Went out last night, and some lad was wearing sunglasses INSIDE the nightclub! That's just inexcusable. I'd have to ask him why. And I'd probably get told told off for doing so but who cares."Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr, 'scuse me. Why do you need sunglasses inside a nightclub? Are you a celebrity or just a complete fucking twat? "

Oh, and I do know more than your persona on here. And in real life you're going bald!

Yeah, but they have to be in such a place in their head that they can ask for or seek that help. That's not always the case. The quote above sounds like an ideal but you can't always save the world. If my job was to save every life that comes into my care then I'd fail miserably. Not because I hadn't done my damndest, but just because some people can't be saved. This is possibly going to sound patronising, and I really don't want it to so I've thought about it for a bit before I started typing this.. People are not all textbook cases. After 10 years of working with every kind of person imaginable on a daily basis, I don't even begin to try and understand them. Just when I think I've got some things sussed out, something else will come along and completely disprove everything I thought I know about human nature and peoples actions. I totally respect your point of view. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I do respect it. I also think that in time, and if you end up in your profession of choice, that time and experience will maybe show you that your views on things are maybe a tad harsh. Your knowledge and ideas will be challenged on a daily basis and it may surprise you to find that it's actually okay to change your views on things based on those challenges. Embrace it - it's quite a humbling experience.

I wouldn't say "Over" sensitive. I've got to admit, a lot of people have a problem with my rather blunt objectivity. I never mean offense, but when someone asks a question... I answer it. luckily when it comes to giving advice to people I've learned to put my opinions in a wee box and lock 'em To be honest, I'm tired and can't be chewed to debate about it any more. It something I'm still coming to terms with and like I said earlier will never understand why he did it. I'm angry with him but at the same time he lived his life on his own terms and has died exactly the same way. I'm just sad because at some point he was sat alone and didn't think there was a single person he could turn to to help him through whatever it was, and that's difficult to deal with as a friend. And I'll miss him. You can be as blunt as you want in your opinion of people who do this but when that person is someone that matters to you then you start to think differently about lots of things. It also teaches you that if we all thought life was going to be so short then would we live it differently? Take more care about things, treat people better, let people know you care, right your wrongs etc. It throws up lots of life's philosophies and makes you completely re-evaluate things. I'm now waffling so will shut up.

Both acts of desperation though. And just to clarify - the drug I referred to wasn't an illegal substance, it was a medical one. "Pushing drugs in a quiet room" sounds like he was injecting heroin or something. Yes I'm being over-sensitive.

Howay man Dave. We rarely agree on stuff, but in this instance I was talking about something I've formed an opinion of through having experienced it. You're entitled to yours. I just think that some day you may be forced to review it. if I do (and I hope I don't) I reckon the last place I'll post a retraction is on here. and Gems right it's Haway You're a bloke - you'll never admit that you're wrong. And I don't give a flying ferret how it's spelt....

She's got a point, like, that's a shocking attitude who wants to be a psychologist(?) You two need to read the post before damning me. The people who do it cause untold pain and suffering to those they leave behind. If I need deal with the mess of someone being so selfish, then of course I'd be tactful, but this is an internet message forum, where none of you are seeking couselling, especially not from me. I cannot have sympathy for the people who attempt suicide because it's not in my nature. If I knew of a person who was contemplating it I'd certainly want to change their mind, search for the cause of their anguish and fix it. But I wouldn't for one minute think "Oh poor You" Suicide is a cowards way out and as such I'm not going to sympathise. If you're angry because you think I don't get the pain that the person leaves, then you didn't read the post. If you are angry because I don't care about the one who has died, then fine, because in committing suicide they've dumped all their misery onto someone else and fucked off. unforgivable to me. (p.s. I didn't see Cats post and would have phrased it better if I had) I refer you back to your sentence where you state you have never been directly affected. Maybe if you had you would think differently because I know I do now. My mate was many things. He was larger-than-life, gregarious, compassionate, caring, arrogant, the life and soul and in every aspect of his life he put others before himself. I don't, and will never accept that he was cowardly. Desperate, despondent and irrational - maybe, but not a coward. He was a nurse and killed himself with a drug knowing exactly what he was doing and what the consequences would be. That takes some fucking guts, and I will never, ever understand why he did it because his family and friends were EVERYTHING to him and had he been rational he never would have done this to the people he loved more than anything in the world.
-
You haven't been directly affected then you haven't got a fucking clue. You might think about a slightly more compassionate, empathetic and understanding approach before you finish your degree and are let loose on the general public.

Friend of mine did it last Tuesday. Don't worry though - he didn't disrupt any of your journey's home from work by jumping off the bridge.
-
Surely to goodness there'd be more left than just bits of clothing? How long was it before they noticed he was missing?! Horrible.
-
Hey, as long as those people who are contemplating suicide do it in their own homes and don't disrupt everyone else's day eh? Yes, it causes disruption, but so does being so completely fucking screwed up in the head that you feel like you've no other option that to kill yourself.

Swing bridge only taking traffic from Gateshead>>Newcastle and not the other way. Everything else being diverted to the Redheugh. It's gridlocked out there, folks!
-
Possibly. All I know is that it's a Police Incident
-
Has been closed for the last hour and a half in both directions - traffic is mental. I know Snow Patrol are on at the Arena tonight so if anyone was planning on heading into town by car over the bridge, you might want to think again.

Was it not just a day when the Google bots went mad viewing threads?

Remember emporer_k? That was like one of his responses!

The old episodes are classics, but the recent Christmas specials have been rubbish.

As far as I was aware, the structure had been checked over by the fire brigade the day before it opened in order to fulfill health and safety requirements and was found to be fine. Weren't there gale force winds that weekend too? I think it's been a horrible freak accident and think it's more than harsh to bring manslaughter charges against the artist.
