  1. Totally agree. Come what may Butt and Geremi will need to be replaced. The midfield in particular isn't close to Prem standard imo.
  2. I still think that if we get promoted, the only way we'll stay up is with a change of owner. Otherwise Ashley will persist with Hughton and won't spend the money needed on new players. Hughton's doing a canny job under difficult circumstances but I don't think he's good enough for the Prem. And the team is woefully short imo across the park in terms of pace, guile in attack and solidity in defence. We may get away with it in a poor CCC but we won't in the Prem. In fact I reckon Hughton would be sacked at the end of Jan, just as the transfer window closes.
  3. I suppose it's possible we've enquired about taking this player on loan. The idea that Taylor would go in the opposite direction is ridiculous.
  4. WBA and Cardiff lost at Barnsley iirc. Disappointing to have lost 2 points at the death, but it's still a good away point.
  5. What a load of horse shit. A source close to Ashley, indeed. Stick it up your arse Llambias, no-one believes your lies anymore.
  6. So that's the sound of the barrel being scraped then. We even seem a bit short on good Scottish managers these days. Moyes has done well at Everton, but after that.... Edit: good youngish Scottish managers
  7. The Sun will currently have an 80% rating increasing to 99.99% as the tournament approaches
  8. If LardAsh had been prepared to put his hand in his pocket, there MUST be bargains to be had from boro in Jan. Boro have been up against it for ages now, and things just aint getting any better. I don't know what players they have, but there must be at least one which would interest us. Hearing Bridge at Citeh (best supported club in the history of football. FACT!) is out for a while, I hope they don't get any ideas on Enrique for cover. ££££=pleasure for LardAsh. If it's looking as good in January as it does now, I'd be very worried about Fatso selling Enrique to the first decent offer from a Prem club. Makes perfect sense (to him). Coloccini and Nolan would have to be vulnerable too, assuming they're on high wages and we'd get a few mill.
  9. No Boom Boom Pow!/Black Eyed Peas? Not that I'd vote for it....
  10. Jaw dropping stuff. Bang out of order. Bit off more than he could chew, eh? Must have hit the roof. I'll get me coat too.
  11. Are good English managers at the top level an endangered species? The only British manager in charge of a 'Big 4' side is Ferguson. He's 67 and Scottish. The other big 4 managers are foreign. English managers: Allardyce 54 years old - Shite and talks shite Megson 50 years old - Shite and ginger Hodgson 61 years old - Old Brown 50 years old - Shite and orange Bruce 48 years old - Looks like shite, talks shite, is shite Redknapp 61 years old - Old, wide and has a melty face Mick McCarthy 50 years old - Not technically English or a manager, also shite Where are the stellar young English managers stepping up at the top level? Where's the next Brian Clough coming from? Anybody under the age of 45 who's had a go seems to have failed.....ex-pros now seem content to live off their career earnings or talk shite on telly. No English manager competes in the Champions League year in year out (Tony Mowbray doesn't compete). At this rate we won't have another English manager in charge of England for a very long time. Or we'd have to appoint someone like Allardyce, who is the real life equivalent of Mike Bassett, only not as good. Or likeable. What is the FA doing about it? Does anyone care?
  12. 'Lawro' scathing about NUFC ???? :o You'll be telling me there's no Santa, next. It was mainly about thumping the ball up the middle. And he was spot on about Guti not taking on a novice right back. Not sure who Lawro's mate was but he called Pancrate "a French youngster" and Shola "incredibly popular on Tyneside" That's the second or third time i've heard Pancrate referred to as a "youngster" More confusion over his age than Martins'. He is a youngster compared to Lawro, the old queen

  14. Good luck with that. If they don't smash your face in and/or throw you out onto the pavement, I expect the cost of your solicitor writing a letter would outweigh any refund you could get. I'm not sure a court would hear a case where there's a small amount of money at stake, unless you could claim damages. I was always under the impression that the SDA was there to benefit women rather than men, but maybe that's wide of the mark.

  18. One bloody golf glove and a 1 wood. Tiger: "What makes you think it was me?" One wood in the bush? Better than his missus slicing a ball with a 3 iron

Population of NZ is 4-5m actually You're right about being 30 years behind (at least) but that's actually part of its charm - quality of life and family values are still all important here and it's relatively unspoilt; people here don't tend to be the greedy money obsessed arseholes I came across in the south east of England, squashed into tiny living spaces and consumed by jealousy of other people and the idea of missing out. It's also an insignificant country in terms of world politics but again that's a plus. Unlike the UK, there's no chip on their shoulder about their past and their standing in the world, the armed forces are non existent (I expect their soldiers run around with wooden rifles making firing noises), and they're nuclear free, so our tax dollars don't go on supporting any of Donald Rumsfeld's companies or the Yanks madcap military campaigns. I quite like that. I also happen to like the Dutch, Amsterdam was a favourite place to visit and I met quite a few Dutch people on courses and the like. I actually found them hilarious, strange blend of liberalism and conservative values and they loved to drink. The main thing I've got against Holland is it's very boiring to look at by and large (unlike NZ which is spectacular ). I suspect the path between the real Dutch and the Boers diverged about 3 or 4 hundred years ago. Probably like comparing the Amish people to the Dutch. I haven't met a Boer that I've liked, but I haven't met that many truth be told. I haven't met any Zulus so I'll have to take your word for it
