  1. Perfect image for our celeb obsessed age, perhaps....
  2. Just watched a documentary on him. Thought he was one hell of a man. Had everything you could ever have in one person, Kind, Aggresive, Caring, Clever, Brave but above all a true lunatic Also vicious, ruthless, psycopathic, amoral, and greedy? He certainly wasn't bulletproof, as the picture proves...... Yeah couldn't argue with you on any of those. Still done loads for the poor, more than the government was doing at the time. Guess that's why he's a folk hero. We have a bloke who hated frogs, wore tights and hung out in the woods with men. The Colombians have got Escobar, who's probably a bit cooler. It's tailor made for Rusell Crowe to have a go at playing him in a Hollywood blockbuster. He'd do a cracking Spanish accent I reckon.....
  3. Stevenage were an odious little club as I recall. I hope we put ten past them.
  4. fucking great seeing Allardyce get slaughtered. Shame Souness isn't doing the same somewhere. Amen to that. The owners must have been very happy with the stylish display until someone told them they weren't playing in red......
  5. maybe he'd make a good drinking buddy for Andy carroll.....

  7. Awesome response from England. Aussie media are circling over Johnson in particular and have been pointing out that with a bit more luck England would have got out Hussey and had them in real trouble. Whatever happens hopefully this will set up the Ashes for a real contest, there seems a bit more backbone to this England than on previous Ashes tours.
  8. ....remembering to stick an onion up his arse first Oh yeah, and RIP.
  9. That's just wonderful.....when your mortgage goes up, it must make it really affordable because you're already paying interest !
  10. I don't see why anyone should pay for further education other than the person doing it. It's not a right. They only have to pay it back at a pretty easy rate once they're on good money. There's a delicious irony that the people in parliament who voted for tuition fees either got daddy to pay for their college education or got it free off the state if they went to 'varsity'. No double standards there, oh dear me no! FWIW I think this will transport us back to the good old days, with most unis resembling Brideshead Revisited. Why anybody would bother is beyond me given they'll be loaded up with debt well into their 30's, unless they intend to pull a fast one of course.
  11. Pretty sick and tired of hearing/reading this sort of thing. Most people who knock media courses probably don't know or understand what goes in them, that or they're against it because it's a relatively new educational subject and does not have the standing of your usual more academic courses. Then you read up about them. There are scarsely any jobs in this industry but it is considered a "cool" degree to do. It is verging on criminally dishonest to get someone wasting years of their life studying for something where the likelyhood of obtaining a job at the end of it is remote. (especially if they want the taxpayer to pay for it). It was all good and well when money was aplenty and work too, for kids to have a jolly old time studying poetry etc etc etc. But really, what is the point of setting stupid targets to cram more and more kids through uni doing stupid courses when their is nothing at the end of it. The whole point of universities are that they are devoted to the academic pursuit of learning. Getting a job when you graduate is not the end in itself. Scholars are expected to add to the body of knowledge through their immersion in the subject. I assume that's why all of the pure arts subjects haven't been largely deleted from the curriculum. I don't blame people for doing useless degrees, it's more a question of by what criteria do you judge a useless degree and whether the taxpayer should fund it and to what extent. Back in the day you could do virtually any degree and get a job at the end of it, provided the job didn't require specialist knowledge like medicine. I guess it's not like that anymore so your point is valid imo.
  12. Absolute shot in the dark here but what about Ryan Babel? Alledgedly the dippers want rid. and they have everyright... Probably offer more than Loven and Best though. I expect Best is embarrassed to pick up his wages, such has been his contribution so far.....
  13. Helluva Bobby Charlton comb over on the emperor there
  14. Maybe representing the views of the rank and file's too much of a heavy lift anyway. From a distance and with hindsight maybe the trust status has been too much of a distraction? A lot of time, money and energy has been invested in it and for what I wonder?
  15. Kevin, I think you should make one of your special animated films in support. It could turn the tide
  16. I do hope there's stuff in there that's gratuitously insulting to the French....
