Or feelings over trophies. It is possible to objectively compare the two managers despite the difference in eras tbh. It doesn't belittle what Keegan achieved or what he meant to say that Howe is the better manager.

I couldn't believe Howe saying in that other video that they take training and then they go and watch back the video of the session to see how they could improve the session. Ah it feels old as fuck. But I find myself skipping through the talky bits a lot less than I normally do and I don't know if I'm just telling myself the storytelling is better cos the game looks so shit, or if it actually is. I'm enjoying it now it's on casual though. Walking into every room with my big fucking dwarf balls in a wheelbarrow and kicking fuck out of everyone.

Aye I agree but that's not really a role that players should have any reasonable expectation would exist at the club. One of the owners there to cuddle them after the match and give them life advice and stuff. No other PL club has that. Absolutely brilliant that it was there for a while and clearly made a massive difference to some players and to Howe and his team. And it was probably needed at that time, but not sustainable. I totally get that it was a massive wrench when she went but that specific thing thst she was providing can't be directly replaced.

I think we have replaced it you know. It's a player liaison job and we have got a team in place doing that now. Probably put in place by Staveley as well. The fact the players got used to her as a mother type figure and felt the loss when she left was unfortunate, but I don't think the support has disappeared or anything.

No, cos we had to make those buys in that first window or we'd have gone down. They were largely responsible for the Anderson thing though, but for the right reasons. My issue is with the legends that have sprung up, like the idea that "everyone we signed under Mandy and Mehrdad was done in secret, why can't we do thst anymore?!", which just wasn't true. They also benefitted from being able to sign people when the promise of the takeover was that we were going to be the next Man City. People know that isn't true now so we're a harder sell than we were, despite the progression of the club. Basically my issue isn't with them, it's with the mythologising around everything they did and when things go wrong for us, out comes the legend of Staveley and Ghodoussi. I think they did a brilliant job and she comes across as a genuinely nice person.

I've had to put it on "casual" difficulty cos I keep getting fucking battered by the baddies. In my defence, I don't think I'm remotely using the "party" combat in the way you're meant to, but honestly trying to work it out and constantly getting laced is not enjoyable. They could make casual a bit harder though cos I'm just walking through everything now. That's a shame that the latest one was shit. I'd say you'd def enjoy Avowed if you like this though.

I "like" her Douglas. My issue was more around the idea that everything that was done by her and her fella was pure perfection that the club could no longer live up to.

Aye, Howe all the way. Keegan was the perfect appointment at the perfect time and he gave people massive pride and made them believe that they could have a successful football club. And he came within a whisker of delivering it. But Howe is the one that actually delivered. He's not one for the impassioned speech or the romance like Keegan, although in his own quiet way he does say some stuff that is quite stirring, and he clearly has all of the players fully bought in. Anyway I think he's mint. It's only nostalgia and a dislike of the more grubby side of football these days that makes people put Keegan above Howe imo.
