  1. All of them can get to fuck if it means Rafa stays.
  2. Wasn't even alive when that happened, but even just reading that and hearing about and watching parts of that season is painful.
  3. Congratulations to Leicester City, unreal story. I doubt anything like this will ever happen again. Fair play to Claudio for hacking the editor and saving the game before every match. Well, only now for us to complete our great escape after looking dead and buried and win the league next year. HWTL.
  4. If Chelsea beat the mackems, Manchester United beat Norwich and we beat Villa, then I definitely think we'll do it.
  5. Possibly the greatest man to have ever lived.
  6. If we win vs this tragic rabble, Sunderland get beat off Chelsea and lose to Everton in their game in hand, and Norwich lose to Man United and fail to win vs Watford we're guaranteed safety before the final day
  7. One other thing that was so depressing under Pardew was the acceptance. I recall in one earlier thread we were talking about when we lost 0-1 at home to Sheffield United under Roeder back in 2006, remember when that goal went in? Being in St James', especially for me being only 6 at the time, was the most uncomfortable thing in the world, the atmosphere was absolutely vile. I've been told there were many similar occasions under Souness. Yet we'd get walloped at home to Sunderland 0-3 constantly and suffer our worst home defeat in 90 or 80 odd years to Liverpool under Pardew and there was barely a response.
  8. I know that those positions look like the dizzy heights atm, but it wasn't just how we were performing in the PL, it was the brand of football, and all of the bullshit that came out of his mouth in press conferences or in interviews, where he would fank Mike and say things such as "we can't compete with Southampton". We were almost relegated under him, he broke records, one of those being worst home defeat since 1925, and the start of the annual humping from the mackems in our own backyard. We went on this run in that 10th season:
  9. That's cheered me up a bit
  10. This is just my opinion which some may think is horseshit, but here goes nowt. For me, Pardew is responsible for the dissemination of "mediocrity is okay" and the destruction of expectations. He destroyed the spirit of the club, it's hardened many supporters, some of whom were pushed over the edge so much they've either jacked their season tickets and don't go to games anymore, and at most, lost all interest in the club at all. Psychologically what he has done has ruined a generation of supporters, (especially mine, the amount of people I know who claim to be either Manchester United or City fans is ridiculous) and he has created an ethos of "that'll do" throughout the club. Now I'm not saying he is solely responsible for the numerous situations the club and supporters have found themselves in over the 4 years he was here and the 2 since he's left, but he was the chief facilitator and I think he will be, imo, rightly reviled for his part in the ruination of the once proud club I love.
  11. To make it even more depressing, in my lifetime, we've finished in the top half 6 times. (2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04, 2005-06, 2011-12, 2013-14). Three of those seasons I can't remember and one of them was utter shite.
  12. Only in his final season. My first game was a 2005 FA Cup game vs Mansfield Town, won 1-0, Shearer getting the winner with 10 minutes to go.
  13. Hope Mitrovic rips Pardew's head clean off his shoulders. EDIT: It also would be a dead shame if a girder fell from the roof of the Milburn Stand and landed on Pardew's stupid fucking FACE.
  14. I haven't seen to many goals worth going OTT about () But mine would have to have been either Cisse's last minute winner vs Anzhi in the Europa League or, once again, a Cisse last minute winner but against Fulham. Were in the same season iirc.
  15. WHAT IF Sunderland beat Norwich, and we beat Swansea? Would anyone's perspective change?
  16. A mackem win I think tbh. Keeps us all closer together, Norwich don't gain any points so the gap to safety is the same, and will be reduced to 3 points if we beat Swansea.
  17. That loss to Portsmouth man. What was it, 0-3 down in 8 minutes?
  18. But regarding if we win, seeing as how our next games are Manchester City at home and Liverpool away, I doubt we'll see an upturn in results, but I think performances would improve in the next few games if we won. There's something about that Manchester City game that tells me we're going to get something. No idea what it is, whether it's because they play 3 games, including our game, in 7 days, or whether it's because they looked awful against West Brom on Saturday, I don't know. Can't wait to be let down.
