It's been absolutely pissing down with rain in Gateshead and it's still ridiculously claggy. Bloody roasting in here..

Why can't I start topics, reply to PM's or reply to quoted posts on my iPad? It's really fucking me off. The keyboard just will not appear.

It's a beeyootiful day. Have got the house to myself all day and then back on nights tonight. Goodbye dayshifts, I'm glad to see the back of you!

You could be a grandda at 33! Providing you're going to let her out of the house, that is

Yeah, I think she was pregnant before we finished 5th year and her daughter is 20 years old. I see it at work quite often where some women are with their daughters during their labour/caesarian. The mam-to-be is 15/16 and the 'grandma' is 31/32. I just really struggle to imagine what it's like, but then I've left it pretty late to have kids.

Someone in your class from school is now a nana

Nah, he's been a lightweight for years

Someone's on form today with the wisecracks

Aye, I've had to sign something to say that nursery can put suncream on the bairn.

I was being ironic man. I'm the first one to roll my eyes when I hear how it's been a 'long half-term' Shurrup man! I do 12-hour shifts man. I'm the only one who plays for sympathy round here

God bless SMO for a bit of perspective

Plus, if he sees my iPad or phone he wants to play "Birdies" (Angry Birds) or flick through my photos, or watch the Toy Story 3 app. He's 2 1/2

I tend to not be able to get on FB until he's gone to bed cos I'm too busy trying to stop him using the new HD posh telly as a racetrack or throwing himself off the top of the settee onto the cat because it makes a funny noise... Genuinely tho, it's the best thing in the world, but you don't ever know it until you have them.

Honestly, someone needs to speak to that woman Tonight is the first night in months that I've bathed the bairn because Himself worked late. He normally does bath and bedtime because he hasn't seen the bairn all day.

Just spoken to the other half who has just got in from work (who says teachers are all home by 4pm?!) and his general feeling is that it's unacceptable. Well, he actually said "You don't have to be a fucking intellectual to know when a kid genuinely needs the toilet - especially a 5 year-old" Although he teaches secondary school scummers who always try to 'go to the toilet' so they can do drugs etc...* * may be factually inaccurate Basically the 'not allowed to touch a child to clean them up' is true, there are ways around it, such as if 2 teachers are present then one can't be accused of inappropriate behaviour etc. Anyway, in his view it shouldn't have happened and you are due an explanation and further reassurances.
-
PS - It being a catholic school isn't an issue here - it's nothing to do with religion! If a teacher can't help a 5 year-old child to be clean and hygienic and minimise their embarrassment when something like this happens then they shouldn't be in loco parentis of young children.
-
I'm horrified tbh Fair enough, as you said, kids sometimes mess about when other kids are asking for the toilet - it becomes a bit of a game, but for him to not be cleaned properly is negligent in itself. They'll probably throw in "well we're not allowed to touch children to clean them" but I wouldn't accept that for a second. In that case the school nurse could have done it or they should have called you. To send his dirty pants home in his bag without even rinsing them (yes it's a horrible job but tough!) is also disgusting. There's a massive hygiene issue there in itself. I'd be straight to the head too, and there can be no justification. You need a fucking HUGE apology and massive reassurances that this will never, ever happen again. Not just to your poor bairn but anyone else's. Ask them what their policy is on their pupils privacy and dignity because both of these things have gone out of the window.

My friend has got 2 year-old triplets and have no childcare. They both work full- time (she's a nurse, he's a fireman) and they just constantly work opposite shifts. I can't even begin to imagine the madness!

2 mornings in a row when he's slept til 7.45am from 8 pm the night before. Both days I've been awake wondering if he's still breathing You don't ever rest SLP. Be prepared!

Bad craic that HMHM. I can relate to it massively - particularly the bit about the kids holding those candles. I've been apart from my ex for almost 5 years now, divorced for almost 2 and in a little over 2 weeks i'll finally stop living with my kids. Not looking forward to it at all. Chin up fella and concentrate on the good stuff. Make sure the time you have with the kids is rich with fun and enjoyment and they'll come round to the idea that it's all for the best. Hope you feel better about it soon. Cheers, mate. If it wasn't for the kids I could cope no bother. They constantly drop hints about mammy and daddy getting married again and stuff like that. I wish it could work just for their sakes but it can't and I feel really, really guilty for that Sorry to hear about that - it sounds absolutely shit, but you deserve to be happy and the bairns will be too in the long run. They will have 2 parents who adore them and that's more important for their well-being than anything - you don't have to live in the same house.
