I was at the shops this morning at 9am. Presents parcelled up and sent to various locations around the globe (and Manchester) cards written and posted, gift bags bought. more pretty lights bought cos I can't resist them, grandda's birthday card purchased (Christmas Eve) and even managed to get a sparkly jumper. I do, however need 2 more medium sized silver gift bags as I didn't get enough. If you could just pop them into your basket when you're out that would be lovely

To take the stress out of the festive season for all you bah humbuggers To take the backache out of wrapping presents in the middle of the floor, set up the ironing board (that's the thing your missus uses to get your clothes nice and flat) and use it as a table. Voila!

Cheers dudes. Apparently my brother went in after his shift tonight and my uncle just said "Peter.........take me home!" It's his first words in a week.

Spent the afternoon at the hospital (a very strange experience being there as a visitor - kept trying to do stuff before remembering I don't actually work in Intensive care) Anyway, my uncle is off life-support and breathing for himself. It's early days, and if he doesn't cope then he'll have to go back on it, but he recognised my dad today and could nod appropriately in reply to questions which is a huge step. Feeling much more hopeful than a couple of days ago, but aware that things can go backwards very quickly.

Has just delivered a belting show at the City Hall tonight by all accounts. And for the record, I like him (but not like that)

Thanks. He went in for routine shoulder surgery on Monday, his breathing went off in recovery and by Wednesday they had to intubate and ventilate him. It's weird and horrible being on the other side of things.

Well that's me done til Boxing Day And after all these years I've discovered how to get a decent rota over Christmas. You book the week before Christmas as annual leave, volunteer to do the nightshift rota to save the boss a job, then put your little brother on Christmas Eve nightshift

We've absolutely gone to shit once again.

Finish work in the morning and not back til Boxing Day. Unfortunately my uncle is poorly and in intensive care so we'll be spending a lot of time here over Christmas.
