aye; there's a bit of that. big nights out at the drop of a hat aren't easy when you've a bairn to look after. there's always a negotiation with the other half. but part of it is not wanting to do that kind of thing as much either, because of permanent exhaustion. not having the energy or motivation to go out for a big session, despite having the money to do it in a much better way than a decade ago. for example all my mates are going out for a big session tomorrow night but i've got two deadlines looming on friday and am serioulsy considering not going, despite the fact boys' nights out are a much missed rarity these days, for concerns i won't be in a fit state to finish my two pieces for friday. i've got the security now i didn't have then; got no financial constraints, own my own house, established career etc etc. being able to buy nice stuff whenever i want to cushions the blow. but the responsibilty and hard work it takes to get to the financial rewards makes me wonder sometimes if it was worth all the effort.

how closely are the two linked in your opinion? does having money lead to happiness more often than not? how hard is it to be happy when you're worried about putting food on the table? i'm glad i have no financial concerns now but quietly long for the days when i was a skint student or starting my career with little money and even fewer worries or responsibilities.

In a nutshell
-
he's a class player. the fact that he picks up a lot of bookings is because he plays on the edge. but that's what allows him to boss midfields and give us a platform to play. he dominates midfield in a a way out other players can't. we would be MUCH weaker without him. i can't remember a better holding midfielder for us in my lifetime. anyone else want to a better player in his positiion that we've had before they start saying we should let him go because he gets a lot of yellow cards?
-
He is that good. We're nowhere near the same side without him.

bad for the heart?

i've two bedrooms and an en suite in what was once my loft

I was only doing about 5-6 reps in the final 45 second set. It's a fucking sick way to train. The main problem I have is breathing. It's so explosive; I was almost seeing stars during one rest.

Back to Cath's OP, got to agree. The price of a pair of kid's shoes that last for two or three months - fucking scandalous. Doesn't help by the mrs insisting we get him campers. 40 sheets for a 19 month old's shoes man.

Right oh

I love it. I become obsessed with series now in a way I didn't when you had to wait for the weekly instalment

Anyone see a close resemblance between Gus out of Breaking Bad and our former gaffer Chris Hughton?

Bigi to be better than tiote? Bold statement. Hopefully proves to be true
-
usually i would agree that ball players are harder to replace than ball winners but we're so much easier to beat when tiote isn't playing. i can't remember a better defensive midfielder for us tbh, i rate him that highly. he's a modern holding player because he can play a bit too - he isn't a defensive player in the david batty mould of win the ball and play an easy ball to someone else. i reckon tiote and colo are the two best players we've had in their positions in my lifetime. losing either of those two would be a massive loss.

anyone tried crossfit training. lord have mercy
-
just did kettle bell class with 24kg bell circuit included swing 60 seconds clean and jerk alternate right/left - 90 seconds figure of 8 (round the world) - 45 seconds kettlebell press up - 45 seconds burpee with kettlebell jump - 45 seconds one minute rest then repeat the circuit. 5 sets. ouch

RIP Terry

it's been horrible viewing for most of this season. i don't remember us really ever bossing one game for a substantial period. we've laboured in most of our draws and victories. last season we got a lot of good results in games we didn't dominate too but i don't thik the standard of play was as poor generally as it has been this season.
-
i was just thinking yesterday chelsea would be pretty fricken awesome with him holding their midfield alongside ramieres instead of mikel.
-
i agree usually, far too many stupid bookings and sendings off these days when players are actually trying to win the ball - see tiote last week. but the rules says it's a red card if you deny a goal scoring opportunity. ivanovic may not have meant to clip his legs, but there's no doubt he did catch him. if you apply the letter of the law, the ref got it right with that one.

Souness is fucking dour though. He always looks angry

Full back is definitely our weakest area. We're reasonably strong at centre mid.
