Heard them for the first time today - are they supposed to be the new Busted?

That's pretty much the top and bottom of it I'm afraid. 84659 Well which useless twat put that in his contract? 84671 Now, now.. we can't diss Freddy, after all he's the greatest chairman in the world simply on account of sticking his hand in his pocket.... 84692 Got a question for you and the others Craig. Seeing as none of you take up my challenge to name all the dozens of chairman who have shown the ambition to back their managers as much as Shepherd, what would you do if, or when : He goes and we do replace him with a Doug Ellis/Bob Murray [add Bates, Al Fayed, Ridsdale, Gold, Hamman, Haywood, Mandrovic, Lowe, Kenwright, Sugar, Brown, Reynolds type]. Not to mention the names from our own past ie Westwood, Seymour, McKeag ? Far more likely than a Gibson or a Dein .... [although both of these have dropped a bollock as well...] 84706 As an aside I've heard that Steve Gibson is running out of the type of money needed to bankroll Boro singlehandedly. If they go down the crowds will disappear and they will be massively in the shit.

With hindsightTM was buying Owen a mistake?

I couldn't work that one out either -

Foresight, surely? And if I can have Fridays Euromillions numbers I'll buy the club off Freddie. -
Combi? How much you paying like? (I am an expert on such matters). 84677 That would be between 1000-1500 pounds, wouldn't it? 84707 Last years prices my friend. The going rate these days is between £1250 and £1750

Michael Owen in "talking shite" shock 84718 Dean Saunders had him in a headlock and Terry Mac was giving him a chinese burn at the time like. -
Cornwall is one of the loveliest places I've been (here or abroad) actually.

Half a pint of whisky? Classy.

If humans evolved from apes why are there still apes?

I mounted a bronze kangaroo so I have been told. 84633 That passes for culture down under. 84684 I dunno what Redcar's like for culture but there's no way, coming from Newcastle, I'd take the piss out of anywhere else in cultural terms. Except Cornwall. 84688 Fair comment, glass houses and all that but at least our whole country isn't like that. I mounted a bronze kangaroo so I have been told. 84633 That passes for culture down under. 84684 Dr the only culture anyone here is really interested in is the one we find in yeast! We get better wine that way 84694

Shearer testimonial to be against Celtic
Dr Kenneth Noisewater replied to Optimistic Nut's topic in Newcastle Forum
Went to Pedro's - class, didn't go to Rob Lee's - that seemed to fall flat, think it was a combination of the prices, the opposition and the timing. Agree that Shearer should donate the cash to charity (I'd nominate the Great North Air Ambulance). Wonder who he'll get from throughout his career to play in the Newcastle XI? -

Pffffh Corona is the daddy of mass produced non classy bottled beers tbh. Not exactly a glowing reference I know. 84664 I'm more of a Miller Genuine Draft man myself as far as bottles go. The nicest spirits-based drink I've tried is one part Archers peach schnapps, one part vodka topped up with cranberry juice and crushed ice. Unfortunately it's called a Woo-Woo so it is impossible to order one without sounding gay.

Reminds me of something a friend of mine came out with when we played the Swiss in Euro2004: " Come on, lets turn over the nazi-gold-hoarding, cuckoo-clock-making fuckers!!"

You can't fault the club for going for him, but like you I doubt he'll be here in the summer. He'll have cost us over £1million a game this year too. (Obviously not including what we get back on him). -
Just out of curiosity, is this a popular english/european preconception? 84574 I think it is. Is it a misconception? What percentage of home-owners in the States keep guns would you say? 84577 As with almost anyplace you go, it all depends on the area. The concept of americans as guntoting zealots is unfortunate in that there are some like that, but they are far and away the minority. I suppose at this point I should be used to these sort of generalisations and I really can't see how my biting will change any preconcieved opinions. Maybe the best way I can sum it up is that I find these sort of assumption as accurate as stating all englishmen are hooligans. Do a large majority own guns? Most likely. Take into consideration tho that when looking at the percentages of guns per person you need to understand that most gun owners own many, not just one. You could have one individual who owns twenty odd firearms for sport or as a collection(usually all of which must be registered according to their state's laws) one person owning the 3 gun ratio for 6+ individuals if you go by that ratio for Texas that NJS posted. I don't deny that we have guns here, but when you take into account the amount of people who own them and then look at the amount of (for lack of a better word) incidents like this shooting in Maryland I'd hope it could be seen that it is the minority of idiots out there accountable. And despite what is seen in the movies a high majority of americans do not roam the streets 'packing heat' as I feel many english assume. I'm not looking for an arguement, nor am I looking to make excuses. I do admit that owning guns for many IS a way of life here and is an intrinsic part of their culture. I simply am stating that in fact it is not as blatant and callous/careless as I think many assume. http://www.locksley.com/6696/guns3.htm While this quote and article were written by an american and I am in no way denying any sort of bias it may put a few things into a different light. 84592 Interesting post, thanks. I guess we have this preconception because every american film or tv show we see has a character with a Desert Eagle on their bedside table or a Beretta in their glovebox or purse.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of witt. Apparently. 84573 But wit is the highest form of intelligence. -

Maybe so. Perhaps we should be thankful that we don't keep guns around the house in this country.

That was the biggest fuck up of recent times. Not building on that momentum. Since we blew the C.L qualifyer against Belgrade in the summer of 2003 we have been sliding backwards. I honestly think we would still be a top five club now if we'd won that tie. The more times you make it to the C.L, the easier it is to stay there thanks to the increase in money and profile making it easier to attract top class players. If we had qualified two years running we could have build up quite a cushion between us and the also-rans but it wasn't to be
