Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Alex replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Looking back I think it’s an epidemic that’s just gotten worse and worse. I think you probably need to go back decades for it have been a rich man’s drug. But I do think it’s more widespread (and presumably cheaper?) than ever. Incidentally us and another couple were in the lakes the weekend just gone. We got a taxi back to the place after having a meal and a couple of drinks in Windermere Town. All four of us were of the opinion our driver was coked up. He must’ve been about 45 years old, at a guess. Certainly not a young lad. I know that in itself doesn’t prove anything but it does hint at how commonplace it’s become. -

I don’t disagree at all really. Just that’s what I think is probably the legal perspective/justification for making the distinction. I would also guess they’ve introduced sniffer dogs where there’s a perceived issue highlighted by clubs. I would also think it’s absolutely fucking rife so the numbers getting caught are relatively minute -
See quite a of young kids round ours on de-limited E-bikes riding like fucking maniacs. Some are clearly being used to deliver drugs. There doesn’t seem to be much clamping down, which is probably due to resources as much as anything. When you see them overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road doing about 40 with no helmet though. Fucking hell, man.

The venue is relevant. That’s why you can issue the banning orders. Not saying it’s right or wrong but the law doesn’t view it in the same way as trying to take it into a nightclub where you have to be 18 to legally be there. Also due to the perceived link between taking drugs and football hooliganism, again in the ‘eyes of the law’. Different context, different punishments. I do agree it’s relatively harsh if the people haven’t done anything else. I’m also with you on coke -
Best wishes to your dad, mate

To be fair to him, he was/is a fairly moderate social democrat who was eviscerated for the way he ate a bacon sandwich and was portrayed by most of the media as being just to the left of Leon Trotsky. Being yourself is probably difficult against that backdrop and he inherited the leadership at bad time too

Yeah. The original is right up there in my favourite all-time films, so I watched 2049 expecting to be disappointed. But I thought it was great. There’s a miniseries being developed for Prime too. I hope it’s just one series if it happens though

First gig I ever went to was Musical Youth. At what’s now Eldon Leisure (Eldon ‘Rec’ as was?). Metro Radio roadshow on first and I got Paddy McDee’s autograph Actually Pass The Dutchie (which I know is a sort of cover) sounds pretty fucking good after all these years. And nowt like the sort of cheesy reggae I’d kind of categorised as in my mind.

If they ask for your top 5 reasons Taylor is your favourite ever player for the Toon United Soccer Team: 1) The celebration when he scored that crucial last minute goal against Cardiff 2) Getting up and walking off unassisted after a sniper shot him v Aston Villa 3) Copying Kevin Nolan copying the movements of the opposition goalkeeper 4) Any number of goal line clearances when he was behind the goalkeeper instead of marking his man 5) Showing he never forgot where he came from by still getting a £5 haircut throughout his career

@spongebob toonpants and @PaddockLad I’m not sure if they cover this episode on Chart Music (only about 30 episodes in) but the TOTP from 23/09/1982, currently available on iPlayer, is a good one.

I couldn’t cope if they sold us and bought Liverpool. I’ve only just gotten over the time they ditched us to buy Inter Milan
