purely borne out of us having more money than anyone else. Look at the easy ride Chelsea and City had (and still get, even Chelsea).
  19. When you consider the start we had Leicester only finished 3 points ahead of us with one more win. And they haven’t signed anyone. They’ve had an unbelievable few years but I don’t think it unrealistic to say where going to overtake them soon and quite probably forever
  20. He would strengthen both areas of the pitch anyway. It’s not like they’re vastly different positions either. As an aside, I wonder how much Anderson is influencing the thinking at the club around the need for midfielders. You would think having 5 subs should see him get plenty opportunities
  21. Read it on Twitter more like.
  22. thought to be keen is vague in itself but I like how they’ve put that in quotes to add an extra layer of detachment from substance
