  1. and yet we played some of our best football last seaosn with him in the side. how do you explain that?
  2. he's gash though isn't he? in the league at least. how many good games has he had? one maybe?
  3. obertan looks ok in europe. generally he's been dreadful in the premier league. it's not like he hasn't had a few chances either. jonas has limitations; final ball being the main one. but he does a good job for the team. ideally we'd have an out and out winger with a better delivery to play wide left but we don't. he looked canny playing more centrally in a 4-3-3 last season. he's got the engine to play that role, but we seem to have persisted more with 4-4-2 this season.
  4. yeah; i'm surprised by that. always thought he looked a good player and fancied us signing him. perhaps he's being dragged down to the level of most of their squad.
  5. cheap as chips. that's less than the hourly rate in some places down here.
  6. i like my presidents like i like my coffee .... black
  7. sheffield is mint. i went to uni there and had a bunch of mates that were at leeds, which is only a 45 minute drive up the road, so got to know both cities pretty well. both were cool towns to be students in. had some class quality music nights; bit more of a rave culture than newcastle too at that time. though i was back in leeds for a night out after the cricket at headingly in the summer; you forget how the birds get done up in northern towns after you've been away for a while. wall to wall blart tbh. though a tad too much orange skin for my liking. impossible to get into some bars too in groups of lads or if you're wearing trainers. we had to get some random lasses to go in with us. haven't seen the likes in years.
  8. yeah, right. must be a big fight each night about who is the bitch.
  9. and people take the piss out of my accent! you're even less geordie than me meenzer! i always pictured you looking like the bloke on your avatar for some reason. you look way more normal in reality. superb effort though!
  10. That sounds like one mate in particular. Maybe a more mild form of BPD but this kid is either life and soul of the party or miserable, quiet and withdrawn. He goes through spells when he's out all the time then he hides away in his flat on his own for a month of two before surfacing again. He's a fucking odd ball too. Loveable but definitely strange. Mild OCD, Tourette's, he cant sit still for 5 minutes. He's either in your face or asleep , no middle ground. Zero concentration span too. He used to cain the pills back in the day. I don't think that helped. Definitely not a normal character.
  11. hence why we've been stuttering. it's the spine of the team; the solidity
  12. Ive got a few mates that I'm sure are manic depressive. Proper highs and lows
  13. I'm sure the number of gurners consumed in the last two and a bit decades has something to do with the rising number of depressed or moody
  14. yosemite is an amazing place like. did you do the tioga pass drive through death valley to vegas? unbelievable drive; as is the pch from LA to san fran. i love the place.
  15. leeds and sheffield are fine towns
  16. ben arfa's been our saving grace if you ask me. the one player that always looks likely to create something. we ought to be giving him less defensive responsibility and letting him cocnentrate more on creating chances. either play him just behind one of the dembas or let him play wide in a 4-3-3. he's wasted out wide in a 442 with all the tracking back required. let him play in an area where it isn't a disaster if he gives the ball away while setting off on a mazy run
  17. a classic. up there with back to the future and ferris bueller. i still enjoy most of the john hughes films from the mid to late 80s
  18. yeah, it's seen as a hugely liberal bill, which it isn't really - it's not like they've introduced an NHS, but still; it's a very progressive move for a US president and quite risky for obama to push it through in his first term given size of opposition to it - the tea party had a field day, accusing obama of launching a government takeover of healthcare, when in reality the act is anything but. still, a massive deal for a country that traditionally prefers a small state. obama might have been smarter to have saved it for his second term. but i say the reason he's a far better bet for the states than romney is a republican would never consider introducing anything like that. they're small-government tastic.
  19. i've got ET on my sky plus. i've been putting off re-watching it for the same reason. some films are maybe best left in your childhood. back to the future is one of those rare ones that's still as class today as it was in the 80s.
