Thank you to everyone. I'm still very angry but my brother is being far more grown up about it than I am able to be at the moment. He's angry and feels incredibly let down but he knows the truth and so do we. The bairn has never been in a pick of bother in his life. He'd only been in the pub an hour after he finished work so most definitely was not drunk and doesn't have a threatening bone in his body. There won't be any 'taking matters into our own hands' - bro is sick and tired of it and wants to put it behind him. He just deserved better, for some kind of justice to be done and he was failed. What makes this unforgivable for me is the damage it has done to my dad who is taking it really very badly and has been quite upset by the whole business. There is a bit of consolation in the fact that there are a very large number of coppers in the area who are aware of this bloke and this case as one of my uncles and a very close friend of the family are very highly ranked and respected in the local force. If this guy so much as breathes the wrong way in future then he will most definitely know about it. The bloke would never have got a custodial sentence - we know that, but he would have got a record and the fact that he is a thug would have been acknowledged and the injustice of that night recognised. Anyway, I'm waffling. Thank you again for your kind words and support. I KNOW he was guilty and that will have to be good enough for me for the time being. God forbid if he ever needs hospital treatment because if he does he may find himself face to face with a nurse who finds it very difficult to be professional at that moment in time.

Best justice system in the world eh? Yep, that's right - he was found not guilty. He lied through his arsehole, said my brother was blind drunk and threatening him so hit him in self-defence. Said that my brother does this all the time (Errrrr, evidence?) Made him out to be a drunken, lairy knobhead who he had no choice but to hit him first before he was started on. So there's some advice for you folks. If anyone randomly walks up to you and smacks you so hard that your glasses break into your eyes and leaves you scarred for life then don't bother trying to do the right thing. Don't bother trying to ensure that your society is a better place without a violent, lying thug in it cos it won't work. Just mop up the blood, go home and say nothing. Because that's what he might as well have done.

That's what I'm worried about - that there'll be some stupid loophole and he'll get away with it. And no, I'm not going. I want to but he doesn't want us there in case of further repercussions etc...

Thank you. Unfortunately being up all night gives you too much time to think about things and I've managed to get myself really bothered by this. I know that I'm far too close to all of this to look at it at all obectively or without bias but how dare he submit a not guilty plea. He IS guilty. He DID smack my brother in the face with absolutely no provocation whatsoever and yet he has stood up in court already and lied about it. Now the family have to go through more stress while a bunch of strangers decide on whether he actually did this or not, and lawyers will be cross-examining them trying to trip them up every step of the way in order to try and get him off with this. It's fucking shit. And I know this happens every day to many, many people, it's just never happened to us before and I'm very angry about it all.

Okay, time for another update. Yes this saga continues. There's been a few things going on behind the scenes that I've not bothered posting in here about until now. Anyway, The Arsehole has been playing the system the last few months refusing to submit a plea etc until he absolutely had to. When he did it was a Not Guilty plea therefore it goes to trial. That is happening today in Crown Court. Please can I ask everyone to cross their fingers and hope beyond hope that he gets what's coming to him. My brother and dad both have to go and brother has to give evidence. They're both dreading it and are going through a pretty stressful time because of it.

It was a class day for sleeping today. I hate going to bed after a nightshift when it's a gorgeous day but today was perfect. I was out like a light and didn't stir til nearly 5pm. Lush.

Sorry Laz, been away for the weekend so just seen this. No - it's generally done by general surgeons who do lots of other things aswell. They do have specialist endoscopy nurses who's sole job it is to assist/look after the people having cameras shoved up their arses and down their throats all day every day (yes, the scopes are sterilised inbetween )I think I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than do that job. Aye good job because if I walk in there tomorrow and you're stood there'll be hell on I tells ya! 'specially if she's still rat-arsed after her big weekend away. Might struggle to find the right hole I was drinking tequila slammers at 6am on Saturday morning after starting drinking champagne at 2pm the previous day
