I'm glad you said that and not me, because its what I had in mind but chose not to for obvious reasons..... ...I know where you're coming from. Enough said.

Forbidden You don't have permission to access /i/imogen_thomas_05/pics/imogen_thomas_02.jpg on this server. Actual photo required please. I cannot tolerate wonky boobs so I'm going to have to nip this one in the bud sharpish.

Btw, double checking and he'll be 29 rather than 30 at the start of the season. Basically I think it's perfectly legit for the club to offer 3 years at that age, but in Barton's case (and if it becomes pivotal to negotiations), that has to just be a starting position, whereby you give him his 4 if he's away otherwise. In individual cases, the final years wastage/depreciation has to just be seen as a price worth paying for the other good years you can hopefully expect out of them. I have to say though, given Joey's rhetoric this season, while obviously I don't think he should allow (or will allow) the club to take the piss out of him, I'd still like to think that consistent with what he's been saying he'd be absolutely looking for the middle ground in order to get a deal done.

aye, I've read 2j's post and I agree too, and I agree with Chez that 3 years with an option for another 1 is fair enough if that is what he is asking. Unfortunately, I fully expect the club to tell us lies about the terms if he doesn't sign and ends up leaving. Aye, basically. The only caveat to that being the lies that McKay will publish the other way also. I actually think Barton will give the straight answer whatever the outcome, once the dust has settled, I just hope it's after he's put pen to paper for us. *famous last words*

That's a girl, Kev.

If it was (just) a question of contract length, I'd like to think he'd be philosophical about it and take a straight 3 year contract instead, recognising that 4 year deals for top flight midfielders aged 30 shouldn't be regarded as an industry norm. That's not to say that I've assumed that's all there is to it however. 2J's post pretty much nails it for me.

Is Shola one of the best penalty takers in the world?
manc-mag replied to loonyTOON's topic in Newcastle Forum
Didn't he bring that delayed kick routine back with him from Real Sociedad? I remember him scoring a pen against us at Prenton Park in front of our end and he did just that-it always looked fucking terrible like but for some reason the keeper would commit themselves every time. Aye I think he did bring that back. He was an absolute sensation in the Basque country by the way, they used to have the same policy as Athletic Club, and he was the first non Basque over there, but he couldn't settle. FFS if I was from Bootle, I'd settle in Ulan Bator nee bother never mind Northern Spain. Scousers for ye. His career stats are pretty much second to none whatever level he played at. Well over a goal every other game iirc (and he played for Oxford in the top flight ffs, so in some ways it's arguably better than someone who played 10 years continuously at a top club where you're served up half a dozen clear cut goalscoring opportunities each week). Had no idea he was the first non-Basque like when he transferred to Sociedad! -

Is 'Happy Face' Dadoon's other account?

When you were gone I had a big very public sensationalised row with Danny Simpson regarding that very subject, which made me vilified by 50% of the toon support at large. I shouldn't have called him a nobhead and at least by the end he acknowledged my stance. is that a piss take like?? It sounds like it should be but somehow I can easily believe it in your case.

Anyway it can be summarised in one word, that the BBC simply shouldn't be allowed to use and thats "United".

In what way? They have one of the most humble managers/group of players around. Their players are mostly complete wanks. The arrogance that oozes from them pisses me right off. Cheating bastards too> Messi probably is the most likeable of them and even today he's on about Hernandez and Rooney BEING GOOD ENOUGH for Barcelona or Real. If they're good enough for Man Utd they're good enough for both of them. Man Utd still imo have more global appeal. Also the UNICEF look at us, aren't we saviours of the world pish. They're worse than Liverpool for wanting to be liked. The Fabregas tapping up which was so open it was scandalous further highlight the arrogance that goes from president down to paella seller. How anyone can have a go at them for that, man! Tens of millions of free publicity for that charity. Fair play. If I was Spanish I'm sure I would hate them though, in much the same way I hate Man U. It did as much good for the club as it did for UNICEF, "eeh aren't they canny". So canny aye we'll dee it for 2 years and get a proper sponsor. I hate Barcelona more than Real Madrid. Madrid are more of the attitude look we're total cunts, we know it, so what. Look at this.... Before I go on to my main point about this table. Worth noting toon on live telly more than so called massive Villa and Everton despite the fact we've been midtable plodders, but what has to hurt the most I didn't realise that goal cost us £2.3m. It has though if you work it out. £2.3m is still a lot of money, if we'd have been 9th we've had that extra dough, one shitey goal, chances we had to make it 4-0 too, oh dear. Anyway, what I do like about this is this is that Blackpool get £40m while Man Utd deservedly get £60m. The difference isn't that great, I appreciate they are polls apart in lots of regards but it's a decentish distribution in my view. In Spain, Barca and Real get twice as much as Man Utd and more than half the other teams get about the same amount as League One teams do. That's why there's a chasm developing, and it's a shame because in the last 15 years you've had the likes of Deportivo, Atletico and Valencia (twice) winning it, now the third placed team is 25 points behind. That's direct payments aye, and I agree it's healthier that way than to have a massive gap. Ii came as a bit of a surprise that actually (a nice one) to know the payments weren't quite so massively discrepant as I'd have imagined them to be. What Man U get less directly however is a complete media obsession with them which, if you were to have to pay for it in terms of commercial advertising, would cost literally £100's of millions per year. They got all that when they were shit (relatively) as well btw, before all the Prem titles of the last two decades. It's been that way even when their teams haven't warranted it, hence why they've maintained millions of oots and always had greater spending power.

Some quality tracks this page tbf, Leazes!

"liquid music" to paraphrase Alan Partridge.
-
I've never met Gemmill's fiance, mainly because he's a cagey fucker, but I bet potentially they could clean up as that BT couple.
-
Btw that KLF extended album track you posted on the other page is liquid music tbf.
-
Got that album. Still canny, if patchy. William Orbit is class. I'm sure you've taken the piss out of me for liking dance music on more than one occasion like. I will use any stick to beat you with tbh, even if it makes me a hypocrite.

Does he also double as Ray Winstone without the beard btw?
