Whilst I agree he's a bit of a tosser I think it's exaggerated how shit he is. Don't get me wrong, he's shit, but both Taylors were part of our long unbeaten start the the season we finished 5th. He hasn't really had much luck since then. There's worse back-ups at bigger clubs. Our problem is we don't have an obvious first team pairing for him to be back up to.

You show him that we're looking to compete with Arsenal, with intent in the transfer market. This is only a ridiculous idea to those that have succumbed to the lower expectations campaign. Debuchy is hardly a Suarez or Bale either, who are clearly exceptional cases. Losing players to Real Madrid and Barca I can accept. I did when Woodgate went. We're not even in the tier below them now. We're in the tier below the one below them, losing our players to clubs that we should be trying to compete with.

We should have been persuading him to stay by showing him that we can match his ambitions. I can accept that we're a mid-tabled unambitious stepping-stone club now, but praising it, nah.

How can you use Debuchy £12m Janmaat £5m as an example that should be encouraged without having any idea whatsoever how good the latter will turn out to be. Selling top players and replacing with unknown quantities definitely shouldn't be encouraged.
