  1. Pitch is a bit of a pisstake mind. Recycled from the previous match which is pretty unprecedented. Then heavily watered and then dried out with industrial dryers. I know-same for both teams. I think they’ll be about 100 runs short. As you could see wickets falling in a heap
  2. Even if you thought that you wouldn’t say it ffs
  3. Not quite sure what the solution is but a lot of football seems to be ripe for unscrupulous types to exploit. Especially lower down the pyramid and grassroots football. Whether that money laundering, fraudulent appropriation of FA grants, syphoning off of monthly subs etc. Are Spartans in serious bother here?
  4. Well IF the rumours have any truth the club were open to doing that but Liverpool didn’t bite. Apart from the 20/20 hindsight a lot of these self appointed pundits seem to think these things can just be made to happen
  5. Wordy Rappinghood by Tom Tom Club is brilliant too. S”Express were canny but it was basically just cool disco samples. Black Box were the cheesy end of Italo House. And of course their biggest hit completely ripped off Love Sensation by Loletta Holloway. For a bit better representation of the Italian scene try Don Carlos. Not to be confused with the reggae artist of the same name. KLF we’re class, obviously. Don Carlos a DJ: https://on.soundcloud.com/NWDCVERZWj7erf9X7 as a producer:
  6. Sorry, should have realised. Their having the same surname completely threw me when they first started talking about it on the podcast so I thought you may have been similarly confused
  7. There were three compilations done by mixmaster morris by that name. That’s the track list from volume 1. Or similar. Might be an amalgam of all 3. Some mixes of the tracks featured will have been proper obscure/ done for the compilations. That was kind of eclectic dance, 2 was ambient/ambient techno, 3 was more hardcore techno / trance. They were in aid of CND. Vol 2 is excellent. Iirc vol 1 wasn’t mixed but the other two were.
  8. Choon! It wasn’t a spoof. You may remember I made reference to this a while back (well worth a watch btw): This was one of a series of video diaries from the early 90s. Where people were given a camera and then made their own film before BBC looked at it and edited into a programme proper, if it was deemed worth making into one. Off the back of that on (iirc) Def 2, there was a spin off series of teenage video diaries. Same premise made by da yoof for da yoof. The Chris Needham* one was shown and by popular demand was repeated once. But I don’t think it’s been on telly since and survives via vhs uploads to YouTube. *It’s not Al Needham. By coincidence they share the same surname and are both from the East Midlands. They know each other now but only through Al Needham championing ’In Bed With Chris Needham’. I think they’ve done some Q&A events together, as it’s got a cult following. The bit in the podcast intro “What do you like listening to?…giggles…Chart music….” Is from the video diary.
  9. @spongebob toonpants @PaddockLad There’s a lass I keep in touch with who I went to university with at Loughborough in the mid/early 90s. She’s from Hinckley but lives in Brighton now. After university she managed the independent record shop there called the Left-Legged Pineapple. It’s online only these days. Why the fuck am I telling you this? Well I got on to the subject of (In Bed With… / “Chart Music”) Chris Needham. And she was on about how he used to get in the shop all the time
  10. They don’t care about it but we’re obsessed about the result. And they’ve got a 51 page thread to prove it
  11. A bit of conjecture of course by me. But I think Labour are a bit out of their depth, due to inexperience and the multiple issues faced and economic constraints stopping them applying many quick fixes. But I think the Lib Dems would be even more hampered on that score. I do think Labour are coming in for some unfair criticism. But they certainly don’t help themselves in terms of putting out there the reasons for doing stuff. It is going to take time to tackle things because of the complete lack of joined up thinking and strategy from the previous government. I do have sone insight into the complexity of it all at work. It’s fucking incredible how one change can trigger a lot of unwanted consequences. I’m not trying to be patronising btw, I share a lot of your concerns. And Labour are in bother if they can’t take like you people along with them on the journey. It’s no good just appeasing middle England. Various demographics are ripe for being swept up by Reform, the Greens, Lib Dems, independents. Even if the Tories continue to destroy themselves
  12. Them and the people who lap that dreck up are the huge silver lining when England fails to win a major tournament. I also think there’d be a completely different spin being put on his track record if he was joining Man Utd instead. There’s loads of precedent for foreign managers doing international jobs too of course. Although English exceptionalism and thinly veiled xenophobia is that paper’s default
  13. Tbf a lot of so called Christians just seem to think saying they are one will suffice
  14. Yeah, all fair points. Allardyce was Ashworth’s man too. Hopefully he continues to get his way and Southgate is next up at Man Utd
  15. System only works if the successor wants the job. I don’t know if Carsley was definitely sounded out but the reaction to the Greece game might’ve made his mind up. Ruched seems very tactically astute anyway, which is probably the most important thing at international level
  16. Strawb moving to wipe that smug look off MF’s face
  17. It’s probably ridiculous he got that role (on that sort of salary I mean). But, aye. You can’t see that making much difference in the scheme of things or proving to be popular with those that idolise him (which every Man Utd fan should)
  18. The best ways to tackle obesity are 1) provide proper lessons in how to cook in schools, with enough time and resources. 2) spend a lot more money of sports facilities* and on outdoor recreational resources to make them more widely accessible to different social groups. I’ve thought that was canny obvious for decades. *especially in schools but for the wider community
