Do you think we'll get that striker in Jan?
Dr Gloom replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
don't fancy this quote either. we're still woefully short at full back and centre half, as well as midfield. “Some of our players are beginning to find their feet in this division and are beginning to blossom and I think there’s real competition in all areas." on the plus side, the midfield is looking good, with some interesting options, especially in wide areas. with ben arfa coming bacl too -

i'm all for him pards talking up the players to build their confidence and keep the team spirit going. but this latest quote troubles me. even if the current lot do well between now and christmas, we could still do with another quality forward brought in. "We've got real quality in a strong side and we're going to win more than we lose. My forwards are rising to the challenge of proving that I don't need to sign another striker and this team's starting to excite me." -
piss poor. where's the next SD logo going? he's running out of room

Obama once again showing America is Israel's lapdog.
Dr Gloom replied to Park Life's topic in General Chat
Yep. One side reeks of desperation somewhat more than the other though, no. it's a desperate situation for those on both sides that want peace, the majority as it happens. it's the fundamentalists on both sides that are the problem. -

The settlers are morons, no doubt. I find Palestinian people who blow themselves up in public places aiming only to kill israeli civilians equally troubling. Like clee says, there are two sides to this story. -

Mark likes Israel, I'm Palestine. Makes it much more interesting if you pick sides. Why don't they ever show the good things that happen in the day? Oh yeah, I guess the news should just be a constant list of everything that takes place everywhere, except that'd take FOREVER! People are quick to criticise America's pro- Israel propaganda and the Jewish lobby, and often with some justification. But the same critics rarely admit that the coverage in the UK, particularly on the beeb, is pro Palestinian and skewed strongly against Israel. Strange that. -

Plenty of law abiding Palestinians live happily in Israel in peace, alongside the Jews and are probably far happier living in a democracy than they would be if they lived in Syria, Iran or one of the other Arab states, where basic human rights are at a minimum. -
Exactly the sort of game we should win but usually struggle in. I'm hopeful though after our start and now ben arfa is back. I'd like to see him start just behind best and marveaux in for obertan.

Bodypump on Wednesday + spin class today = jelly limbs.

they're a lot more entertaining than last season but they're not exactly gung ho like keegan's newcastle side of the 90s were. i don't think a team has really played in that "if they score 3, we'll score 4" approach keegan employed since.

You could only play one striker with them three on. no point playing 442 anyway is there with our strikers. ben arfa will probably play like a roving second striker anyways won't he?

Been to see the nicks. It was almost like the sport was a distraction from all the other shit going on, from cheerleaders, to people trying to sell you shit and competitions like punters throwing baskets for prizes. I liked how you could get shit faced though without having to leave your seat. No waiting at the bar. The beer vendors come to you!

if we do sign a striker, it'll be some little known johnny foreigner -
one of the best things i did last time i was there was hang out in the meat packing district. loads of cool bars, restaurants, pop art galleries etc. go for a walk up the high line too - http://www.thehighline.org/ for shopping, try soho then go for a booze crawl or out for dinner in the village. all the things listed in this thread are worth doing as well, there are a list of must see tourist attractions, but there is a less touristy, less obvious side to the big apple. it's a cool as fuck city to hang out in. i'd go for 5-7 days so you get to see the whole thing.
